Good morning everyone. Hi Wilderness, I see some familiar names here. I was on Birds and Blooms, the Potting Shed. My name is Sherry and I am from Southern Ontario, Canada. I have two boys. I have no grand children. I am retired and enjoying everything I can! Lol

Hi Sherry! Welcome neighbour to the East! 😊 I hope you'll drop in frequently. I'm not a gardener but I enjoy the camaderie with this group. They so nicely put up with me & my silly questions.
See you around the neighbourhood.

Hello there, Sherry and welcome to the board...or should I say welcome back? Was your name Blossom on the B&B board? I remember a blossom01, but her name was Freda and she lived in North Carolina.
Please join in the conversations. In addition to the potting shed, we have a morning VIP (virtual internet patio) where we just talk about our weather, plans for the day, etc. There is usually an evening chit chat where we discuss how are day was. There is also a supper thread and several other threads re:gardening and even off topic subjects. It is nice to have another friendly Canadian among us! Charlene

Just wondering whereabouts in Southern Ontario you are Sherry? I am also in Ontario, on the lake, sort of between Toronto and Ottawa. Good to see another Canadian 😐.

I am very close to Niagara Falls in the small town of Port Colborne. I live very close to the shore of Lake Erie. 5 minute walk. The Welland Canal goes right through town. Get to watch the big ships out on the lake as well as go through the locks.

Sandy (Flowerpowerzn5) from this board also lives close to Lake Erie, but lives on the other side...Albion, New York. Wendy (Sunshine) also lives by Erie in Rochester, NY.

Welcome to all the 'old faces' that have rejoined us as well as the many 'new faces'. Good to see you all here. I do not get here every day and it is usually later in the day when I do. With fall and cooler weather approaching we may have to come up with some new topics, not necessarily just gardening to see us thru the winter months. Are their quilters among us? Quilting and gardening seem to go hand in hand.
Connie in Nebraska, very near Omaha

Well, here's a little story about myself...
I joined this forum to continue to gather information on how to be a better gardener. I absolutely adore plants! The beauty of a plant that I grew is unbelievable to me. I hope that everyone on here is here for the same reason that I am....
I have three children, and even more animals; I enjoy taking care of things. I rent a home at the moment, while saving for my dream home. I figure that any beauty I can bring to a plain ole yard is better than what it looked like when I moved in. So far, the landlord seems pretty happy with what I've done. I have built flower beds, put in plants that I knew would survive our hot summers and freezing winters. I live in zone 8 and any advice would be appreciated. I grow my plants on a penny budget. If it costs too much, I cry when it doesn't work out. I figure if a plant dies, it gives me an opportunity to plant something else.
I'm glad to be here and look forward to all the advice and pictures.
Thanks!!

Welcome, Laenloe! We do have many gardeners here and you can certainly learn so much from them. I have been here since 2006 and I have learned more than I thought I'd ever know about gardening. I am in zone 4, but we have several from warmer zones as well. Most of us are also on a penny budget, so we have that in common as well. Many of us have seeds growing now and looking forward to when we can plant them outside.
Please visit more often and don't ever be afraid to ask a question. We'd be happy to help you in any way we can. In addition to sharing our garden tips and secrets, we have daily chat threads where we share a glimpse into our personal lives. I have developed so many great friends from this board. Charlene

I also have very sandy soil, which makes gardening a challenge, but I am trying to amend the soil as much as possible. I hope you will stick around and tell us about your flowers, and perhaps post pics of them.
