Welcome back, Calgal! I am glad you found us and hope you are happy here and we hear more from you. Where did you live when you were in Iowa? I am almost Minnesota, but I am familiar with much of the state. Charlene

Hello everyone. It has taken quite some time for me to get this together but finally got it finished.
I've been hanging around this great bunch of people for a few years now. Those that know me know my story but here goes.
I am happily married for the second time to the love of my life Rick. I have a son and daughter and Rick has one daughter. My DD has 2 boys and my DS has 2 girls.
I am from a family of 4 girls, me being the second oldest. I moved to London when Rick & I married. This was where he worked so here I am. He married me despite my limitations and knowing things could get worse, and they did. I have Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Neuropathy in both feet. It's a daily struggle but it could always be worse. You just plug along and do what you can do when you can do it. God is good.
We were only married 3 years when Rick was in a motor vehicle accident which wasn't his fault and he hasn't worked a day since. He suffers from severe back pain which has caused other ongoing issues as well. He has been to 3 different surgeons and no one will operate because there is a network of nerves too close to where they would have to do surgery and chances are the problems could be worse.
We go day by day and as I said we do what we can when we can. We both love gardening even though it's tough sometimes but neither of us want to live in an apartment.
I do have one problem with my DH. He is tall and I am short and the beast often steals my cane because he can't remember where he left his. (he only has 3). I would almost need a step ladder to use mine after he has adjusted it so I just bonk him on the head and tell him to fix it....Please laugh and don't be sad for us, remember I said it could always be worse.
You will see some very short posts from me at times because my hands and fingers go on strike so I can't type much. This took me forever to finish because I just added a couple lines then saved it. No matter how much I tell them to type, type, type, they just ignore me.
It's been fun reading everyone's story and so awesome that so many new members felt comfortable to join in and share their story so we could get to know them. We have a great setup now after being shifted from one place to another. The one move was so quick I do believe I left my false teeth behind.....(don't have false teeth so must belong to someone else)
On that note I better get out of here. Take care everyone and remember, tomorrow is a new day with new dreams and hopes. Never give up.

Donna...I so enjoyed your story. I do know a lot about you but always learn something new. I laughed out loud about the cane story...how funny...I had a visual of you bopping Rick on the head. I am so glad you shared here and hope others read it to appreciate how dedicated you are to keep posting when it is almost physically impossible. I have a lot of respect and admiration for you, my friend!
BTW...(those might have been my teeth...I wondered where I left them...lol) Charlene

Donna, thanks for sharing your story. I admit to being curious about what your & Rick's health issues were. Obviously many of you are friends of long standing and know how and why you both suffer so much. My heart goes out to you. I do like your positive attitude which is always a big plus. I can sympathize with you on the RA part as this has been part of my life since 1980. I may not have the t-shirt but have many scars to show for it! 😊 Fibro & neuropathy are no fun either. Take care and continue with your great attitude and doing what you can, when you can. We do learn how to adapt.
Oh my, your cane story is too funny! I can imagine how difficult using your cane is when the sizing is all wrong. Hopefully this doesn't come to play during the night! It would be an awful shock. Rick might need a leash on his so he can find it quickly. LOL on the bonk on the head!

Donna - I love your positive attitude!
I appreciate the candour with which you told your story. Most of us do not appreciate our health until we lose it. Quite the visual of you 'attacking' your hubby.
Angela - 30+ years is a long time to have dealt with arthritis.
Guess I shouldn't complain about the odd twinge, should I?

Charlene, we lived in Fort Dodge. Hubby worked at the Friskies cat food plant there. Was a nice time, but I was glad to get back out west. We lived there in winter of 1997 to Spring 1999 We didn't stick around too long.

Donna, glad you posted your story....Sorry life has dealt you such bad health...My daughters both have Fibromyalgia ,and I have spurs and Arthritis on my spine so I have a small knowledge of what you are going through....God Bless ! About the cane.....why don't you adjust it to where you want it and then put glue on it....or have someone to weld it together for you..... that will fix him...lol

Charlene, I can put the teeth in the mail but if they go through the x-ray machine someone might be knocking on our doors wondering what you and I are up to! I guess we could tell them one month you have them then I get them the next month!!!! Thank you for your kind words. I honestly do "bop" Rick on the head, you would think by know he would learn...must have a wooden head.
Tasty, thank you, I didn't want to sound all doom and gloom but the facts are the facts. It's how you look at it and what you do about it that counts. Yes you sure can comment on your "odd twinge" because it's just as painful for you as mine is to me. I will continue to attack hubby as long as he continues to "borrow" my cane.
Angela, now you know :) You as well have a great attitude regarding your health issues. We have to keep trying and do the best we can.
Oooopsss my baby finger flinched and hit the post button.....Angela, he would only trip over a leash LOL

Welcome to Calgal - I remember you.
Donna, you filled in many details I had missed. About your fingers giving up - mine do crazy things. my fingers tend to double letters - the funny is WOW - I get an O in between. Then the 'Gift of Deslyxea' had me typing words backwards. It just came out ti. So spell check is a God-send for me - but in many cases it can only tell me that the word is not spelled right. When you mix the first 2 letters it doesn't have a clue.
Since I have MG (myasthenia Gravis - a grave muscle disease) need to use a cane because I'm tipsy. I was only 60 and people asked why I had to use a cane at my age. I told them that was easier than explaining why I was tipsy!
I started using in the year John McCain ran for pres the first time. I thought about calling it John - because it was maCane. But I didn't want to carry a John around - so I named her Carrie - after aunt Carrie. 4 years later they thought it was Kerry!~ NO - she is my confident.
With my current back problems - the first thing PT did was to shorten my cane 2" - I knew I was shorter but never thought about how that could help me.
My back has a crack - fell and then PT and Chio only made it worse. X-ray and hope to see what it looks like in there. Hwen I put the weight on the walker the hip doesn't hurt as much. The crack is between hip and spine - by L1.
I try not to coplain about being old - many classmates never got the chance to expirence 'OLD'!
Enough about me - enjoy reading and not posting as much!
Alma still loves aqua!!

Oh I so enjoy reading all the bios. I really got too carried away with mine. Way more information than you all wanted to know I am sure and one day I will go back and delete all that stuff when I learn how to do it. LOL.
Welcome to the newest members and welcome back to the ones from the old gang.
I read on here much more than I post and it is so nice to get to know you all. Mary

Welcome, Elaine! I am glad you found your way here to join us. You live in a different world completely from me...I am in NE Iowa and we have some wicked winters some years. Many snow birds from our area go to Arizona but I can't think of the name of the area they go to. Hope to see more of you here. Charlene
