Good morning friends.
I hate to keep saying it but it's another hot, hot day here. Possible thunderstorms this afternoon.
My friend brought us some garden tomatoes so I plan on having a tomato sandwich for lunch. Gotta love those fresh garden tomatoes!
For dinner we're having steak. Oldest DD wont be eating with us as she is spending the day with some friends swimming.
Enjoy your day.

Good Morning ! I slept in and it is a rainy morning here. Not sure what our plans are for today. DH thinks the brakes on the truck need checked so he is taking it in tomorrow to a shop for that. I don't plan on going. I have a couple crock pot recipes that I bought ingredients for so I might plan that tomorrow.
I found some halibut at the store and need to use it so will probably try to make some fried fish later on. I got the batter recipe from my favorites file over on TOH. It is supposed to be like Long John Silvers batter. We'll see....
Bet, your meal sounds wonderful!

Good morning all. Maybe the rain that hit us yesterday will get to you Nancy. It has made a huge difference in the garden - the flowers are all looking so much better. But it is still HHH here as well.
Yesterday I took a small ham out of the freezer to defrost so will find something to do with that later on. At the moment I have taken all the ripe tomatoes I picked yesterday and am cooking them down to something like tomato paste. It will be a long slow process but mostly they were fairly small and I wan't going to stand and skin them so after they were well washed into the pot they went and I will use the blender.
How much longer will you be in Nova Scotia, Tammy?
Wishing everyone a happy Sunday.

Good morning, going to go to church and then Marge and I will go to Wal Mart and eat out at KC. I have things I need so asked her to ride along. Its too hot to go outside and do anything for me. I have gotten to be a pansy. I will be putting 1/2 pork butt in crock pot to let it cook all day and will shred it for pulled pork. Nothing easier! Will get some buns and be in business.
Everyone have a good day. Marlene

Tasty, we will be here until Thursday morning then plan on heading to Prince Edward Island. We can take the bridge or we can take the ferry over. When we made campground reservations the lady told us that only one ferry is working so if you are not there early you may not make it over that day. She said they load large trucks and rv's last. After hearing that we figured on just taking the bridge even though it would be a lot more miles to drive over there. At the last campground, a man DH talked to said get to the ferry by 7 a.m. and we should make it on just fine. Did you know that you can ride the ferry or take the bridge and it's free. Free to come to the island but when you leave is when you pay for going off! I think it will be about $60.00 to use the bridge to leave. The ferry is like 3 times more expensive.

Good morning all.
I posted yesterday and it didn't post. Not sure what happened.
Last night we went to dinner with friends. Lovely seafood dinner. Today we are grilling. I have meat and chicken and veggies for shish kebabs.
It's warm and steamy here so I guess I better get out there and walk the dogs before it gets too hot.
Have a great day.

Morning everyone! It's beyond HHH...ugh! Had some rain overnight...thunder & lightening. Didn't have to water...Yea! I right clicked on the reply button and got a new reply tab, but I can hit the thread tab and read what you have written! Can someone remind me about the "life saver"? I think I set it up when Bev mentioned it, but now I forget!!! (Age related...) I got 1.5 pounds of dehydrated tomato raisins from the 5 pounds I bought. Lovely...sweet, moist, and slightly chewy. Tammy - When we were in PEI, there was no bridge, but I remember the ferry being backed up for hours. We found a campground and got on the 7am ferry the next morning. It was a beautiful ride. Haven't had halibut in ages...so expensive here. Nancy - I'll take steak anytime! Nice that you have a pool to use in this heat. Bet - Lovely sounding meal! DH cooked thick pork chops and large mushrooms on the grill...we have leftovers! I did something different with the blanched cauliflower florets I was reheating last night. I sprinkled on some green Tabasco...yum!!! Not to hot...I will do that again. Tasty - I do that, too with tomatoes; the blender is so much easier than skinning them. IMO, anyway. It's extra fiber, right!!!?? Marlene - Good to see you here. Your pork sounds great. I found some whole wheat hot dog rolls that I'm going to toast and have with egg salad tonight. Last night we watched "Our Town" a PBS play starring Paul Newman...interesting...very few props...had to use your imagination! Hope everyone has a great Sunday. Waving to all. Will check in later.

Tammy, I have never been as far east as you are right now. New Brunswick is as far as I have made it but I remember reading somewhere that you could arrive on the island for free, but must pay to leave. Guess they don't want you to leave ;) .

WE were in PEI many years ago. We took the bridge over which as I recall brought you to the Island near Summerville. We came back via the ferry into Nova Scotia. At that time there was also a ferry to the north of the bridge somewhere. A car cost on the ferry wasn't that bad.

Welcome Ladybug. Busy times ahead for you by the sound of it. If you could send some of your excess rain to Eastern Ontario, I would really appreciate it.

How do I post after typing a reply? I can see how to post a quick reply but can't seem to hit the right button for a regular reply. I have been typing most days but doesn't seem to go through.

Sara - On the right of the blue bar where you see Quick Reply on the left, hit "Reply". A new box will appear that you can change the font, add links, etc. When you have finished, scroll down and hit create post button on the right.

Hi Sara. Welcome to you and others who are new.
To do a regular post, what I do is drop to the blue line just below someone's post. On the left side it says quick reply but on the far right it says reply. I type what I want and then click on the lower right hand corner where it says "create post".
Regarding the halibut: yes it is pricey. I paid $18.99 a pound. It is a special treat for us. We seldom see halibut. The batter turned out wonderful! The recipe said to use equal parts of Bisquick and pancake mix. I thought I had pancake mix so did not buy any. Of course, I could not find it so just used all Bisquick mixed with club soda.
Guess I'll go back to reading my book.
