Hi, Thank you Tammy for your posting instructions to Sara......I was able to use them to get on. I have been out of town and off the broards for over 2 weeks. I came home very tired and weary. I finally logged on Thursday night and much had changed......I was not surprised, the handwriting has been on the wall for some time. I hate change but you either suck it up and go with the change or drop out. I enjoy the chatter and the wonderful recipes, and there are many. I see that most of those I admire are here.
I was in Tulsa on business and got a phone call that my D SIS had suffered cardiac arrest and was in ICU in Longview Tx. I left immediately and I knew when I saw her that night that it was over. She died 8/5 and was buried 8/9 and I drove home on the 10th. She went in for a stress test and ended up dead. I still can't process it yet.....it went down so quickly. I have more questions than answers at this point.
I almost stopped and did a happy dance on the side of the road when I finally crossed state line into Colorado. It has been blissfully cool since I arrived home and I have not done much except veg and rest. Sara, I send my sincere condolences to you on the death of your D MOM. I hope you are doing well. I have read some of the back post but not all. Chris, I hope you had a great vacation and a fun time with your S. Cheers to all, Doris

A big hello to everyone! It is really exciting to see so many new posters joining in and some that we haven't heard from in ages. Jan, sure is wonderful to see you found your way here--you've been missed!!
Today was one of those crazy days that had me running from the minute I got up. First chance I've gotten to sit today and just take care of me for a few minutes. Started early with a trip to Home Depot then Lowe's to compare washer/dryer machines. Next it was a stop at BJ's to pick up a few items. Once home I spent most of my day helping a friend with airline reservations for a trip she will be taking next month.
Then I got a text from a dear friend informing me that her daughter's doctor induced labor because her blood pressure jumped real high last night. I've been waiting for another text informing me of the arrival of the baby, but not yet.
Dinner started out in the slow cooker (recipe said low, I cooked it on high), but it just wasn't cooking! I transferred it to a pan and finished it in the oven (yes, I had to turn it on again). Made a TOH recipe, Lemonade Chicken. Had a good taste, tender as can be, but if I wouldn't have put it into the oven, we'd probably still be waiting. Made a spinach casserole since I had the oven on, and we finished the potato salad from yesterday.
Ann, those tomatoes look yummy!
Elza, sounds like you and your sister accomplished a lot today!
Marlene, Marge and you had a fun day!
Tammy, my parents once had neighbors that had moved here from Maine. Every so often they would have halibut for dinner. Once I was invited to join them for dinner and I, like you, am not a big fan of seafood. However, I remember how much I liked the halibut and saying, "why can't all fish taste this good." Sadly, they moved before I got another halibut dinner.
Nancy and ezdoesit, I heard that Ryan left the party by himself at 4 AM. Per the news, they said it was kind of late to be traveling around by himself in a taxi at that hour and they really frowned on the idea of him doing so. Glad he wasn't hurt.
We are getting a strong rainstorm moving through right now. Lights are flickering off and on, so I'm going to say goodbye for now. Hope everyone had a lovely day! Lori

So many new faces - it's wonderful to see you all. And it will be fun getting to know you all. Jan, what a lovely surprise to see you again. I missed your posts - not sure how long it's been since you were around.
Tonight we had ham, boiled and fried potatoes and salad.

Hi Janet! I don't live alone but I cook as little as I can get away with! LOL So, we can pair up on this cooking thread. We had grilled cheese sandwiches last night though hubby's choice not mine! 😊

Seems I always am late to the game! Everyone's dinners sound good. My DH met one of our DD at the state fair today. I was invited but opted out as I think it's nice they can have some father-daughter time which doesn't happen often enough. I'm lucky to meet with one or both the girls at least twice a month for shopping and lunch so I'm glad they were able to have their outing.
A light supper here. I have an abundance of basil and tomatoes now so decided to mix up some light mayo with finely chopped basil and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar (all ingredients to taste). I let it marinate in the frig about an hour and then used it as a spread for BLT's on toasted whole wheat bread, worked great. Next time I'd skip the bacon and just use the tomatoes or even some thinly sliced fresh mozzarella. Just had fresh sliced peaches on the side with it. We just might cut into that loaf of lemon blueberry bread I pulled from the freezer later this evening.
Have a good evening everyone and oh yeah, those tomatoes look awesome!

Several of my girl friends decide we needed a girls night out that turned into 2 nights! LOL I loved it. I made Shou Chicken on Saturday night Turned out great. We had steak and eggs for brunch today. Friday night was zucchini ravioli! Awesome! Chris (no HC's all week end!!!!! )

Just wanted to post quickly and say hello to Jan!! So nice to hear from you. I agree that you have been dearly missed. I hope you won't have any more problems with posting. So far, so good for me. I would have posted earlier but m computer did not want to connect to the internet. DH and I watched a movie since there is no tv here in this remote place. He went off to bed and I tried to restart my computer, but first I had to install updates. Now it all seems to be working fine. Maybe someone is still up and will see this post. We are an hour ahead of the Eastern time zone. Doris, I am so sorry about your sister. How very sad. It was very cool and it rained most of the day here. we stayed in all day and even had our little heater going for a bit. DH will be getting up early and taking the truck in for a brake job. I will sleep in and then get some supper going in the crock pot. Sleep well!

Doris, my condolences to you & your family. So very sad that your sister failed so very quickly.
Tamara, I hope you are enjoying your trip to the Maritimes. Sad to say I have never been & it was always somewhere I wanted to go. Unlikely to happen now, unfortnately.
