It's the First (official) Day of Summer! More hot weather for us in SC today, and maybe a thunderstorm this afternoon or evening.
I think our dinner plans will be "clean out the refrigerator" ~
Have a great day, everybody! I'll check back in later.

Good morning Friends.
I am on my next to last day at my favorite Deli town. I go today and next Thursday and then turn it over to my replacement. She goes with me today but is not here next Thursday. I intend to show her the "right" places to eat! LOL
Elza- We are still a warm 80 today but no humidity to speak of and a slight breeze so it is good. I have no idea what my supper will be. DH will be making it.
I made a great potato salad last night with those small colored potatoes, chopped bacon, radishes, small chopped cukes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I made an emulsion of vinegar and oil and after mixing the potatoes and other ingredients i "splashed" on the dressing. Was really good. I had sweet bourbon sauce in a jar so I made wings with it. Was a great meal.

Good morning. 57 and mostly overcast this morning but not suppose to get any rain. Tomorrow morning the forecast is for 42. Yesterday I finally got the asparagus bed weeded. It was a mess. Now I can get the new roots planted. Hoping the sun come out and it warms up a little. If not the mosquitoes will be unbearable down in the lower yard so it may wait. The rest of the day I was busy but really couldn't tell you a thing I got done. Since it is cool and not very inviting for gardening I may play lumber jack. I have a big bush on either side of the house that winter killed real bad this year so plan to just cut them down and get rid of them. So maybe the chainsaw will get a workout today.
Elza, hope the day flies by for you so you can start your vacation. Have fun.
Chris, enjoy your lunch today.
Marlene, glad you were able to get a nap in yesterday. You needed it. Take your time in getting things done. I know it is a lot to do but as they say Rome wasn't built in a day.
Nancy, hope you DD is feeling better.
Have a great day.

Good morning friends.
We had plenty of rain throughout the night but the sun is starting to come out.
Chris, Your dinner last night sounded really, really good!
Bet, Be careful with that chainsaw!
Enjoy your day Elza.
Yesterday our friends father stopped by and dropped off lobster for us :) . I might pick up some crab legs and add that to dinner our lobster dinner for tonight. Depends on what they are charging. When I was looking at salmon this past Sunday, there was one there for $29.99lb!
Oldest DD is still sleeping so we shall see how she feels when she wakes up.
Enjoy your day.

I have been sorting MIL clothes. I bought her so many clothes and they were all Alfred Dunner but you look at them and some don't look so nice after the laundry at the home. She has 37 tops/sweaters,13 pr. slacks, 1 jacket, 8 sweaters,1 white jacket/slacks, one gorgeous jacket in blue tweeds she never wore that I paid a lot of money for. I kept it here for burial but way to big is a 14 and she was 10 petite when she passed. Also 4 pr. shoes. This is what was left after I moved her from the apartment they had in Walnut. I gave away so much of her clothes then. It is really sad to give it all away just hope people who need clothes can wear them. I washed all her blankets last night and have a big garbage bag full of quilts that are clean and ready to go.
It is raining again. We sure are getting soaked. Those baseball games being held in Omaha are having quite a few days of rain delayed games. People from all over U.S. are there spending lots of money.
Well need to get in the shower and get to town to get boxes to clean off my sofa of all the clothes. Will go sign papers at lawyers too. They called Monday so better get in there.

It is all Chris' fault. I am still here in the house in the kitchen. Her wings that she had last night made me decide to have wings tonight. I am eating Asian tonight. Japanese wings, Asian coleslaw, vegetable pot stickers and pork egg roll. Easy meal since I have the pot stickers and egg rolls all made and in the freezer. Only need to make the marinate for the wings. Not Went to the refrigerator to make sure I had everything. No dressing for the Asian Coleslaw and no dipping sauce for the pot stickers. These are things I keep in the refrigerator all the time. Fortunately I do have enough hot honey mustard sauce for the egg rolls. However, while in there I found I had 3 containers of sour cream in there, 2 of which were open. We won't mention the dates but no mold so good. Since I had no salad dressing in there I made a batch of Ranch dressing to use up on container of sour cream. I got everything chopped up for the slaw salad only to find I had a green pepper going bad which prompted me to do some meal planning. Also there is some taco sauce I made some time ago so should use that up. On my way to the freezer know to get everything out for dinner plus will bring up some burger to have for tacos and I don't think I have any veal cooked in the freezer so that means pulling a 2 1/2 pound package from the freezer and get that cooked up. I AM SUPPOSE TO BE OUTSIDE WORKING IN GARDENS. So much for that idea.

Hello all.
We are enjoying some nice weather. Cool mornings and sunny afternoons. I know the the hot weather will arrive soon enough. The girls and I have a few errands to run and we will pick up some lunch. Going to try to see a movie today or tomorrow with dd? Youngest dd isn't a fan of movies so trying to plan it when she is with friends.
Dinner will be taco salads.
Chris, are you headed to any beaches this summer. I miss the NE beaches.
Bet, be careful!!!
Nancy, how is dd feeling. I think you mentioned she has a job. Where is she working? I have my dds helping with our office. They seem less than thrilled.
I better get moving.
Have a beautiful first day of summer.

Hello there everyone. It may be the "official" first day of summer, but it pretty much feels like summer year round here. I woke up at 4:30 this morning to our "low"--82*--ugh!
Today we are celebrating Nat'l Selfie Day and Nat'l Peaches and Cream Day. Peaches reminds me that DH and I need to get over to our favorite Amish restaurant in town and get a slice of fresh peach pie while in season-yum! I could bake one too, but this restaurant is known for their pies and I haven't treated myself to a slice in many years. I'm sure I won't have to twist DH's arm.
The new window treatments were installed this morning (Luminette Privacy Sheers for living room and dinning room, Solera Soft Shades for all the bedrooms both by Hunter Douglas). Very happy with the finished results.
I had a big change of plans yesterday. When I finished posting here, I got a call that the husband to a teacher I taught with for many years had passed away. I ended up going to buy a ham, baked that, made a big bowl of potato salad, and drove it over for her and the family. I also had cookies that I had baked and froze, so those went too. He was 64, had been ill and unable to work for several years, but this was unexpected. Then when DH got in from work, we started over to take the verticals and his truck began acting up. Turned around and took it in to see just what the problem was, and 2 1/2 hours later we left with a new alternator. Dinner ended up being eggs and toast. If we can get there tonight before closing we'll take the blinds or otherwise wait until next week.
Nancy, enjoy your lobster this evening. The Chew just showed a lobster everything bagel and was raving how good it was. I think you're smart not to wait on the medicine for DD--hope it works fast. Our DD volunteered at the library when she was younger and loved it--hopefully yours does too.
Marlene, I remember the bags of clothing I gave away after my dear mother died. She had some beautiful things that she never got to wear so I hope others were able to use them. Don't try to get everything done in one day--rest in between--you deserve it!
Chris, hope you enjoyed your favorite deli town for lunch today. What good did you get?
Elza, I find it sort of fun and challenging to make a meal when cleaning out the refrigerator. Seems like there's always leftover bits and pieces that when put together make a satisfying meal.
Bet, hope by now you finally got out of the kitchen and maybe were able to plant the new roots.
Betsy, hope you had a fun day with the girls. Taco salad sounds good--think I'll put that on the menu for next week.
Dinner tonight will be baked pork chops, pasta salad, beets, and fresh mixed berries for dessert.
Need to go--waving to all!
Lori
Just saw that it is 94* outside--showers are starting to pop up, so maybe we'll be lucky and get one to cool us down.

Afternoon, friends. Sun was out until about noon today. Now it's cool and cloudy with a chance of showers. I don't mind...like the cool temperatures. We went to Aldi on the way home from the senior center. I got a piece of butterflied lamb leg that was on sale for $5.99lb. It's packaged flat instead of rolled in net like our other market does so it will be great for the grill. I just finished making a batch of Giarda's Checca Pasta Sauce. I made a few changes to her recipe to suit our tastes. Will have it on Saturday with the lamb. It's basically a fresh tomato, herb, and cheese sauce. The cheese melts onto the hot, cooked pasta as it is tossed. I mentioned the other day that I made a Lemon-Parsley Bean Salad. I will post the picture that I posted on FB, but I will use the postimg.org. We will have a visitor in a few minutes so I'll close for now. Waving.

Chris, Hampton is my hometown. Have a good time. My family still owns a house in Plaice Cove. My niece lives in it. I know you will have so much fun.
Lori, yum. Peach pie. I will need to make one this summer.
Nancy, that is wonderful your dd is working in the library. What a great job.
The girls and I did our errands and now they have gone to the pool. I have been on tossing frenzy. Throwing things away while no one is around to say "Hey, that's mine. I need that". I am sure they won't miss any of it.
Have a great night.

Anne, I like the picture. As they say a picture is worth a
million word.
Chris I just posted the link on how to post photos on the link about that. Goulash sounds good. But not sure how you had it made. Regionally there are so many different dishes call Goulash. The ice cream I make would be like a ice milk. No eggs. Just heavy cream, milk, sugar and vanilla. I bet it would make a good milkshake.
Nancy, I would love your lobster but the crab legs sound even better.
Betsy, I have been tossing for almost 11 years. My DH was a pack rat. Before transfer stations, send him to the dumb with 1/2 a pick up load and he would come come back with a full load. Not safe to let him near a garage sale.
Lori, your window treatments sound wonderful. Hope you enjoy them. I am afraid I never stepped foot outside today. The dish washer just finished and I still have to finish dinner. I am disappointed I have no veal left. However, I did realize I had heavy cream to be used so made ice cream and the cookie so made ice cream sandwiches. I had also sorts of cookies for them for years but finally found a sponge like cake that is so close to the ice cram sandwiches we used to get years ago so that is what I made. That will be desert before bed tonight.

Ice cream sandwiches to die for.
Not very even but I can tell I was getting tired. Maybe dessert before dinner is an idea.
