Good morning friends.
(((Helen)))
Well ladies, I found a part time job at a school cafeteria. I went to the school on Tuesday and inquired about it and the guy asked if I could start on Wednesday so I did.
The manager is new so he is not up to speed on all that's happening. I just kept asking a co-worker what do I do. I'm in charge of the deli to which I have experience. It's just a matter of learning their system.
The good part is that I get all the holidays the kids get and I'm off in the summer.
I have to get used to this as I'm accustomed to going about my day doing whatever I want.
I will try to catch up with everyone later.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

My MIL worked at the school cafeteria all of her work career. She started when her youngest went to first grade. She eventually made it up to the manager of the high school cafeteria. You can't beat the hours and in her case she had benefits. I hope you enjoy it. She made such good friends there, at the first school that they all remained friends to this day.
I happened to wake up early so I think we'll go ahead and get ready and head over to King Arthur Flour. I think they open at 9. Not sure if we will do anything else while we are out. There is a 60% chance of rain today.
I don't have anything thawed out so not sure of meals at this point.
We have some very good friends in Oklahoma that we have known since 1973. I have mentioned him before-he had a disease, not sure it even had a name where the frontal lobe of his brain was shrinking. He has been almost paralyzed for many years and the last 2 weeks has been in the hospital. We got word that he passed on last night. We can't make it back for the funeral. Our oldest son may try to go.
Chris - I have sent you a personal message.
Have a great day!

Congratulations, Nancy! Sounds like the ideal job for you.
Tamaralynn, don't forget to tell us about your visit to King Arthur Flour, Surely they will give you a free sample. Last year I was surprised to learn that part of their flour comes from Kansas. Their website has some really good recipes.
Enjoy your day

Tammy- I messaged you back and have my cell on!!! Sounds like a fun thing to do! I love King Arthur's and go there often as I can. It is very different now than it was 2 years ago. It is very modern and more just astore and deli than it used to be. But they do sometimes have cooking demo's out.
Nancy- Congrats on the job! Sounds like it will work well for you! I liked working in the school while my DS was in so I could be home with him when he was off!
Kay-I know that KA gets their flour from a lot of states and they always let you know where it came from! I like going when they are having a demo and you can see what and how to do something. Last time I went it was pretzel making and she repeated how to twist them. So I bought a box of the mix and made them! Easier than I thought it would be. Tasty- Woman of few words this morning? LOL Hope your day is going well! Chris (doing with out an HC this morning as she has a lot of people to see! 10 in 6 hours! Sweating it)

Good morning. Looks like our beautiful weather has left us for a day. 64 and overcast with storms this afternoon. I did get another 32 geranium cutting done yesterday and got one bench set up in the shop with the piping for the lights. Planning on doing more cutting today and if it rains may go see about buying some mums.
Nancy, how nice you got the job. It will be great to be off when the kids are.
Have a great day.

Wonderful news Nancy on your job find--talk about be at the right place at the right time! Congratulations!! Great hours, benefits, and the best is that you'll be home holidays, summers, and weekends with the two girls!
Tammy, I know after looking at the King Arthur website, I'd enjoy the tour. Can't wait to hear what you think of it! Like valerian said, they have some good looking recipes on their site.
Last night I was so tired, I was in bed by 8:30 and slept straight through until this morning. After DH left for work, I cut my chicken breasts and place them into a marinade for dinner tonight. We'll try a new to us recipe--Teriyaki Chicken Sandwiches. Recipe calls for the chicken to be broiled, but I plan to grill it. Afterwards, I made dinner for tomorrow or Saturday--Turkey Stew. This was another new recipe I tried.
Just finished an hour bike ride and plan to hop in the shower before leaving for work. Half day kindergarten job for today--never been to this school before. Tomorrow, full day at DD's old elementary school-1/2 day kindergarten, 1/2 day 1st grade.
Currently 80*, high around 92* before a 50% chance of rain between 5PM--7:30PM.
Have a great day friends. Lori

Hello everyone~ We had a nice rain yesterday and new grass is getting a good start. At least don't have to drag the hose around.
Just got a call and my oldest brother is on heavy morphine now and they say 24-48 hrs. They said he is not suffering. Sounds just like the way my DH passed. I was making a dessert today as the boys were going to Des Moines to see 2 nephews that are going to college there but don't think they will be coming. They were going to stop here on the way home. So think I will make a big batch of maid rites and have here on hand so if I need to go will take along.
Nancy glad you found some work and it sounds perfect for you. Hope you will enjoy it too.

Good Thursday morning to everyone. We did get some rain yesterday but not nearly as much as they thought we would. It was a nice little rain to water all the flowers and cloudy enough to take a good nap. Tomorrow I have two friends coming to visit, one is from Colorado and the other from about 100 miles away. We use to share an apartment together when we was in our twenties before we all got married. Those were the days my friends. I'm going to make a cold macaroni salad today and who knows what else I might do. I hope everyone will have a good day. ((( Hugs to Marlene on your Dear Brother))), Also (((Helen))) sure hope you are ok today and thinking of you and your Dear Husband. Hugs and Prayer's for anyone that might need or want one.

Well I think I have actually decided on dinner before 7 PM. I did get some of the big top round roast cut into thin slices to make cube steak. Now I just have to run it through the cuber. I am going to have Chicken Fried Steak (country fried steak) with country gravy, boiled potatoes and fresh broccoli.
Now to get the ambition to do it. LOL

Oh, Chris we were just about to run out the door to play golf but I wanted to post so maybe Nancy would see it before she left to go to work!!!
Anyway, I'm back from golf - thank goodness we took a cart this morning as the humidity is awful. Fortunately, the sun wasn't shining. It really was quite cloudy and more rain was threatened but nothing came of it. We fell asleep last night to thunder and lightening and heavy, heavy rain. I couldn't be bothered to get up and take a look but we certainly got a good soaking. We'll take every drop we can right now and hope for more in a day or 2 when this lot has soaked in.
I don't think I shall be cooking tonight. I wanted to go and order some new glasses but we had some time to waste before someone would be available to see me so we had lunch at the golf club and I am still full - we ate about 3 hours ago. Maybe a small salad later.
Tammy, so sorry to read about your friend - my condolences coming your way. You are for sure finding lots of good things to do in Vermont.
Helen, hope you are not too sore today. Take care.
Marlene, sorry to read about your brother - at least you know he is not in pain.
Hugs to all who need them today.

Afternoon, friends! We just got back from a trip to the shore and a BOGO lunch at our favorite restaurant down there. After lunch we stopped in at a "dollar" near the restaurant. Cloud formations were really weird today...some dark, some really dark, and others white and puffy surrounding patches of blue. Hawks are migrating over the fly zone...saw a bunch!
Helen - Ouch! Hope you are OK today!
Doris - Dinner sounds great! I make a white chili; never thought to add green chilies to it. Have you ever used the green Tabasco sauce? I recently sprinkled it on steamed cauliflower...way yummy!
Bet - Enjoy your dinner; sounds good. I don't have a cube steak maker, but I often use my Jaccard to tenderize steak. Marlene - Thinking of you; sending prayers and hugs.
Congratulations Nancy on your new job! Sounds ideal!!! Good luck!
Last year, King Arthur had a sale on bread mixes; I bought 6 and was not disappointed...easy to make a loaf as it's all premeasured. I, the non-baker, made one with a roasted cranberry swirl in it. I was impressed with myself...lol! I have a few of the commemorative tins for holding 5 pounds of flour. I used the coarse grain whole wheat recently...great!
Lori - New recipes sound great! You needed that long sleep!
Tasty - Lucky you...downpour!!!! It's muggy here, too! Elaine - Safe move to AZ. Hi, Sara - Haven't had macaroni salad in quite a while...sounds like a good idea! Chris & Tammy - Enjoy your plans! I doubt we will have anything but maybe some popcorn tonight. Waving to all.
