Good morning friends.
Oldest DD has already left for school as her friend wants to eat breakfast there.
Youngest DD is up and ready to have breakfast.
Busy day ahead for me and some phone calls I really don't want to make.
Tacos for the kids tonight. It's their first day back to school and it's something they like. I'm also making a small batch of sausage, peppers and onions as that's what I'm in the mood for.
Must run for now.
Will chat more later.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning Nancy and all who follow.
What an early start for your eldest, although I have to admit I just heard a school bus go past here too. Hope they have a good first day.
I have no idea what we will eat today but as I will be in town early this morning, I may just pick up some fresh salad veggies - it should be around 80 this afternoon.
Have a terrific Tuesday.

Good morning! I've been MIA the last few days due to not feeling too well. I was feeling so uncomfortable, DH and I actually came home early Sunday from our visit with DD. Just wasn't meant to be this time. Sunday evening, I began to wheez so yesterday I just did nothing much but bounce from the bed, to the lazy boy, back to bed. I feel a little better today, no wheezing in the chest, am finally able to blow my nose, but my cough is deep. Maybe work tomorrow, but right now I don't know--I'm currently not scheduled for work until Thursday and Friday. Naturally, DH and I share everything and this morning when he was leaving for work, he felt he was coming down with this. Probably too late now, but I'm spraying down the house with Lysol!
Nancy, I hope that your girls and you both have a good "first day back too school."
The last few weeks, our fruit and vegetable selection has been pretty ragged at the produce stands and in the grocery stores (our growing season starts so much earlier and by August/September, the heat wipes out everything). Yesterday DH decided to go over to Fresh Market and see if things looked better. Prices were just a little higher, but he felt everything looked better, except for the apples, which are still last years crop. The "new" apples should be arriving in the stores here in a few weeks and then late October, early November, some varieties of oranges will be ripe. DH was able to pick up watermelon, bananas, corn on the cob, and some lovely tomatoes for us to enjoy this week.
Dinner tonight, if anyone here is up to eating, will be beef stew and biscuits.
Have a nice day friends. Lori

Good Morning ! We are up early again (early for me!) so we can get on the road. Today we hope to go by and deal with the microwave situation (that's in Essex Junction), on to Shelburn Farm, eat lunch there, and drive by the Von Trapp Family Lodge. That place looks beautiful! I'm going to stop in and see if I can buy a cd of the children. My friend in Oklahoma has several and they are just beautiful songs.
We saw a total of 9 bridges yesterday I found out.
Lori, so sorry you are not well and had to cut your visit short. I'll say a prayer.
Bet, I hope you don't think I was complaining about the pie recipe not being included last month. I appreciate all you do for us here on pro boards! I didn't want to specifically point out that it was missed so I thought the easiest way to get it included was to just write it out again. It's so good everyone should try it!!
I discovered my stash of Country Discoveries magazines so have been going through them to make a list of things "must see" or great places to get a bite to eat.
I put together my cassoulet last night and I let it cook in the crock pot overnight. I'll keep it warm today and it will be waiting for us when we get back home.
Today looks to be very foggy. Hope it burns off-I think it will. I hear there was a chance of rain on Thursday.
Have a nice day! :))

Good morning. 55 and sunny again this morning. Will be in the low 80's again today. Didn't get much done yesterday. There seems to be a pattern here. Got all the ground meat into the freezer and had quite a bit of meat froze on sheet pans that needed to get packaged up before it was freezer burned. Also canned the spaghetti sauce I made. That takes about an hour and a half from start to finish. Need to watch the gauge closely to make sure it stays at the proper pressure. Can't find a happy medium on the gas stove. When I had electric had to right to a science so didn't have to be right there constantly.
Today am going grocery shopping. It is senior day so 6% off total bill. They have top round, sirloin tip and eye of the round roasts on sale for $2.99 a pound. Need to check and see how my stew beef stash is as well as my cube steak. That will determine how much beef I buy as I cut the roasts up and and make both. On sale both are almost $5 a pound and have a lot more fat in them than I like. Also whole and half pork loins are on sale for $1.77 again. Could use a few more pork chops in the freezer.
I should get out to the greenhouse and do some more cuttings before I need to close it down. They root out there better than in the house. Need to take the trash from next door to the transfer station when I go to town and also stop at the lumber yard and pick up a piece of pipe and a couple of fitting to alter the stands that my lights for the plants will hang on in the shop. Have to but they both need to be altered to work with the benches I will be using.
Have a great day.
Bet

Nancy, I hope your girls have a great day. Hope you get your phone calls done and over with soon. I don't like that feeling.
Lori, sorry you are sick. Feel better soon.

Good morning to all ~ Nancy hope the girls have a good day at school and a good year. It is always so fun at first.
Lori so sorry you have been sick. I hope you will get to feeling better real soon. It is terrible to be so sick in the summer time. Hope also you have some good meds to take.
I am going out to mow early as the wind is still blowing so grass will be dry. Then going to shower and get groceries and then come home and rest awhile and going to neighbors where we always bought our corn and bean seed. They have a BBQ every year about on my b-day and Bob's (his name) b-day. We are both the same day. Two of their girls will be home and will get to see one little girl and little boy. their son lives right by them and farm's with his Dad. So they still invite me. He will plant my CRP ground next spring.
Everyone have a good day. Marlene

I stopped at the store in the way home this morning to get salad stuff and saw Montreal-style smoked meat. Haven't had that in ages so that's what we're having tonight, with a salad.
Have fun at the game tonight Betsy.
Marlene, enjoy the time with the neighbors.
Another fun day for you and hubby, Tammy.
I forget when we last camped Chris, but nothing like it, esp. with a good HC in hand.

Good Tuesday afternoon to everyone. It is very muggy, humid and HOT here today. I wish we could bottle up a little of this heat for the cold days of winter.I know we will soon be complaining because it is to cold, snowy, icy and windy. Enough about the weather! My daughter and granddaughter are having some disagreements so the granddaughter stayed here last night. I sure wish they wouldn't do this as it makes me feel like I'm in the middle and I don't want to be. I would just as soon not know when they are not getting along.I guess this to shall pass. I don't have any ideas or plans for supper-- we will just raid the refrigerator and eat whatever in in there that I don't have to cook. I hope everyone is having a good day and sending a special hug for Lori to feel better.

Thanks everyone for your get well wishes, Tammy for the prayer, and Sara for the hug (I needed all of them today--thanks!)
Our morning started out quite nice with lots of sunshine, but how quickly things turned cloudy. Currently it is raining down Helen's way, but I guess she doesn't want me to be left out--LOL! Forecasters say it will be on the doorstep sometime late afternoon, early evening.
Sara, do you have any lettuce at home? Maybe you have enough bits and pieces and could make a salad for this evening. Or how about a simple grilled cheese sandwich and maybe some soup? Scrambled eggs and toast?
Just got a call from a friend--she needs a ride over to the store--car isn't working, so I'm off to help her. Bye. Lori

Afternoon, friends! Yea! We got some rain...not a large amount, but it's a start. PTL!
I'm just getting to sit a spell after cooking most of the afternoon. I found some more cherry tomatoes, some bell peppers, a stash of jumbo mushrooms, and a large package of jalapenos on the sale table today. I roasted the tomatoes with a couple of halved jalapenos and some herbs from my garden. Going to make an arribbiatta pasta sauce with it. We like that sauce, and I make my version. I just sauté [fyi press alt 0233 on number pad and you get é; press alt 0176 and you get °] onions in bacon fat and add the tomatoes with hot peppers, to taste along with grinds of fresh pepper and Romano cheese.
I also roasted the mushrooms and added a homemade salad dressing to the hot, tender mushrooms. Pickled easily and DH is in heaven! I will also use an Allrecipe's recipe for pickled jalapenos tomorrow.
The biggest thing today was making a chili with some hamburger I got with a sale tag. It's a Penzey's recipe using refried beans to thicken the mix. Came out delicious.
Tonight we are having some eggplant parm that I took from the freezer and two cutlets that I had cooked to make the parmesan chicken sandwiches.
Lori-Good that you are feeling better. Sorry to read that DH is next! One thing that I learned was that most colds are spread from hand, nose, eye contact to the cold virus. Most of us are unaware of the number of times we touch our nose or eyes...as teachers our hands touch desks, papers, etc. Innocuous, but cold producing!
Tammy - Where in central NH are you going to visit? Lake Winnipesaukee...? If yes, there's a place you might want to visit...Castle in the Clouds...awesome place! Wonderful views from the mountain top!
Have to visit upstairs to my mom...waving!

Ann, when I make a big pot of a beef vegetable soup, I will often use refried beans to thicken it. This was especially helpful when I used to make soup every week for the curling club. Refried beans or potatoes did the same thing, depending on the type of soup.

(((Lori))) Feel better soon. Already those school germs got you .
Tasty, Thanks for the heads up on how your canning group works things out. Sounds like a nice bunch.
Tammy, I like covered bridges and have a "covered bridges" board.
Bet, Some great sales for you today.
Betsy, Your MIL sounds like a real gem :-S lol. Have fun at the game tonight. As for my phone calls, I didn't make them :-/ .
Sara, That's a tough position for you to be in and I'm sorry that you are. We have a couple of squabbles going on within our immediate family. Thus begins the unfriending on Facebook which thankfully I am not on.
Marlene, I'm happy to hear you had a wonderful birthday.
Ann, I bet you can't stop looking at that new fridge. If DH was nearby he would've hooked up your ice maker.
