Sunrise over the lake.
Nothing much happening here today. Headed for work early as I have to be home by noon to wait for the refrigeration guys who probably won't get here until 4 but who know. Have plenty to do around here. It is 30°here this morning but too dark to tell anything else.
Chris, enjoy the pig.
Have a great day.

Good morning! It's 33° and clear. It will be a cool but sunny day today. We are going to the early exercise class. I've already had my yogurt and Grape Nuts cereal, and I'm sipping on iced coffee. Will go grocery shopping after that. We went down to the restaurant last night and had the beef tenderloin. As we were finishing an ambulance and fire truck arrived. One of the residents in the E building was in distress. Word about has him in the hospital this morning. We got the bank stuff straightened out, and I have gone into the website and enrolled for e-statements. There was a birthday party for the Baldwin yesterday afternoon...it's been open exactly one year from yesterday. I sampled one of the shortbread cookies...delicious but too sweet to want another!! It was a good gathering with music and good conversation. I went to the IT help session yesterday and got my laptop tuned up. Today we will head to the seacoast to Parker River Wildlife Refuge to see if we can see some of the migrating birds. After that we will have a light shared appetizer lunch at Sylvan Street Grille where we have a -20% coupon to use. Not sure what we will have for supper. Maybe burgers and fries.... Have a wonderful day! Waving!

Ann, you got a lot accomplished yesterday. Enjoy your trip today. I haven't heard a single flock of geese this year nor have I seen any in the cut corn fields in my travels around Lake Champlain where you usually see lots of them. Maybe just my timing.
Car is running defrosting the windows and I am out of here. Lots to do and be home by noon.

Good morning all. A very foggy morning here - can't see across the road right now! Glad I have no early morning plans. 'Tis also very cold, hovering somewhere around freezing right now (7.15am). However, if we're lucky we'll see some sunshine later on. Yesterday, I got our balcony cleared of flowers and herbs and all cleaned up. I also managed to get some daffodils planted in the gardens outside - now we'll see if the squirrels leave them alone! Nothing too much planned for today - a 'take it as it comes' day. Soup for supper last night hit the spot. I made a beef vegatable soup, using a bit of this and a bit of that. I added a tin of refried beans as a thickener and that worked very well. Probably enough for another 3 meals for us. I have given up trying to make enough soup for 2 people for 1 meal - it just doesn't work!! Guess this morning I need to get that packaged and into the freezer. We'll see where that takes me. Have a great day.

An early start for you this morning Bet. Hope you can get your freezer problems solved today. We have seen just a few geese flying over this fall - you would think by now they would be on the move.

Good morning everyone. Chris, apple picking can be so much fun. We don’t do that anymore, ..but do buy our apples at an orchard. Ann, I’d be lost without my iPad. Have a computer which I use several times a week, but I can sit anywhere and use my iPad. They sure have lots going on at the Baldwin, don’t they? Tammy, you deserve some time off from all the cooking you do for others. Bet, hope you have another easy day today, no surprises and home early. Yeah, my hands still ache, but getting better. My typing is half diction and half choosing words at the top of my keyboard. Also haven’t done much the last few days. Vacuumed the living room yesterday morning, Hazel did the bedrooms while I finished my book in the afternoon. Changed our minds about supper last night, had grilled cheese and tomato soup. We prefer homemade soups but with grilled cheese it’s gotta be Campbell’s. Tonight we’ll have the chicken thighs. Coffees ready. Jan

continuing….. Tasty, still dark here at 7 o’clock, 30*, going up to 48*. Brrrr. Hope it turns out sunny. We always have several meals left after making a pot of soup. Nice to have on hand. The only gardening I do now is in my patio pots. We both miss that part of our life but just don’t have the strength to do it anymore. I’ve missed somebody I’m sure, will be back later to continue reading. Jan

Good morning. This morning I slept in a little bit and it felt good. It was a chilly ride to the pet area this morning. My ears can't tolerate the cold air so I may have to start wearing my ear muffs when I go down there. Or remember to put the windshield up to block the cold air. Lisa and Bobo came shortly after we got there. Mandy greeted Bobo and then did her business and was ready to come home. I think she was cold. Mandy is all curled up in a ball in her bed behind me.
Today I hope to finish my cleaning, dusting included. Yesterday I made two Easter cards that turned out nicer than I thought they would. No cards today and no sitting all day either.
Yesterday just before supper Johnny stopped over with a nice sized container of his chicken and dumpling soup. That man loves to cook and he shares. It is oh so good. That may be my lunch today.
Jan, oh how I miss fresh off the tree apples. There were/are so many good orchards in MN with wonderful apples. Down here they are shipped in months later and not nearly as good. It's no wonder I don't eat many apples anymore. Maybe, though, I'll buy some so I can make apple crisp, a fall favorite.

Good morning and happy Friday! I have had a hard time this week, partly because of not sleeping well, and partly because of just being tired of the situation and missing my house. But, I got a good sleep last night and also made progress yesterday and this morning on the inventory, so am feeling much better. We also talked to the adjuster last night. He sent us a damage report and estimate, so DH will talk to the contractor today and hopefully things can start to move forward.
The inventory form that we're using requires the age, condition, and cost of every item -- so imagine that for every single thing in your closet, bedroom, and bathroom. All the OTC & prescription meds, first aid supplies, beauty & grooming stuff, clothing, linens -- it gets tedious, but it also adds up to more than you would think! Which is why I'm willing to get it done. 😊
Pork and apples are a great combo, Chris! Good eats at your house this weekend.
Bet, fingers crossed that the repair guys will come early and get it all taken care of today.
Ann, sounds like a fun outing today. I'm glad you were able to get the bank issues straightened out.
Tasty, I like the idea of refried beans to thicken your soup -- will keep that in mind!
Jan, we have a great local produce market and they always have mountain apples so I enjoy getting them there. I'm with you on the Campbells soup with grilled cheese!
Mamma, I love chicken and dumplings so that soup sounds great.
Well, it's time for me to head off to work. Hope it's a great day for all of us!

Good morning. We are having lots of fly overs this morning. The base must be practicing. We need to go grocery shopping this morning. We are having turkey on Sunday and all the stuff that goes along with it. I haven't decided if I will make a pumpkin pie yet. This afternoon I have down and dirty UNO and Bruce has pool. I need to come up with something for supper as they cancelled the Weiner Roast because of the heat.

Well I got a little sidetracked from cleaning house. I went to the shed to see what I could to make some room in there and get rid of some stuff. The previous owners left us with JUNK and Mark never was up to cleaning it out. So now it's up to me. Some things I don't know where to go with it at all. Paint and crud like that. Grrrrrr. I would like to use the space for storage and not their c***. I did enough of that inside when we moved in. I did get rid of non toxic stuff but it's now to warm to do much more outside in the sun. Looks like I could still clean inside.
Lunch is done and now to do the dishes before I start anything else. I've got a Beach Boys CD playing, that should get me up and moving. Fun fun fun etc..... :)

Good afternoon, friends. Hope this finds everyone having a lovely day!
Yesterday after my PT session I was so tired. I sat in the Lazy Boy when I got home and that was the end of me for a few hours. When I got up, I did some prepping for my dinner on Saturday when DD and DGD come for a visit. I gave DD a choice of several meals that she will rarely make for herself; she asked for meatloaf, potato salad, baked beans, and marinated cucumbers. Finished the potato salad at 6 this morning, took baked beans from the freezer, and I just finished the cucumbers. Will mix and bake meatloaf tomorrow afternoon.
Looks like dinner this evening will once again be soup from the freezer---turkey rice. We talked about making something but forgot that I had a doctor appointment earlier this morning and cooking was pushed to the back burner. This past week, having ready items in the freezer has been a blessing. My next two weeks are going to be busy with PT, OT and several different doctor appointments, so once more I know that freezer will be the answer for meals on several of those days.
Chris, how I miss apple picking! Apple sauce, apple butter, and pork---yum, sounds like you how to celebrate with family and friends! Enjoy your time together!
Bet, once more you made my day with posting another beautiful picture. Thanks for taking the time to do that each day---deeply appreciated! Praying by now the refrigeration guys have found you house and gave you some good news.
Tasty, hope you enjoyed a slow and relaxing day. I also hope the squirrels will pass your daffodil bulbs by that come spring you can enjoy them.
Ann, were you and Bill able to spot any of the migrating birds today on your "fieldtrip" to the seacoast?
Jan, I love grilled cheese sandwiches with Campbell's tomato soup---childhood comfort! We never got out tomato picking at the farm this spring, but I love to make homemade tomato too. For some reason grilled cheese and tomato soup just go hand and hand!
mamma, nice that Mandy got a chance to say hello to Bobo this morning and you to Lisa. Very nice of your neighbor who enjoys cooking to share his results with you!
Elza, taking account of everything that you lost sounds so over whelming and time consuming! I know you unfortunately have no other choice in the matter, but now it sounds like with your constant effort you are making a dent in it. How do you have the remainder of the house closed off/locked up to prevent additional weather damage and looters? Is it this weekend or next that you will be moving to the rental? You and yours continue to be in my prayers.
Elaine, what time is dinner on Sunday? LOL--- I LOVE turkey and all the fixings!! I've never been a big fan of pumpkin pie and have only made a few in my lifetime. My usual go to has always been the Libby's pumpkin roll, but I have also made a frozen pumpkin ice cream pie and a pie that was pecan on the bottom and pumpkin on the top. I'm sure you'll come up a delicious final desse
Currently it is a warm 87*. I'd like to see our temperatures in the 70's, but the forecast through November 8th is calling for 87* each day. Nights should be in the low 60's, but they too are not cooling down and therefore not giving us even cooler mornings. Per DB back in Michigan and DH, they both tell me that the Farmer's Almanac is saying we will see a cool and wet winter down here---we'll see.
Time to slowly begin warming up the soup. DH is talking about baking some biscuits to go with it and just informed me he found in the freezer two slices of a chocolate chip peanut butter pie I made. Oh my, but yum!
Waving to all! Lori

Hi ! Another lovely day here. We surely do need rain though.
I worked today, then came home and got the lemon dump cake in the oven. After it baked I laid down but not sure I ever really slept. The menu for Bible study pot luck tonight is soup, rolls, salad, chicken salad sandwiches, and my lemon dessert. I think there will 14. We have a few more couples on the roll but they never responded to the announcement so not sure if they are coming.
Supper was good last night. Even though it is a steak house and most everyone ordered a steak, I really did not want one, so I got their fried chicken salad. It hit the spot for me. So I did get a break from cooking last night, and the dump cake was super easy tonight. I did not get the tetrazzini made Wednesday. I was exhausted from cooking the other meal that I delivered, so I used a pizza crust I bought and put together a pepperoni pizza. The tetrazzini will be supper tomorrow.
I asked Marty to make a dessert for Tuesday but she is working a project so is busy with that. I ran across a recipe called Oreo torte. It is just prepared vanilla instant pudding mixed with cool whip and crushed oreos. I think I will make that for Tuesday-super easy!
There is a couple who came to Care as volunteers when we worked back in 2015. The ended up moving to Care. I just found out they are moving. The have 2 sons and both live near Boston, so they are moving to be close to family. They sold their motor home so are going to be staying in our apartment for 1 to 2 weeks before they leave Texas. I'm going to try and have them for dinner one night. Maybe serve smoked brisket since it will probably be their last chance to eat some as good as DH's !!
Waving to everyone. Need to run and get a few things done here and get myself ready to leave. Sleep well friends.

Just talked to DH about our friends who are staying in the apartment before moving...however, they are not moving after all! They were feeling pressured by the sons to move but they have decided they really do not want to move! They are buying a brand new rv since they have already sold their current one. They will stay in the apartment during the transition. They donated a 3 wheel bicycle to the shop to sell...wonder if they need it back?
