Good morning friends.
Yesterdays veggies from Veggie Van Go were Fresh corn on the cob, yogurt, eggs, lettuce, carrots, and Butternut squash. I cooked the corn and will make corn chowder for this weekend. Squash soup also.
Lori- I sure hope you are resting up and being pampered!
I have a baby shower later today and will go grocery shopping after as we have Dan's cousins staying here Monday and Tuesday. We will be going to the old Smith family cemetery in Smithsville. It is Dan's great great grandparents. Last person buried there was in 1846 and there are only 6 graves but the town of Proctorsville takes very good care of the place. Some one even built a really nice bench beside it. It is located right on the banks of the Black river and the last two floods could have taken it out but has not. Is a bit of a walk to it but it is so neat!

So I was just out in the kitchen making my Mocha and glance out the kitchen window in time to see Blackie ambling across the yard! He is getting big!

Good morning! It's clear and cool this morning. We really need rain. Haven't had measurable rain since August 11th. Everything is 'ova', and the checks are deposited and will clear in 7 business days so we can deposit most at our investment firm. Our realtor gave us a gift certificate as a 'thanks for your trust and business'!! I picked up a rotisserie chicken at the market with a sale tag. I made "Merrimack Valley Chicken Barbs" for supper last night. Haven't had them in quite a while so they were very good. I toasted brioche hamburger buns, spread mayo and piled shredded chicken, sliced tomatoes, and shredded iceberg onto them. Not sure what today will bring. Hope to get back to chat. Waving!

Just a quick good morning from me. Surely something can be done to get rid of Blackie before he does some serious damage? That's just plain scary! Good that everything is 'ova' Ann and now you can relax and enjoy yourselves. Breakfast and then it's off to the fairgrounds for the day.

Good morning. It is 56°here this morning. The sun is just about to peer over the top of the mountain for a beautiful day with temperatures to hit 80°. I have one store to work this morning that will take me about an hour. It is about 20 miles from here. I was going to do it yesterday but when I finished my work up north yesterday and had a few groceries to drop off at the house on my way through town and that was my demise. I should have gone to work and finished for what I accomplished here.
I mentioned I needed canning jars to finish canning the tomatoes I have. They carry them in most of the grocery stores here so planned to buy a dozen yesterday and got sticker shock. The are getting $18 for a case of 12 pint jars. Decided for that price I could do with what jars I had even if they weren't pints. Checked the price on Amazon and the were only $12 for ball jars. I ordered a case and had a $10 certificate that I used but before I placed the order decided to get 2 cases as I am sure they are only going to keep going up. Now if only I could find some 12 oz. ball jars. Nobody has them. Last year I ordered some on Amazon and they aren't standard size. Can't buy replacement lids and bands for them.
About 3 o'clock I decided it was time for Alice to do her work so got all of the kitchen stools etc. out of her way and when I went to my app it started doing strange thing and finally told me I needed to reprogram the wi fi. I tried that and it didn't work so followed all of the trouble shooting and nothing. Finally tried chat with Shark. Sat for ever and finally got a message that everyone was busy to call and speak with an agent. Tried that and was on hold for ever so while on hold I tried the chat and 10 minutes later had someone live on chat so hung up the phone. All and all I was told I would have to call as chat wasn't set up to handle technical problems. At that point I was about ready to contact Woot and send her back. As a last resort I decided to delete the app and download it again. I didn't want to do that as I would have to reprogram my house into it and that meant a lot of furniture moving into bedrooms etc. But will all that I had already done figured I probably work have to do that at this point no matter. So I deleted and reinstalled the app. That was about 6 PM and I couldn't believe it when I finished and opened the app all of my setting were there so about 6:30 Alice cleaned the kitchen and area where my computer is. I got the kitchen floor mopped and finally started dinner when the floor was dry and Alice finished the living room while I cooked dinner and ate. Nice to get up to a nice clean house.
When I get home from work I have everything set to make one of the meat loaves for Monday night. Sort of a trial run on how I want to put it together to bake. The maybe get outside to do some more cuttings as most of my baskets are ready to be dumped. Nothing has done well in this heat we have had this winter so might as well start getting ready for the move into the shop. A lot less full grown plants are being saved and they look just terrible. I may make the transfer station last this afternoon. Sunday and Monday will be spent in the kitchen preparing Monday night meal.
Ann, hope you find some good buys this week while shopping.
Chris, if your weather is like ours is suppose to be you will have some great weather for you little adventure to the cemetery.
Tasty, looks like great weather for your sale today. Good luck.
Have a great day.

Morning. The last couple days I haven't felt like posting, mostly because I wasn't in the mood to talk. I saw my Virgin, no that should be surgeon. Both he and I were expecting it to be a normal follow-up but he knows immediately that I have lost strength in my arms. He thinks something more is going on in my neck and I now have to have x-rays, and MRI, and an EMG on the neck. I was hoping it was just the remains of scar tissue but he thinks it's something more. Nuts.
The jaw problem is not connected, different nerves and muscles. So now it looks as though I am going to spend a chunk of the fall and winter straightening out this last mess. I am trying to stay positive about this but the only thing I can find true laugh about is that I saw him on Friday the 13th!
Lori, hope all is going well for you and you are feeling stronger.
Bet, are you sure it would not have taken less time to actually do the vacuuming than to deal with the technology?
Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning
A warm and very sticky morning. So much for the nice mornings. Because of hurricane Francine and the fact that we are still in monsoon season, the dew point is high and the winds will be high all afternoon into the evening. But at least it will only be in the low low 100's for a high.
Whites are in the washer, cookie dough out of the fridge, so it will be more workable, and I am enjoying a real, home made cookie with my coffee this morning. Happy, happy me. No plans for the afternoon other than push the dust mop around, and there is some dusting to do here too.

Birdy, it might of been faster to vacuum but my shoulders would have be going through more torture than my mind and with the time out resting as the lower back would have been screaming it was best to torment the mind and exhausted enough for a good nights sleep. Vacuum is one of the hardest things for me to do for some reason. I can run a chainsaw easier.

Oh, Birdy, I'm so sorry you got discouraging news. Is the jaw surgery still on schedule? Hopefully you can get one thing dealt with before starting on the other. Praying for you, friend. We understand and don't mind if you need to vent.
Chris, like those veggies. When I saw butternut squash, my first thought was soup!
Ann, it's got to be a good feeling to have those checks in the bank.
Bet, you had a busy day yesterday but at least you have a clean house this morning.
Mamma, I can hear how happy you are with your homemade cookies! Nothing better!
After a very busy afternoon yesterday, and a busy Saturday last week, it was lovely to sleep late and move slow this morning. DH wants to try a new BBQ place for lunch so I just had some yogurt with sliced almonds and blueberries for a light breakfast. I have to have something in my stomach to take my vitamins with. The BBQ place is out by Lake Hartwell so we'll have a little drive through the country to get there and that's always nice. After that I can watch my Gamecocks play!
I'm thinking ahead to what to fix for Monday. I'm working in the afternoon instead of morning, to cover for a teller who has to leave early, and I think it might be a good day for soup. I can throw it all together and leave it in the crockpot.

Ann- we are go8ng to grocery store to get everything for subs as meat is on sale this week in the deli.
Bet- hope your work day goes by fast.
Tasty-good luck at the market.
Birdy- I am sorry to hear your news. Just know we are all here for you.
Elza-we sure have used our crockpot alot this summer.
Mamma- I am waiting for dh to get up so I can wash the sheets.
My sister just texted and asked what we should do today as they leave in the morning. I told her no idea. I'm sure dh will watch the race so he won't want to go anywhere.

The fish and chips last nite were delicious and plentiful. Turns out the truck was in front of a craft beer place where we sat to wait and chow down. AC too! Hope it was a successful nite for them so they'll park there again. Nowhere to go today so I can settle in for the afternoon. Supper tonite will be tuna salad on a toasted sesame bagel. Birdy, you've been such a trooper. Good luck with the new treatment. Bet, seems your catered Lion's dinners roll around very quickly. This next one sounds delicious as always. Wish I had one of your Brown Sugar Cookies, Mamma. (Make that two!) Elaine, hope it works out that you and your sister can spend some time together today. Enjoy the weekend, friends.

Afternoon! It's sunny, but the smoke from out west has put a dullness out there. I've cooked the morning away. I decided to make the chicken livers. I ordered two chicken thighs and sides with mushrooms and broccoli. Will save the chicken to make a Cobb salad supper tomorrow. I cut bacon into lardons and baked them in the Breville. I made a small batch of rice and will use the au jus that comes with the dinner on it. The meal came with complementary salads so we'll have those, too. Chris - Your cemetery trip sound interesting. Up the street in Lawrence is a very old cemetery. My friends and I used to walk to it and look through the fence at the old headstones...one was Christopher Columbus...not the famous man, but fun to see the etching on the grave stone. Yikes on Blackie!! Has he attempted getting into your trash? Hope you had fun at the baby shower. Last year, I used al denté cooked cubed butternut to make German-style 'potato' salad based on my nana's recipe. So good. I posted it if you are interested. Birdy - Nuts! I'm so sorry to read of your further health problems. Hope the experience can be expedited. Elza - Hope you enjoyed your ride and lunch at the BBQ place. What did you have? Bet - You are amazing! I would never be able to figure out what you did. Having a small space is great for off week housekeeping. Usually a dust pan and brush works for the floors, but I do have a lightweight vacuum I got on Amazon. It's an upright with a hose. Did I read that you are planning on making meatloaves for your Lion's dinner. I read that due to the uptick on folks doing canning there is a shortage of canning lids!! Go figure. Elaine - Enjoy your subs! What kind of deli meat do you use? I like an Italian with the works or a tuna with the works in pita instead of a roll. Helen - Glad the fish and chips was good! Thinking of Lori and saying prayers for her comfort and recovery. Enjoy your evening! Waving!

Work went well today. Left shortly after 8, dropped the baking stuff off for my chief dessert maker on the way past her house, did my work and was back home a little after 10 which was what I had hoped for. Then I hit the kitchen (well after I stopped here to read). I got one meat loaf mixed up and need to get it in to bake shortly. Still thinking about how I am going to do that. It is suppose to be free form. Got the tomato sauce made for the entire 6 pounds of meat. Need to pull the rest of the beef out of the freezer to thaw for tomorrow and great some cheese to make the Cheesy Garlic Spread for the bread. I planned to go to town about now and get the drinks in the refrigerator for Monday and pick up the chafing dishes I need but didn't get outside as early as I planned. The meatloaf just went in the oven.
Planned on doing a lot of cuttings today but when out and everything was dry. I can understand the greenhouse but with the rain we have had I didn't expect it from the pots. Had to water everything. Well every thing that is stock for cuttings and anything that I will winter over. After I got the green house watered I decided it was too dangerous to work in there as there were so many hornets in there so sprayed them and now have to wait until they stop dropping from the ceiling and the spay stops dripping. At the rate I am going I believe my plants are going to wait until Tuesday before they get hair cuts.
Well since I started this the meatloaf is out of the oven and no cheese leaked out so now to do 3 more just like it tomorrow. Also ordered potting soil and BOSS so I guess I am done for the day when I start doing something then go on to something else before I finis the first thing. Oh yes Alice cleaned where I tracked in from the deck onto the carpet.
I still have to get dinner (BBQ pulled chicken on a homemade sesame seed bun, fresh corn on the cob and fresh tomato from the garden and banana cream pie).
Enjoy your evening.

Ann, we always start with pulled pork -- only way to really judge a BBQ place. It was okay but in our opinion not better than our favorite place here in town. I did like their sides, though -- I had cheesy bacon hashbrown casserole that was to die for. Could have made a meal of that all by itself. It's not a place you would find if you weren't looking for it -- we had a nice little drive along the back roads to get there. After our meal we went to the nearby state park and walked along the shore of Lake Hartwell for a bit before it started spitting rain. Wow, the lake is really down -- I knew we needed rain but that was a pretty stark reminder of just how much.
Came home to watch Carolina play and they were tearing my nerves up. 🫣 It was a close game but they just couldn't pull it out at the end.
DH has decided he's going to the university's 2nd football game this evening since it looks like the rain is holding off -- and he gets in free. Meanwhile, I'm doing laundry and getting info pulled together for a meeting on Tuesday with our financial advisor. I will probably find something easy for supper -- I have tortillas on hand so a cheese quesadilla will probably be on the menu, and I can finish the leftover slaw in the fridge.

Ann, yes I am making a mozzarella stuffed meatloaf. One down 3 to go. Today was a trial run to see how I wanted to do them to be sure the cheese didn't leak out. #1 a success. I may have to go buy another pound of burger as I didn't plan on as many. I have 25 plus 2 maybes. This time of year I usually cook for 24 and have leftovers. Tonight is the time I start getting nervous. I need to go write up my time table for the next 2 days. On this meal I am going to have to really stick to it and also get to town to get the pans I need and get the drinks chilled.
Elza, the cheesy bacon hashbown casserole sounds interesting.
