Todays question is thanks to Jean!
Do you keep your shafts or blinds constantly drawn? (I think shafts may have been a typo and supposed to be shades, but maybe some call them shafts...IDK)
Believe it or not....I have 48 windows in my house and I only have a shade on 1 of them. It is in the downstairs bathroom and I do keep that down all of the time. I have lacey sheers at all of my windows because I love letting light in...especially on a sunny day. In the summer while watching the 6 pm news, I sometimes wish I could pull a shade or close a blind because the glare on the TV, but I just live with it. Charlene

Wow, that's alot of windows Charlene.
We have blinds on our front 4 kitchen windows, our bedroom and the living room. We live in Arizona so in the summer yes, the blinds are closed all the time. We the spring ,fall and winter they are open all the time.

I keep the shades down in my bedroom and DGS does too I think. The front den windows had blinds but I took them down when the cats destroyed them. They've basically shredded the curtains but don't do that now that they are older and especially since I let them outside some. I open the curtains a little in the morning now to open the window for fresh air but when it begins to heat up both get closed. The dining room window has shredded curtains as well but I will probably toss them soon. The other front bedroom has blinds and curtains and I've closed the blinds now that the plants are no longer in there. The kitchen and back window in the den don't have anything up since no sun or neighbors in the back.

Here at the cottage, each window has blinds. I open and close them during the day but close them at night. Miss my curtains but having them hung would be a real nuisance opening and closing the blinds under them. Know what you mean by the glare on the TV screen though, Charlene.

The bathroom curtain is almost always closed. Two windows in the living room are also usually closed as they look over the front sidewalk, which is only 8 feet away. Our bedroom curtain is open until dh goes to bed, then he closes the south side one as the streetlight shines right in. Joan

I only have blinds on a couple windows and the rest of the windows have drapes. I keep them open during the day and closed at night. The living room windows have shears along with the drapes and on sunny days if I want to watch TV I often have to close the drapes.

Not a curtain to be found here! Blinds all around tho. The only blind that gets closed on a regular basis is our bedroom just to keep it dark.

We too have a lot of windows. Curtains in the living room rarely get closed, but sometimes in winter to block the sun to see the tv. In the summer the trees shade the house. The great room has 6 windows plus a door and no blinds or curtains. Our house is up on a hill and no way to see inside unless you are a bird. Lol! Bedrooms have curtains and those do get shut for light, except dd1s room has blinds and she never shuts them.

I only close the shutters on lower half of my bedroom and bathroom windows. I like everything open and bright and the very first thing that I do every morning is to fling them open. First thing.no drapes in this house. Just lacy cafe curtains with lacy valances. If I closed things up I would feel depressed, trapped, suffocated. If the sun is shining I want to wake up to it.

Hello,
I open and close the blinds and shades in our home everyday, I am a person who enjoys the sunshine and even the cloudy days and the idea of never being able to see the birds and squirrels or the clouds seems pretty depressing.
I realize everyone is different and looks at life in their own way.
Enjoy the day.

I have drapes in all my windows but the only time they might get closed is in the winter at night if it is below zero. I do close the drape on the slider off the deck in my bedroom at night at it is the driveway and yard in front of the garage so anyone happening to come onto that deck it looks right into my bed. Like Jean, I don't like to be closed in and that is the way I feel even at night if the drapes are shut.

The living room has 3 windows the south & west windows have shears and lace curtains. There not closing the sun out. My bedroom I close at night. I don't want the deer peaking in at me. :)

I keep my drapes open most of the time, but in heat and cold closed. Some of the windows have both drapes and blinds.

No shades & no blinds; just curtains & sheers & what they call Roman shades on a couple of windows which aren't much different than curtains except you can raise & lower them.
Everything gets opened in the mornings & closed at night. Curtains, etc; get pulled open & then pulled shut at night. I like my privacy once it gets dark. If curtains are still open, it makes me feel like people are looking in my windows.

We have blinds on all our windows and they are closed at night. DH is a big one for closing them early...I often raise them again unless it's dark outside.
