The family room is all blinds. The living room is drapes with sheers. The very first thing I want to do in the morning is open everything up. As Molly used to say, "I'm solar powered." DH has taken on a decidedly negative position on sunlight. Why that is so changes from time to time. It can be about the sun washing out the screen on the TV, or that it bothers his eyes. The optometrist said some of it could be from his cataract surgery. There is no filter so the sun could genuinely bother him. DH used to bellyache starting in the fall about how he hated losing the sunshine, so this is a weird change of pace for us. We do debate this often in January and February, but by now he generally does give in and allow me to have the blinds open for the seedlings. Perhaps this is because he sees the growth on the seedling table and realizes they do need as much light as possible. I happen to be claustrophobic and don't do well being all closed in, so I tend to spend plenty of my days in the office where I can have a lot of daylight and watch the birds.
