Good morning. 24 headed to 54. I will be at work for a decent chunk of the day but will get outside once I am home. Dd is hosting a team bonding bonfire at our house tonight so at least its a nice day to hang out outside.
Yesterday morning I went to Target, Walmart, and Aldis. Once all that was put away it was lunch time and dd and I watched the last episode of a series we have been watching. Its a Korean show called Physical 100 where 100 contestants compete to see who is has the best overall physical stamina. The things they had to do was crazy. Fun to watch. Dd loves Korean tv (I know Karen will love this!). She watches way more Korean tv shows than American. Once that was over I headed outside. Got my filthy car washed and stacked the last of the wood in a temporary pile so I can clean up the mess later. We walked after dinner since it was so nice out.
Gayle-How about a ground cover type low growing sedum? Hardy and not fussy and gets blooms.
I should go get ready for work. Would be awkward to show up in pjs tho the town I am working in its probably ok. Lol!🤦🏻♀️
Have a great day.

Good morning. Grey and cloudy and wet. Have had 3 days of rain and some snow but that melted as soon as it landed. Needless to say I have ponds around the yard. Bette sorry your getting heavy wet snow. I really thought we were going to have an early spring.
My boss gave us Monday off because of the eclipse. The way it sounds there is going to be thousands of extra people all over for the event. I did invite a few friends over to watch it so it should be more fun.
I need to do the last bit of transplanting. I brought in the card table and need to get that set up with lights. Everything is growing well and running out of room. Still have to start sunflowers but will wait until it's almost time to get everything acclimated to outside.
Have a wonderful day.

Good morning everyone. It is 28º and going to lower 50s later and we are getting sunshine! We haven't seen that in a few days, so it's a welcome sight.
Yesterday I filled my friend's bird feeders, took Curt to the post office and then I took Phyllis to lunch and did some work at her house when we got back. Once I got home I planted a few more seeds. I cannot believe how many of the seeds I planted Tuesday night are up already. I will take a pic and share on Gayle's picture thread.
I have no big plans for today, but I know I am going to spend some time in the GH. It will feel like heaven in there with the sun shining.
Melissa....eautiful meme....it looks like some of the pics Mary marnee shares from the tulip farm. Glad you're getting some nice weather and it sounds perfect for the bonfire. Do you have to provide marshmallows and hotdogs....lol? I have never watched Korean TV, but I do watch some of the British comedies which I like.
Sandy...Great to have the day off from work. It will be fun watching the eclipse with friends. I don't think we're having complete darkness, but I will be at work, so won't see any of it.
Karen....Yay on getting the handicap permit. I have one in my car that Lair has to use for people that transport him. I can't lie....I've been known to use it when Lair is not with me....lol. Sorry about DH's fall, but I agree with Tasty and others on encouraging him to use walker or cane all the time.
Leslie....Many here are changing churches because of similar church "politics". All of the churches in our area have part time pastors/priests because that is all they can afford with low membership. My church's minister serves 4 churches in the area (Lutheran). I know you will find a church that fits you better. The church you left will miss you since I know you did lots of volunteer hours helping with many things. I like to listen to church on the radio in my GH.....that's where I feel closest to God.
Gayle...Your options are endless if you don't mind invasive. I think you used to have creeping phlox there, so obviously you've given up on them. Melissa mentioned sedum...I have seen the Dragon's blood red sedum and they're gorgeous. When Larry and I visited Julie in WI, she had a huge area of creeping thyme and they were in bloom when we were there....beautiful bright blue flowers. Mary Marnee's lithodora is also a beautiful blue creeping flower. And there's always lamium. I have purple, lavender and pink. They are pretty even when not in bloom because of there whitish/aluminum looking leaves. Maybe a combination of several different varieties of plants would ensure something blooming most of the time.
Happy Friday to all. Charlene

Good morning all. Cars end up in an awful mess with the winter weather so it's always nice to get them cleaned up, inside and out. We'll be in the same busy state as you Sandy, come Monday and the eclipse. Town is expected to be heaving with visitors. My walking is done, I've had breakfast and now I'm ensconced in front of the TV to watch more curling from Switzerland. Have a fabulous Friday 🌞.

Good morning all! 59° now but the sun is coming up full so it will probably get close to 80.
Yesterday was a volunteer morning to rake two of the ovals. We had a nice turnout. Actually a rectangle, five villas (they are duplexes so 10 units X one villa (two families) to give you an idea of the size. Very long, I don't know if I can compare it to a football field or not. Then the amount of raking involved depends on tjethe amount of the large oak trees. The two we did yesterday are like small forests.
The next two Thursdays there isn't quite as much. I think mine has only three or four trees so I'll probably end up doing most myself. Plus my own large corner plot has my two, one with three trunks, large ones. I've don't three rakings alone of that. I don't mind, it's great exercise and I'm outdoors.
The trees are looking more green now which means it has pushed most the dead ones out and we can take advantage of the winter residents who are still here to get it done.
Sorry for the snow Bet. Hope your electric is back. Sandy, glad you had mostly rain.
Have a great day all!.

Sandy and Tasty, hope the eclipse is worth all the activity. I'm not in that path so there's almost no talk about it.
Sandy, it is nice of Wegmans to give their employees off to go see it.

Good morning. I've been lazy so far but it's time to get up and get busy. I need to scoop the litter boxes and take the trash before I head out to burn some of the limbs I've been piling up. I haven't called yet but I'm thinking it should be ok. Alexa says the winds are only 2 mph now and going to be around 8. Earlier she said 7. My county is one of the largest in the state so when I call the forestry number I'm not really sure if it's accurate for where I am.
Sandy and Tasty, I'm sure you will enjoy the eclipse. I saw where Rochester was going to be packed with people. It's nice to get a day off to watch it. In 2017 I took a vacation day just so I could see it since it's something you don't see often in your lifetime.
Gayle, if it's a slope perhaps I should post a pic that my sister in law posted of the slope in front of their house covered in beautiful ajuga blooms now. They live in the mountains so it's a big slope. I have a little bit of ajuga in my back yard but it hasn't really spread in all the years I've had it. Perhaps I should pamper it a little because I wouldn't care if it took over the hill back there. Charlene mentioned sedum and I have Chinese sedum in some of the beds in front that I leave. It takes root if you just toss it on the ground. There are tiny yellow flowers in spring and the leaves turn a reddish color in fall. I'm sure it could probably be invasive but I've been fine with it. It started as a small piece in a pot that my ex gave me years ago. Someone had given it to him. While repotting it once pieces fell off so I just tossed them over the porch railing and they rooted. Hope you find a solution that you like.
Better get moving.

The guy on TV said that our area will see 85%-90% of the eclipse so that's enough to be very noticeable that it's darker than usual. He said the next one is in 2044, so I won't be around to see that! Charlene

Wendy I don't work at Wegmans. I work for a management company renting apartments. :) I'm aware of where you work. I was only commented because I know Wegmans is in your area. Your area has been on the news because of the eclipse. Not so much here, we're only going to have a partial.

We have sunshine but the little weather reading at the bottom of my screen says "mostly cloudy", so I probably ought to appreciate this sunshine while I can. My favorite meteorologist said that today will be our 7th day in a row of being cloudy. That seems about right. I'd really like that weather warmup the weather folks have been promising us. It seems to keep getting pushed back. Allegedly, we will be partly sunny over the weekend and quite sunny next week - and warm. Several days have us very close to 70 if not above that. Yay! DH seems to be okay after his tumble yesterday. He did express concern over another fall so we discussed him using his walker around the house, and if not that, then his cane for sure. I don't know that it will matter to him, but I am sure the PCP will strongly suggest he start doing one or the other when we see him in June. He was never a stubborn person before the dementia, but he can be now. I think it has to do with him feeling like he has no control over anything so he will do whatever he can his own way whenever he can. Life has to be hard for him now. My plan for the day is to start cleaning out the van and getting it ready for sale. If I can, I may head to the car wash later and have the outside done. I've made quite a mess of the garage which needs tending to also. During the winter, I'm not as good about putting things where they go so there is a pile on the desk in the garage that has to get cleaned up. I am considering taking my pots back outside, but may wait until the weekend on that. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be warmer than today. When I complete one of my tasks, I might treat myself to some transplanting time. With most of the dishes having most of the seeds up now, I think I can get a lot of things into cell packs. I went bat crap crazy sowing seeds this year, but I am going to love how it looks in a few months. As usual, seed sowing got me through the winter. Really pretty meme, Melissa! My eye is trained to see the word "Korean", so my heart skipped a beat when I saw it in your post. If my time were my own, I would love to check out some Korean programming. Very nice that you were able to enjoy a walk after dinner. Won't be long now and you will be able to do that often. Sandy, I hope you and friends enjoy watching the eclipse. When I went to the BMV yesterday, they were selling eclipse glasses. For a split second, I thought about buying a couple of pairs. DH has no interest and I don't really either, but I hope it is exciting for those who watch. What I appreciate, Charlene, about the way Ohio does their handicap permits is that they are portable. The person who waited on me yesterday told me that it is good for whatever vehicle I am riding in whether I am the driver or a passenger. Nice that Iowa does that also. While the ability to take it with me is a benefit, I don't always remember to take it with me when I ride with others. I think of it when the driver is looking for a parking spot. LOL! What besides zinnias are you planting? Enjoy the curling, Tasty. Wendy, I'm glad to hear you had a nice turnout for the raking project. That had to make things much easier and go quicker. I hope, Leslie, that you were able to recharge you batteries by being "lazy" this morning. We need to do that from time to time. That is very responsible of you to check with the forestry division before you burn. I'll bet not everyone does that. Well, I still haven't had breakfast yet. Once I eat, I'll work on my to-do list for the day. Wishing everyone a fantastic Friday however you will be spending yours!

Good morning because it is right now but maybe not when I post.
The temperature is 43° and it is cloudy, maybe a peep of sun now and then. We had some more rain last night but it is not raining at the moment.
Did anyone feel the earthquake? I did not but there were reports that people felt it. I was probably on the road then so would not have felt it. Happened in NJ. Asked if my son and DIL felt it, she said the kids working for them felt it but she did not. The kids would probably have been outside walking dogs.
Have lots of things to do so I shall go and get at some of them.
Have a good day.
