Good morning everyone. It is 34º and going to lower 40s later.
I was awakened at 4:21 this morning by a phone call from my 92 yr old neighbor lady. There was no reply at the other end, but I feared the worst and went to her house to see what was going on. Of course her house was locked up like Fort Knox and no lights on. I hollered her name and no reply. At that point I went home figuring it was a butt dial. I no more than crawled into bed and she called again. This time I heard her in the background saying "call 911". I did just that and dressed again and went to her house. This time there was a light on in the bathroom, but no way to get into her house. I called her daughter to come with a key. Her DD arrived about the same time as the sheriff and ambulance. Once in the house they discovered her on the bathroom floor where she said she had laid a couple of hours. Once they got her up and checked her over it was decided that she was okay and didn't need to go to the hospital. Needless to say, my night's sleep had come to an end and today was the day I was going to sleep in this week.
Yesterday was a long day. We left home at 7:30 and got back a little after 5. I got absolutely nothing done at home since I was beat.
Today I am taking Lair to the doctor if he is able to get an appointment. This afternoon I am cleaning for the neighbor lady. In between the gals are coming for lunch.
Happy Tuesday to all. Charlene

Good morning. It's a rainy day here and of course this is the day that a lot of my Amazon orders will be delivered since I combined them to save them with shipping. One has already been delivered, which is weird. It wasn't combined with others but I did order another item at the same time that will be delivered later today. They were both cat litter but different brands. At least I only had to get that heavy box in the house, and I won't be having to run out for litter for a while. I didn't bake the cookies yesterday but will do that today since the ones I had baked are now gone. I was thinking about freezing the dough that was left but might as well bake them. I'm also thinking about mixing up some of the oatmeal raisin dough and freezing balls of it so that I can just pop them in the oven next month for gifts and for family. My only problem is a good way to freeze them because I don't have cookie sheets since I use stones for baking them and I'm not sure what will fit in my fridge freezer to do that. But I'll find a way since they will only have to be in there like that long enough to freeze. I think I need to do laundry today also.
Wow, Charlene, so sorry about your night but glad she's ok. Hope you catch up on that rest tonight.
Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Good morning. 33 and gloomy. This will be the temp for the day and falling by afternoon.
Yesterday was a crazy day but it all worked out. Worst part was I woke up at 3:30 and was just dozing off at 5:15 when dh asked if I was awake. I had told him I was going to get up early so had time to deal with Cooper. I set my alarm for 6:30 and maybe got another 45 mins of sleep. I decided to not attempt feeding him until we got home. The vet agreed that it was likely a tick borne infection due to the swelling of his limbs and the conjunctivitis. He prescribed 21 days of antibiotics 3x a day plus an anti inflammatory to use for 7-10 days. This vet clinic is 45 mins from our house. He is way more reasonable than any of our local vets where the cost would have been double to triple what I paid. Once home and had him settled I ironed dds clothes and drove her the 80 minutes for an interview. Kind of a waste of her time. They really were looking more for a retired science teacher vs a scientist. Being 21 she didn’t have the experience they were looking for. We went to Duluth and went shopping after. I got a few Christmas gifts so not a total waste of my day. We got home just before 6. I was asleep on the couch by 8:30. Got a good 90 minutes before heading to bed. Good thing since then I was up until midnight and awake at my usual 3:30. This is getting really old. Nothing pressing today at least. Just some local shopping and a trip to the library.
Charlene-What a night you had. Glad she was ok after getting help up. Good she at least had her phone with her.
I plan to read and chill here a while before heading to town. I hate that the library doesn’t open until 10. I like to run all my errands at once but prefer to go to walmart earlier than later.
Have a good day.

Charlene, how scary for you. I am glad you were able to help. Leslie, I freeze cookie balls quite often. Saves on time when you need just a few. Melissa, our library doesn't open until 10 either and it bugs me. I just have to take a deep breath and realize most of the world is still asleep when I get up; usually between 5 and 5:30. I started the cranberry salad a few minutes ago. No one really likes it except for me so I made 1/2 batch. Sometime soon I will have to go to the nearby dollar store to buy an anniversary card for DS and wife as well as DGD and husband. The cards in our local grocery store are $3 and up. Cheaper to drive 10 miles. Marlene

Melissa...Actually she didn't have her phone with her. A few weeks ago I set up her Alexa to call people since she can't see to dial numbers any more. When she fell she hollered from the bathroom, "Alexa, call Charlene" Alexa heard her and called me, but Phyllis could not hear what I was saying but knew I was there so she said call 911. I just wonder why she didn't say to call her DD instead of me since she lives less than 2 miles from town. Today her DD is getting an Alexa for her bedroom/bathroom area and getting me a set of keys made. Often her DD is gone with her husband on the road with his job. Just lucky she was home this wee. Good morning all! 77° and sunny. I was a member of the Could Not Sleep Club too! It feels like it should be good afternoon. I had a nice walk this morning and watered. One of my friends is off on a missions trip so I've been watering for her too.
Charlene, after your cleaning and entertaining I hope you'll be able to catch up on some rest.
Have a great day all!

Marlene=no Dollar tree near you? they have lovely cards 50cents and 1.00 ones. Mary, I live 13 miles from the nearest WM and Dollar tree. Last week I saw that DT is changing their cards to almost all being $1.00. Can't say I blame them. Still cheaper than most stores that sell cards. Marlene

Good afternoon,
We are 57 & rainy. No complaints about that. The rain is mostly light showers, supposed to get stormy tonight. Wind & heavier rain. We need the rain.
I've been to the local Transfer station & paid a few bills.
Cats are fed & I've had my Brunch, so all set for a day of doing ???? I do need to figure out how to vacuum under my bed. I was looking for a lost sock under there one day last week & OMG does that need to be vacuumed. Looks like a mat of dog hair under there. Yet the other one (twin beds) is fine. It has rollers on it but doesn't roll too well on carpet.
I may run up to the community library to take some books back. And now they are saying we need some kind of sticker on our ID cards to show we are a "Member in good standing" I thought that's what the card was for. Oh well.
Melissa, sorry to hear Cooper has that issue. Hopefully the meds will have him feeling better real soon. I wish we had a vet clinic here. Vet bills are outrageous, just like everything else. And it's hard to get an appt. which is how I ended up with a vet coming to the house to take care of Chelsea recently. When I took Prince for his check up 2 wk ago & then went back to pick up the RX the office was pretty much empty both times. So I don't understand why it was so hard to get an appt.
The only type of clinic we have here is at the Tractor store in summer when you can take your pet there for shots.
Marlene, I am 15 miles from anything.
Charlene, is the lady that fell the same one you are cleaning for today?

Hello everyone, I am home, first one dropped off, the others (sisters) have a way to go yet. It is raining so not a real nice day to travel. We stopped for lunch so will not be having much for dinner tonight. Had breakfast and lunch out, both were good. Nothing much to say so have a good day.

Guess what it has been doing here for the better part of 24 hours ... raining. Such a dismal looking and feeling day. It is supposed to be in the lower 50s right now, but I am chilled to the bone even in the house. I can hardly wait for the temperature drop. At least Thursday is supposed to be sunny. That should help offset the chill. Today started out early for me. Not my favorite thing since I had a few holes in my night. I even resorted to turning on the TV a couple of times. It was a busy morning around here. I had mashed potato balls to get made and delivered to the church by 8:30 for a funeral luncheon so I could get home and pick up DH for his 9am doctor's appointment. Somehow, we made it with 2 minutes to spare. DH had a field day with that since I was grumpy that he wasn't fully dressed when I got home from delivering the food. Before I left, I had creamed his feet and got his compression socks on. All he had to do was put on a shirt and his shoes. Or so I thought. He changed his clothes completely while I was gone and spent time in the bathroom. Given what I hear about other ALZ patients, that is pretty good. Speaking of ALZ, this is the first time that the doctor's diagnosis was early-onset ALZ. I thought he was considering it vascular dementia based on the stroke. I guess in the end it doesn't matter. DH is just not himself anymore no matter what we call it. The doctor did an ultrasound on DH's neck since he mentioned having a pain sometimes near his thyroid, and I guess with his diabetes and the medication he takes the thyroid has to be watched. It didn't look great, but not quite as bad as the doctor first thought he was detecting. We came away with a fistful of testing orders and a new order for Ozempic. DH asked about that to help with weight loss. The doctor said if insurance covers it, we could try it. If not, it would be $1,100 a month. No thank you! I still have to call the pharmacy to see what the verdict is on that. Needless to say, I napped this afternoon after finally eating a little bit of breakfast/lunch lumped together. Caregiving is a cheap way to lose weight. There isn't always time to eat 3 meals a day. When I got up from napping, I tackled the refrigerator. It needed a good cleaning before Friday and it was a pretty easy thing to knock off my list. I had the freezer on the list, but at this point I am simplifying my tasks. No freezer cleaning for me today! Pretty much all I have left to do is the kitchen appliances need wiped down along with the countertops. The floor will be the biggest job. I am going to have to get out the kneeler to do the job right. The family room can be done in short order, but DH's bathroom will be a chore. One that I am saving for Thanksgiving Day so it hopefully stays clean longer. Oh, I guess I have a couple of salads to make and maybe pumpkin bread. I'm debating on doing that now or waiting for the kids' visit. Time will decide for me, I think. Charlene, you had yourself quite a night! My goodness!!! It is a wonderful idea for the neighbor lady's daughter to get you keys and another Alexa for her mom. So glad you had that set up for her! I hope Lair could get an appointment so you could take him. I'll bet you were glad to relax today with your friends for lunch. Good luck, Leslie, figuring out how to freeze your cookie dough. It sounds like a great idea to freeze now and bake later. Of course it would be rainy when you had deliveries coming because a nice day would be too easy. I'm glad to hear that Cooper is getting treatment, Melissa. Hopefully he will start to feel better soon. Nice that you found a clinic that doesn't cost an arm or a leg. If nothing else, your DD got some interview experience, but frustrating for her I'm sure. Marlene, I'm the only one who likes cranberry anything so I stopped buying it. Now that you mention it, though, it sounds yummy. I just may treat myself. Greeting cards can be ridiculously expensive. I am glad to get what I can at Dollar Tree. Their cards are nice so I stock up to have certain things on hand. Your world, Wendy, is so different from mine. I shiver at the thought of taking a walk and watering outside. LOL! Nice that you got the spinners taken care of, Mary! Gayle, I hope you work out the vacuuming issue easily. Did you find good books at the library? Glad to hear, Carol, that you are home safe and sound. Definitely not a nice travel day today. Well, I better head to the kitchen. DH is wondering about supper. Me, too, and then I need to check in on DM. Wishing everyone a nice night!

Charlene, you certainly had a rough night after a very long day Monday. Glad you neighbor is OK and thank goodness you set Alex up for her and her daughter is stepping to get keys for you. You live alone but you certainly are a caregiver for many folks around you. Hope you get some sleep tonight.
Leslie, I freeze some cookie dough in a log like you buy in the store and pull it out and just slice it off. When I have the great grands getting off the bus from school I had fresh cooking for them everyday. I have also done the balls but didn't like them as well. I have been know to keep sturdy cut up cardboard boxes as pans to put things in the freezer. I have a side by side in my kitchen and the freeze is quite narrow. I wrap the cardboard in foil and use them just like a cookie sheet to freeze things on before I package them up in vacuum seal bags to go downstairs to the big freezers.
Melissa, sorry to read about Cooper. My dog was on the antibiotics and was doing well be before he finished the regiment he refused to take them and unfortunately began to deteriorate but I understand if they take all of the meds there recovery is excellent. I am sure DD was a bit disappointed about the interview but as Karen mentioned it was good experience for her handling an interview.
Marlene, I am afraid I am like you family. I don't care for cranberry anything except the dried cranberries. Hope you got your cards today. I was suppose to pick up youngest GGD's birthday card and a gift card for here and totally forgot. Her birthday is tomorrow but I won't see her until Thursday. Looks like if I get snowed in for tomorrow I will be making a birthday card and she will be getting cash.
Wendy, sorry your were a member of the Could Not Sleep Club last night. Hope tonight is better.
Mary, sounds like you are getting your outside area ready for winter.
Gayle, sounds like you had a rather routine day. Those are good sometimes.
Carol, glad you had a good time and are home safe and sound. However sorry the weather wasn't the best for travel today.
Karen, I think you are handling your to do list quite well. I am afraid mine is only getting longer. I think you pretty much expected in the back of your mind the doctor's assessment of DH was coming but certainly didn't want to hear it. No one is going to be checking out your freezer. I think that can wait to be cleaned out. LOL
Good evening. I think I an finally coming back to some semblance of sanity this evening.Yesterday was a hectic day but was real pleased with the final outcome last night. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and sat down to their appetizer just about 6:30 which was on time. We serve buffet style. When it came to the main meal it took a bit of time for 18 people to go through the line. However the actual meeting started about 7:10 only 7 minutes late. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal and gave us a lot of compliments. Seeing empty plates coming back is always my reward.
It was along meeting last night. We finally go to a point where the presenter could send me a copy of the resulting actions that were to be taken so my cohort and myself excused ourselves the the kitchen to start cleaning up and getting everything packed up that had to either be stored at the center or be loaded in my car. It was after 9 when the meeting adjourned. Some of the guys helped get my car loaded and get things to our storage area in the basement. I was almost 10 when I finally got home. Got my car unloaded, food put away and finished filling the dishwasher and got that going before I went to bed. I didn't want to get out of bed this morning but was on the road just after 7:30. Made out good as some of the both stores and completed some of my work so I just had to inspect it and approve it so was home about 2:30.
I have managed in the last 48 hours to eat one shrimp cocktail and a lot of chocolate Halloween candy. I think the candy is about it for dinner tonight except maybe some chez its before I go to bed. Only think I have done since I got home from work file my time sheet, read the 2 boards for the day and write up my report for the food used for dinner last night. Have a lot of turkey left so now I need to come up with a meal for one meeting for leftover turkey. Have been working on a couple of ideas but it probably won't happen until about April. I did move a couple of things in the garage and got the car in. We could get 5-8" of snow tonight turning to rain in the early morning hours. It is going to be a mess by morning. Just turned the deck light on looks like maybe 1/2" so far and it was to have started about an hour ago. It is 27° right now.
I have gotten my second wind about now and don't at the moment feel like bed but I need to be up at daylight to decide if I can do the snow blowing or let my plow guy know that he has to come. Seeing it is suppose to be raining by morning I have a feeling he will be doing it. That is an ouch to the bank account.
Looks like everyone is having a good day without any major crisis. So I will say good night enjoy your evening, no holes in your sleep tonight and rise and shine to a wonderful day tomorrow.
Time to grab the Chez-it box and head to bed and a little TV.
Bet

Good evening.
A long day here too Bet. I left home with hubby at 7.30 this morning, dropped him at the gym and I went off to the hospital to do some counting of one item we made last week and none of us was sure how many we had made 😳 . Got that done and came home for some breakfast then gathered what I needed to take with me today. We have just one more day in the commercial kitchen and so far, everything has gone smoothly and we are right on target. I finally got home about 5.30, had a quick supper with hubby before he headed to the curling club and I got busy in the kitchen with some more baking. Now sitting with my feet up for a while 😊.

Good evening,
The rain did get beyond the shower stage about an hour ago & now is pretty much a steady rain. No wind or downpours yet; approx 1/4" so far for the day,
Didn't make it to the library but did do some filing & got the bed moved so I could vacuum under it. Once I got the bed out of the way, it wasn't as bad as it looked at floor level, but still desperately needed vacuuming. And although it looked like a matted layer of dog hair, that's not what it was. "Just" a thick layer of dust & lint. All gone now. When I was done vacuuming I washed the filter out. Haven't done that in a long time & it was pretty dirty.
Made some cinnamon mini sticks. Something new in a can from Pillsbury. Pretty good.
Karen,at least now you know for sure what DH's official diagnosis is. Somewhere a while back I read this. Difference between Dementia & Alzheimer's:
Dementia is when you set the remote down on the table next to you 5 min. ago & don't remember where it is.
Alzheimer is When you have the remote in your hand & can't find it.
Speaking of remotes; did you know they make special ones for dementia/alzheimer patients?
