Good morning. Just about to head out with hubby as he heads for the curling club once again. My plan is todrive over with him and walk home. Should give me a decent walk and I'll do it today while the sidewalks are bare and dry š. BBL.

Good morning. Seems strange to have a Monday off. I will probably be messed up all week.
Grey and gloomy but mild temps so I won't complain.
Dinner with the family turned out good and played some card games after. I'm glad we could all get together. Today will be clean up day and possibly take down the Christmas tree.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone. It is 24Āŗ and later a high of 30Āŗ. It's supposed to be a cloudy day and 20% chance of snow.
Yesterday I morning I cleaned up the kitchen. Then I decided to replace Santas in my Christmas decorating with snowmen. The tree and other Christmas decorations will remain until after we have our Christmas gathering. When I got that done, I decided to go through the spare bedroom closet to get all of the bingo gifts together. I store them in the closet in that bedroom. Well, that lead to cleaning the closet. In the back of the closet, I came across a tote of fabric that I bought years ago for quilting. I haven't done any quilting since my Mom died in 2005. Finding that box of fabric, lead me down the rabbit hole. I decided I am going to make quilts for the great grands. I washed it all up and ironed it and started cutting out for the 1st quilt. I made pretty good progress by time I decided to quit for the day last night about 6. I will resume sewing on that quilt today and possibly get a 2nd quilt cut out. Sewing those quilts will be a good winter project for me.
Tasty...enjoy your morning walk. Our sidewalks are still a icy in spots.
Karen...It sounds like you and DH are probably the only ones that actually celebrated new years eve.....good for you for making good memories. When you mentioned your arms not being long enough to take selfies, it made me think of those selfie sticks. I wonder if they are still a thing?
Happy Monday to all. Charlene

Good morning. Love that pic Charlene tho the blue jays are kind of my nemesis lately! I have a small window feeder for peanuts and suet nuggets for the small birds and they have figured out how to get on it. Now I need to figure out a way to block them. They can polish off a half a cup of peanuts in minutes and the little birds get very few.
We are grey and gloomy again which is getting old but it beats snow. 18 with a high of 25. Iāll take grey I guess as long as we are warm and no snow. We do have a chance tomorrow but donāt think much is forecast.
Yesterday morning I had dh bring in my totes and I got Christmas put away and winter/snowmen put out. I started un-decorating the tree as well but its so huge its a big job. Told the kids they can help today. We left at 12 and hung out at our friends house until 6, then packed up to come home.
Besides the tree I need a couple groceries at some point today. Iāll have time to kill tomorrow as well as Iāll take ds to the dentist for his wisdom teeth extractions. He has 3 to pull. Dd1 has all 4 and goes next week. Ds1 had lots of dental issues but only had 2 wisdom teeth and still does because of the shape of his mouth/jaw. They donāt bother him and line up with his lower molars. I had none so I joke Iām more evolved!
Tasty-Hope you had a good walk. Lots of sidewalks here are a mess with some not even plowed for some reason this winter. Dh went for a walk one day and had to come back along a busy road because the sidewalks werenāt done. He was not happy.
Sandy-Glad you got your family get together. Enjoy the day off.
Charlene-Quilts for the greats sounds like a great idea and a good way to pass the boring winter months.
Guess I should get organized if Iām going to town. Have a great day.

I've been absent from the board the past few days because while sweeping snow out of the garage I slipped and fell on my back. Luckily I was able to get on all fours and crawl to the garage door support and then pull myself up. After 3 days of icing and tylenol I called the chiropractor for an appointment and was able to get in the same day. Things were going so well that on Saturday I decided to vacuum. Sunday I woke up in intense pain and then it hit me that I should not have vacuumed. While I do not recommend doing this Beth drove over with some prescription pain pills. They did help somewhat. This morning, Monday, I woke up with lots of pain again. I attribute that to the upcoming storm and the anxiety I am feeling about the storm and the pain I'm having. I do see the chiropractor again today. In spite of this, I am feeling blessed because I am mobile, have no broken bones, have all the creature comforts including 3 books. I will be reading the previous posts when I feel up to it. In the meantime, be grateful. Marlene

Marlene...I am so sorry to here that you fell. I've noticed your absence, but attributed it to possibly being busy with holiday activities. I hope the chiropractor can give you some relief. Take it easy! Charlene

We are just about at our expected high of the day. We're sitting at 46Ā°, and the high is likely to be 48Ā°. We'll be cloudy, but shouldn't have rain until tomorrow when we could get heavy downpours throughout the day. Tomorrow's high is expected to be in the low 60s before we crash back down into the reality of January weather. At least nothing on the horizon appears to be anything other than seasonal temps and precip. No extremes so far are being noted. DBIL and DSisIL ended up bringing us 4 packages of ground beef - each about 1.5lbs and 2 chuck roasts when they visited yesterday. That'll keep me from having to buy beef for a while longer and will stretch the grocery dollars a bit. That is sure welcome! I'm not too sure what I'll get into today. Probably ought to work on setting up the bills for the month. I want to send a couple of emails also. Being this is the beginning of the month, we can order new OTC products from CVS. Guess I'll do that for at least DH's allotment. He's been asking about when I could get him more stuff through our insurance. Yesterday was the day. Love the jays, Charlene. I know they can be ornery, but I do enjoy them. I'm so excited for you to be able to make quilts for the great grands! It will definitely be a fabulous winter project for you. How fun!!! I have a selfie stick that I bought WAY back in the day. The phone I had at the time didn't fit in the thing and I never did know how to use it. It just seemed like something I should have. I may see if I can find directions online about how to use this particular brand. It would make getting more pictures of DH and me easier. Thanks for the idea! Tasty, it is ambitious of you to plan to walk home from the curling club. That is one sure way to get in your walk for the day. I hope it was a lovely walk. I'm happy to hear, Sandy, that your family time went well. I will be working on getting the Christmas stuff down this week also. DH wanted to leave it up until after his brother came so they'd see the tree. Since they were here yesterday, it can all get stored away for the year. Good idea to have the kids help with un-decorating, Melissa. Your tree is really big so their help should make it all go faster. Hope your trip to town is fruitful! God love ya, Dave, for that spring arrival count. Eleven weeks doesn't sound so bad. Marlene, I'm sorry you are still having issues after your fall. I hope the chiropractor can get you back in shape. Sounds like you have a good attitude. Starting with being thankful always helps. Well, I need to have some breakfast and decide where I will start with my day. Wishing everyone a marvelous Monday. Mary, I don't know if you've tried this or not, but the mother of a friend of mine in high school told me that washing your hands with table salt will help take away the onion smell from your hands after peeling and cutting them. It does work.

Good morning, what's left of it here. I'm about to eat a bowl of soup and then head outside for a while. I've finished baking the cookies. Bet, they are the oatmeal raisin cinnamon chip that everyone here likes. I put nuts in these since they are for here. Last week the ones I took for Christmas were without nuts because the youngest of the twins has a peanut allergy and since most processed nuts from the store come from a facility that processes peanuts I don't want to take that chance with DGS. He always asks if things are "safe" before he will eat anything others bring.
Marlene, I'm sorry you hurt your back and do hope it's not more serious than you think. As one with constant sciatica I know how simple chores like sweeping, vacuuming, or raking can irritate a back problem and cause pain for days. I hope you get some real relief soon.
Mary, I haven't tried the salt on oniony hands, but I know rubbing your hands on metal, like the faucet or sink while washing seems to work for me. Sounds weird but I've known of it to work for many people.
Charlene, you sure were productive yesterday. My mom started making quilts for her grandchildren many years ago but never got past the first one. Then my sister in law washed it in the washing machine and threw it in the dryer and it messed it up. I'm sure my mom thought she had wasted her time. But a few years later she had a stroke and wouldn't have been able to do any more after that since she lost the use of her left side.
Sandy, enjoy your day off. I will. Just being able to relax in the morning was nice. Our next holiday is MLK day. I never had that at my last employer but do enjoy it now.
Have a great day.

Good afternoon,
It is 54Ā° and cloudy with rain showers at times. All my Christmas stuff is put away for another year. I did consolidate some things and am getting rid of a few things. I had some palm trees that were doing really well but are now dying so I guess I will deal with them today. Have a good day

Marlene. I hope you managed to get in to see the chiropractor today. No vacuuming this time until you are healed! Quilts for the GGs should keep you busy for a while Charlene. And a good project to use up the material. Happy sewing. Nice selfie of you and hubby, Karen. Still haven`t seen the sun today and it is now getting dark but it wasn`t too bad when I was out walking this morning. Hubby and I just came back in from another trip to Main St - sure got my walking in today.
I sliced the l/o beef this morning and made a pot of soup with the last piece that was too thin too run thru the slicer - not sure where the guard for it is so wanted to protect my fingers. A pot of veggie beef soup is brewing in the crockpot - we`ll have that tomorrow before hubby goes curling. We have some leftover chicken that hubby would like to use tonight - not sure what we`ll have with it but it will get rid of a few containers from the fridge I`m sure. Suits my plan of using what we have rather than buying more from the grocery store this month.
Chat tomorrow!
