Good morning friends.
(((Doris & Sara))) My deepest sympathies for your loss.
Janet, Feel free to share your day with us. It doesn't matter if you don't cook much. We love to see you.
Ann & Chris, I haven't heard either of you mention your neighbors so do I dare ask if it's been quiet? O_o
I'm going to grill a marinated pork tenderloin tonight and some marinated cucumbers. Not certain what other side dish we'll have yet. Hot again so we're not overly hungry.
So many joining in and it's nice to see so waving to all.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

On the days I work I never know what I might eat until I get home. I made up so many meals and froze them back in May before I started work that I have a lot to choose from. Also I have a lot leftover from last nights dinner so will be eating that a couple of times this week.
Dinner was great last night as well as the conversation. Menu did change a little bit. Didn't make the coleslaw it would have been way too much food. The broccoli in cheese sauce was changed to broccoli with lemon butter and the strawberry short cake ended up strawberries and cream over a chocolate bundt cake. In other words I got tired and took a couple of short cuts.

The ham I cooked last night was disappointing. Tender enough but it was a seasoned ham and neither of us was overly happy with it so instead of eating it all week, I think it will get chopped up and into the freezer ready to male soup when the chilly weather arrives.
It does mean coming up with something different for tonight - maybe burgers if more of the big tomatoes are ready.
But they're not. When I was shopping one of the stores had a good deal on mushrooms - 1 1/2 lbs for less the $4so we'll have mushroom omelets and a few fries. Quick and easy!

Doris and Sara, I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences.
Janet, it makes no difference if you are a full time chef or a cook if only if I have to person--all are welcome here. Variety makes the world go round! It really is so nice to see so many new friends stopping in daily to join us regulars. There's always a seat available at the table--just pull up a chair and join in!
Bet, your dinner from yesterday sounds delicious. Leftovers are always so nice after a get together to enjoy a 2nd time around.
Tasty, yes weather does play a role in what we feel like eating. Since I live in Florida and it is summer basically here 12 months a year, I don't let the weather rule my meals too much (exception has been turning on the oven on those days we are pushing mid-90's to 100). Thank goodness for A/C and overhead fans! Forecasters say we'll see 93* today and our feel like will be over 100*.
Dinner today will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and a fresh veggie to be decided later.
Waving to all and wishing you a say filled with sunshine! Lori

Humidity on the rise here again after a couple of days of it being lower. However we'll have a cloud cover today which will help. Rain is in the forecast for a few days this week, hopefully it will happen and this dry spell will be broken. Last Friday's rain sure made a difference but we need more.
Pulled Pork, corn and fresh peaches for dinner tonight. Meat is coming straight from the freezer, love it when that can happen.
Hi to everyone here and those yet to come. Hope you have a great day!

Happy Monday! I posted very late yesterday, but it was to welcome everyone, express sympathy and a special howdy to socalscottishgal ! It has been awhile since we heard from you. I hope you will be bale to continue to post without any issues here.
DH took the truck in and I slept late (as usual), then watched a movie, he brought burgers home for lunch. I got our "steak and potato " dinner in the crock pot. It's another foodguy recipe and I think it will turn out like Swiss steak.
It is another gray and dreary day and I don't think we are going anywhere. We will pick some place to visit tomorrow since it is supposed to be a nice day.
DH tried to get ferry reservation to take us to P.E. I. but the girl said they don't accept reservations unless you purchase and round trip ticket. Otherwise, show up at 6 am. That would mean getting up at 4 for us, so DH said why don't we just drive it. Sounds good to me. I am NOT a morning person, obviously. In fact last night I went to bed at one but wasn't really sleepy so got back up and played on the computer for about an hour.
Hope it's a nice day for everyone! Tammy

I did get started to cleaning but will have to quit as it will be time to set table and get dinner over then doctors appt. So hope I have energy when I came home from town. Doing my spare bedroom first. Need to accomplish one room a day this week. My youngest DD and family will be coming home as that is the plans now and maybe my DS. So will see who shows up. I have large container of BBQ pork, and some ham balls made in the freezer. Will do a pan of hash brown casserole for freezer too. I liked to be prepared !

I don't cook much nowadays. DH cooks sometimes. It's usually catch as catch can (leftovers). LOL! Tonight DH will fry some crappie. I will make the sides - probably some fresh green beans and some zucchini. I don't usually post, I am mostly a lurker and I love to collect recipes. So hope to obtain some new ones from this site.

Good Monday afternoon to everyone. It is so good to read the posts from everyone and know there is a place to visit. It just makes my day complete when I can talk to you folks. It sounds like you all have nice meals planned for tonight, me not so much. I might go to Marlene's and eat a stuffed pepper-- yum. Save me a piece of pie ---- lol. I really don't live that close to her just like to tease her because she cooks such amazing meals. I hope everyone will have a good day and nice evening.

Been to podiatrist and I am in a boot now for 1-2 months. Does not sound fun to me. I have a stress break that is why it was hurting all the time. Go back in 2 weeks to see her again and more exrays. So will go out and mow and hope I can do that successfully too.
The stuffed green peppers made a hit. Have some leftover so called Terry as he cleaned up my lawn mower yesterday so have supper fixed for him too.
Hope you all have a good night. Marlene

(((Marlene))) Do you know how this happened? A boot does nor sound comfortable at all, especially at this time of year with the heat.

Good Afternoon to everyone, Thank you all for the condolences, they are so appreciated. We may be spread very far apart but everyone is so caring and thoughtful of each other. I am very pleased to be a part of this group and see most everyone coming to this site and helping to keep us connected.
My day started with a knock on my door and DGS telling me he had an emergency appt with dentist to get a wisdom tooth extracted and could I please drive him to appt. After the appt. we went to Walmart for meds and some food that he could eat and finally home at 1:30. I made him some Jello and puddding than an ice pack. I have had to coach him to use the ice pack so he doesn't end up looking like a bull dog.
I have no clue at the moment what is for dinner........maybe a taco salad or a sandwich.
Stay safe and stay cool.....do we have anyone who might be affected by the horrible flooding on the south central La. coast?????

We had meatloaf, French fries, both with gravy, (oh yes we did!) and peas for supper. One of my favorite ice cream flavors is black cherry but I've only ever seen it made by Turkey Hill when we lived in NJ. Well, I was meandering through Winn Dixie today and spotted black cherry in their brand. Turkey Hill is awesome. Hoping this one is good, too. I'll certainly be finding out in a little while after I recover from the gravy gluttony. :o
Marlene, I love stuffed peppers but have relied on Chef Stouffer because they're so much trouble to make. Would you share your recipe? I bet they're wonderful. And, oh, strawberry/rhubarb pie -- an embarrassment of riches! Hope you can still get around without that boot slowing you down.
Had to give up on my latest book. Took them back to the library and reserved a few more for tomorrow. I'm bookless. Yikes. I'll play a little solitaire and sample that ice cream before I put my head down. Sweet dreams.

Good evening. Dinner is simple tonight. Have fresh tomatoes from the garden so will make open face cheese, fresh tomato, onion and bacon sandwich. They are so simple just pop them in the oven and they are so good. Also have chocolate bundt cake with strawberries and cream for a snack before I go to bed. I need to make stuffed peppers when my peppers are ready. Love the things and haven't done any in a while.
