The broccoli in cheese sauce was changed to broccoli with lemon butter and the strawberry short cake ended up strawberries and cream over a chocolate bundt cake. In other words I got tired and took a couple of short cuts. Bet Your shortcuts sound pretty darn good to me! No cooking here tonight. I had a meeting after work so dinner was a leftover burger (for me) and hot dogs (for DH). May have to actually cook something tomorrow! LOL Actually, I have chicken breasts in the freezer and I was thinking about a recipe my DBIL used to make where he coated chicken breasts with crushed potato chips, drizzled them with melted butter and baked them. I bet the rest of those smoked gouda chips would make a really good coating for that. Hmmm.... wheels are turning... Jan, what a happy surprise to see your screen name come up! It's been a long time, my friend, and I am tickled to see you again. Chris, very glad to see you too! Is that your "before HC" or "after HC" face in your avatar? ;) Tammy, can't wait to hear about your adventures on Prince Edward Island. I grew up reading Anne of Green Gables and so that what PEI is all about in my mind! My parents visited there years ago and loved it.

Been to podiatrist and I am in a boot now for 1-2 months. Does not sound fun to me. I have a stress break that is why it was hurting all the time. Go back in 2 weeks to see her again and more exrays. So will go out and mow and hope I can do that successfully too.
The stuffed green peppers made a hit. Have some leftover so called Terry as he cleaned up my lawn mower yesterday so have supper fixed for him too.
Hope you all have a good night. Marlene

Happy Monday ladies. Been gone all day so just now getting ready to heat up yesterdays leftovers in the microwave. Too hot for oven cooking.
Thank you for the sweet welcome back wishes from my long time Whats Cooking family! Good to see lots of new names here as well, love it! The more the merrier I always say.
You are all likely off to beddy bye by now or settled in for a night of TV watching, but I decided better late than never as the saying goes. 😄 ~Jan~

Helen and Bet It has been forever since I made stuffed peppers. I went to TOH and got 2 recipes off there. The one I used had rice which I made it first as I have a rice cooker. It was from Marlene Karnemaat, Fremont, Michigan. I did not put all the rice in and thought it was a little dry. The guys thought they were great. They were called Hearty Stuffed Green Peppers. Next time I will try one by Helen Englehart, Maplewood Minnesota.
Doris I am so sorry you lost your sister. I lost mine 2 years ago from surgery she had done. I am sure your sister will be missed. I miss mine also. I had 5 brothers and only 2 left now, the oldest has cancer he has been fighting. So the families shrink, I was the baby.
The boot made my foot feel better but can't say I like it in this weather. Winter would be bad also. So guess it is never a good time. They call it Stress Break and how I done it who knows but have been hobbling along over 3 weeks with it. Did not hit it or drop anything on it. She took 3 exray's.

Wishing everyone a lovely evening. I did not get a chance to post during this hectic Monday. DD is learning to cook so she made tacos, rice and beans for dinner. She is almost 12 and did a great job.
Sweet dreams to all.

Morning! Didn't get onto the computer last evening. Weather wise the day was tolerable. Today will be HHH with a threat of severe weather this afternoon. Last night I made a taco salad. I used a TOH recipe for " Crowd-Pleasing Taco Salad", but I added more salad ingredients (cucumber, onion, and red bell pepper) and used some of my roasted veggie sauce instead of ketchup. It was superior. We cleaned our plates! Bet - I like your shortcuts!!! I made a trifle using leftover slow cooker lava cake (TOH), strawberries, and whipped cream. As you know, I don't bake very much because we don't eat a lot of desserts, but that lava cake was so good. It was actually more like a pudding cake, I guess. Jan - Good to see you! Nancy - The noise problem isn't as bad lately; maybe calling the police "enlightened" some folks!!! There is one family across the street and down a couple of houses who stay up until the wee hours, and I hear their music and loud talking when I get up, but it doesn't keep me awake. Marlene - Oh, my goodness! A stress fracture...are you pain free with the boot? Don't do too much...ya, right!!!!LOL Love stuffed peppers! Recently, I made a deconstructed one using those little tri-colored peppers that my mom gave me. Came out good! Elza - You hooked me on the crushed gouda chips....lips smacking. What holds the chips on...? I'll try to get back on today's thread; have to get a move on to get ready to go to the senior center...three mile Pilates walk today!
