Banana Cake-wilderness Heat oven to 350° 1/2 C Butter Softened or part Crisco 1 1/2 C sugar 2 eggs well beaten 2 C flour 1 tsp. Baking Soda 1/2 C Sour Milk 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp vanilla 3 Ripe Bananas mashed This recipe makes 1 9X13 pan, 1/2 recipe for 8x8 pan or 4 4" round pans 1. Cream butter and sugar together 2. Add eggs one at a time and beat until light and fluffy 3. Mix baking soda with sour milk until dissolved 4. Mix salt with flour and add flour and milk alternately just until blended 5. Mix in vanilla and bananas Grease baking pans. Bake 20-25 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean. I baked the 4" round pans 18 minutes. (each pan gets about 1/2 C of batter) This recipe was in my mom's handwriting with just ingredients and oven temperature. I like this frosted with a boiled chocolate fudge frosting. This is the boiled chocolate frosting that I make for one 4" round cake so there is enough to frost the sides. Double it for an 8" square pan for just the top of the cake.
