Good morning, everyone. It looks like another cold and showery day for us. Its 42° now headed to highs in the mid-50s that’s about 10 degrees below average.
Yesterday I went to Fred Meyer and Lowe’s Garden centers. I bought some potting soil at both places, and some plants. I came home with a violet-blue salvia both places still didn’t have any red salvia plants. A lavender Phlox, a Dahlia with yellow flowers, pink Verbena and a small Viola hanging basket.
Shar had an appt. for lab work and after that we went to Bob’s Red Mill restaurant for lunch.
I paid some bills; my homeowner’s insurance is 20% higher this year. Even with paying early and having over $400. In various credits it’s still over a thousand dollars.
Today I have an appointment to get my hair cut.
Tasty have a great day canning.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone. It is 41º and going to upper 60s later. This morning is supposed to be sunny, but clouds and rain are to move in later this afternoon. We can still use rain even though we got 1" over the weekend.
Yesterday was the busiest Monday they've ever had at work and my knees can attest to that. Lunch hour went from 11-2 without a break. We ran out of glasses and silverware, so one of the gals from the office helped catch up with dishes. I didn't get home until 3:30 and then went to Phyllis for an hour. Her friend is leaving for home today, so I will have more responsibility with her again. The break was nice.
Tasty....Happy canning and thanks for opening. I could have sworn I posted yesterday morning, but obviously I didn't.
Mary...I have not been to any greenhouses or nurseries yet this year, but I will be going soon. I'm looking forward to seeing the plants you bought yesterday.
Happy Tuesday to all. Charlene

Good morning! 70° and sun is up. I went to finish a leaf project this morning and got all the piles from yesterday picked up. The village provides these large tubs to fill up and then they haul them away.
Tasty, have a good day canning. Marnee, Florida has had a Home owner's property insurance crisis for a couple years now. It's priced so high that many can't afford it. Charlene, I can imagine how you must've felt after your day.
It will be a quiet afternoon for me. At least as of now. Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning all, Tasty, have a good day canning. Marnee, my homeowner's insurance also took a jump which I was expecting. Two years ago a storm went through my area and there wasn't a site within 20 miles that did not have some kind of damage. Chalene, I thought you gave up your job at the restaurant. Marlene

Good morning. 40 and grey but maybe we will see some peaks of sun later. Depends on what forecast you look at. High of 55. More rain expected later this evening/overnight. It rained most of yesterday but was light and misty most of the time.
I got laundry going and then went shopping. By the time I was home it was 11 so got stuff put away and swapped laundry before having lunch. After lunch I finally got the last coat of paint on the big stair wall. I fiddled with plants and did a few other things before making dinner. After dinner dh helped me get the stuff back on the wall and hauled out the ladder and stair leveler. I still have the entryway bench to do but thats a someday project. For now I just need a break from painting.
I think I will do some cleaning downstairs today and at some point I need to go to the dmv and have some stuff to run up to concessions. I want to go to the library and they don’t open until 10. Maybe I will see if dh wants to walk at lunch. Dd has a game at the town 5 miles over so that will take up my late afternoon.
Tasty-Happy canning.
Charlene-Sounds like a tough day on the knees for sure.
Mary-No greenhouses for me yet tho some are open and the big box stores have some plants. Its still early here tho. I’ve been trying to haul things in and out but its a pain and some days just too cold (like yesterday when it was 39 almost all day).
Leslie-Well now we are all intrigued by the name. Lol
Karen-Nice to have the plants outside. My goal is by mothers day weekend to get most of them out. Meanwhile I am running a fan every day on them.
Wendy-Enjoy the nice weather. Did you stay awake for stitching?
Marlene-Our grass is just starting to green up. I have many dead spots I will fix this year now that we don’t have a dog.
Mary in KY-Nice weather for you too. Enjoy!
Gayle-How is the hearing? Is the ear healed?
I suppose I should finish coffee and water seedlings and plants. Dh and I are heading out Th for a get away and will come home Tuesday. Dd1 is going to water and deal with plants so I will give her a tutorial later. Have a great day.

Chalene, I thought you gave up your job at the restaurant. Marlene....I gave my notice to quit, but said I'd work until she found someone to replace me. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. Charlene

Today looks to be a really lovely day weather-wise. Our high ought to be in the low 70s. I love days like that. My phone app suggested that we'd be mostly cloudy today, but it seems pretty sunny to me right now. A peek at the 10-day forecast on my favorite weather guy's FB page indicates that today will be the "coldest" day of the forecast. We'll be about half in the low 80s and half in the mid to upper 70s from here on out. It looks like I will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy getting my hands dirty. I guess I have found my motivation to get up in the morning ... getting my plant babies outside. I really wanted to sleep later today but decided it was more important for the plants to get outside. They all look fine and seem to have tolerated the breezy conditions we had yesterday well. While it seems considerably calmer today, the wind spinner is going round and round. DDIL's DM asked me yesterday to explain to our private gardening FB group what hardening off means. I'm guessing I may be the only seed starter in the bunch, but it wouldn't make me mad to have put a spark of interest in others to give seed starting a try. As I was hauling the flats out this morning, I was thinking about all the things I started that I can't just walk into a garden center and find. Other than seed starting getting me through blah winters, I do appreciate the variety of things I have that only comes from growing myself. I got a phone call last night around suppertime from DSisL#2 letting me know she had to call the squad for DH's brother - the one who just had surgery to remove cancer from his abdomen. He was not doing well most of the day but they didn't know why. It was discovered that he was running a low-grade fever. When he got up to go to the bathroom, he fell to his knees. When she couldn't get him up, she had to call for help. He's bigger than DH so I understand her dilemma. Everyone was very worried, but he called later in the evening to say they thought he had a UTI. After receiving an antibiotic and fluids, he was sent home with a prescription to deal with the infection at home. Hearing his voice was a relief! He sounded much better than DSisIL was describing. DH has PT later this afternoon, so I was thrilled when he got in the shower early this morning. I held him off until I got in from taking the plants outside. He was uncharacteristically anxious to get showered very early. Usually, I am fighting him to get cleaned up early so we aren't late for therapy - but often are. Now, though, he is supervising my time for the day. He has all kinds of ideas of what I should be doing and when. I have bills I want to pay and checks to write out so I can take them with us to the post office when we leave. Maybe the notion of me renewing his TV Guide will buy me some time with him. It may be a fun day today. LOL! Oh, and I forgot about setting up a time with the car dealership about doing the extended warranty after PT. Yippee! Needless to say, I fully expect to be doing Bible Study online tonight. Tasty, I love that whale emoji. Enjoy canning today. Nice, Mary M., that you and Shar were able to enjoy lunch out together. I hope her labs come back good. I was wondering about you being MIA yesterday, Charlene. I'm happy to hear it was just a busy day that kept you away. It was good that you had this little break from Phyllis. Wendy, I'm impressed that the village provides you with tubs for yard waste. We have to buy bags to fill so the city will have them taken away. The bags are almost as tall as I am at this point. LOL! Hi Marlene! Yay, Melissa, on being done with the painting for now! We smashed the old record for rainiest April by early evening last night. It has been crazy wet around here. I thought of you and the work you do at the concessions when we talked with the kids on Sunday. Mac's favorite part of T-ball, he says, is the treats. Red sour patch kids to be exact. Because DDIL is due in June, they opted to pay a fee rather than help with concessions this season. It would be too crazy to think they could deal with that, Mac, and a newborn. I know they appreciate the people who can step in and help the way they can't right now. Well, I need to deal with the bills and get in the shower. Dishes, laundry, and the kitchen await my attention also. No rest for the wicked. Isn't that the saying? Have a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning, what's left of it. Nothing much planned for today. It will be in the upper 80s so I need to get out soon and cultivate the bed in front of the porch that I didn't do. There is plenty to do inside as well since I didn't do much yesterday after aggravating my back with the bag of garden soil I picked up at Lowe's. I need to give the cat cage a thorough cleaning now that there are no kittens in it. I may need it to keep Oreo away from the others soon so she won't get pregnant before I take her in June.
Melissa, since you are curious, her name will be Evonii. I've listened to 2 different pronunciations online and I think most only have one "i". I guess I'll find out her middle names soon enough.
Charlene, I hope your knees improve today.
Both of my sons insurance went up for this year and I imagine it will go up more after all the hail and wind damage in their area recently. Son #2's insurance company will meet with the roofer next week look at his roof to see if they will approve a new one. I don't know if I mentioned that in looking at his car I was surprised none of the windows were broken, although the weather stripping on at least 2 had some damage. Before the storm he thought about dropping full coverage and just keeping liability but now he's glad he didn't and just hoping he will get enough to help fix his ac in the car so he won't be driving DGD to therapy in the heat this summer. I'm sure if his car insurance goes up he will just go with liability.
Need to finish lunch and get outside.

Hello all, have not done too much but sit on the balcony and read. It is 91° on the balcony but there is a slight breeze going that makes it bearable. We are supposed to have T-storms this evening.
I did repot the one plant I bought, we will see how it goes. They seemed to be wilting in the pot they were in.
I see they are bringing all the stuff out of storage for the township pool. They store the stuff in the shower/bathrooms I guess.
Have a good day.

When we were chatting to some folks in S Carolina last month, everyone's home insurance has gone up hugely, because of all the storms the last couple of years. The Low Country was badly hit and this is why lots of the rental costs have doubled for the snowbirds.

Another good canning day under our belts. A mix of jams, some lime curd and a batch of chutney, just less than 100 jars again this week.

Everyone talking about their homeowners insurance going up. The major reason for the increase is homeowners insurance is usually written on replacement cost of the building and on replacement cost of furnishing. The terrible increase in building supplies it the major reason for the costs. Obviously the companies loss record does play a part also.
Leslie, you mentioned your son's car insurance going up due to the hail damage. Unless SC is different from most states hail damage is considered a comprehensive loss which does not increase your insurance. Comprehensive also also covers things like window breakage like a stone hitting the windshield and also damage caused by hitting an animal.

Bet, his car insurance isn't likely to increase soon but I remember years ago after I hit a deer the next time it came up for renewal (every 6 months) it increased. Made me think it was a way to recoup their loss. During the pandemic they were nice enough to give us a break and decrease our premiums for a while. But as soon as things were getting better it went up above what it was before. I know material costs and lead times were a problem during the pandemic. I put in requisitions for parts for the company and saw first hand how bad it was. I know things will probably never be back like pre-pandemic days but hopefully it will improve more than it has.
