A little history on how this forum came about

Most of the original folks who came from The Gardener's Shed originally started out on Birds and Blooms. I joined a board called Advice by the Yard in 2003. At that time there were also a gardening board and a vegetable gardening board. This is the 5 time that the longest members of the Gardener's Shed have be uprooted from there home.

When TOH decided to close their community forums we decided to find an avenue to have our own forum. It was also decided by this small group that we were open to any group or individual that wanted to join us from the other TOH boards. I am hoping that none of use will have to be homeless again. We well come all to come chat with us. As we grow we will be making some changes to the forum to make navigation a little smoother for different interest groups. This is a democratic society here and it will be the consensus of the group when a change is made.

My private messages are open to all who which to add a suggestion to make this board better. However, until we really get our feet wet on this new board there will be changes made. We will just continue to welcome me members.

I think this new site is amazing. It's fresh and fast moving and interesting. Your idea of letting the group voice their opinions about possible changes is what will keep this site lively. There will probably be more suggestions than can possibly be accommodated but from what I've seen so far, every effort will be made to bring everyone's thoughts and ideas together. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.

I think everyone is very grateful you for the setting up of this site and for all the help you and Charlene have given to everyone.

I was slowly losing interest in the TOH site because it was so slow all the time and I had no patience for it.

Thanks for telling us how this site came about beyond ToH closing the doors. I like that this is a public forum, the administration is open to suggestions & with consensus things came be changed. Makes everyone feel like they are involved & enabling this site to grow and stay interesting.

Thanks to all those who worked long hours setting this up now and ongoing. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Bette you've done a great job here and things are running much smoother than what we have been used to for the last few years. As good as this board runs makes me wonder what was so hard that Birds and Blooms and TOH couldn't have boards that they could keep running. My first guess would be they were too busy trying to stick in all kinds of commercials that it really messed up those boards. But anyway I'm so glad we have this board now.

Steve, in regards to ToH, I suspect part of the problem there was the need for new upto date software/platform. With the advent of all sorts of new tech devices like tablets, etc the old software no longer could function properly.  I imagine that likely would have been a costly endeavour. My opinion only, of course.

Thanks Bette for all the work you did to get this established and up and running. Many choices for posts to choose to be a part of and it works smoothly. We all are most grateful for this board and being able to navigate to the post of our choice or to just browse and read. We are here to stay, I hope!

Hope you are cooler in the mountains than we are in western NYS where it is muggy, sunny, very little breeze and a threat of rain or storms....hoping so as we need it bad.
