Good Morning Snow and All to follow: Snow, I think both was funny but I have a weird sense of humor anyway!!!! Just got up can't believe I slept way over an hour more than usual. Guess I needed it. Got the temps: 19°, 26° and 32°. My thingy says 19.9° at 7:46 am EST. I haven't been up long as I slept in (for me). Must have needed it!! The sun out just not in my yard yet (isn't high enough in the sky so the houses are still blocking it but it is shining on the house behind me. I live in a subdivision with postage stamps yards!! House is empty behind me (a rental). But Devin said she thinks that they are going to put it on the market (her Sister-in-law works for the rental agency who leases it out). But I guess it was when I had my shoulder surgery and don't remember the first days home - the new renters trashed the house and moved out (probably got kick out). Don't know why. The people before them stayed until their Senior son graduated (which was the first part of June) and the "trasher" ones moved in. My surgery was June 5th and I remember next to nothing the first few weeks after surgery (Devin said it was the pain killers I was taking at first). Anyway I am glad I had the surgery and can normally use that arm (still a bit tender). More than you wanted to know I am sure!! I am afraid when Mr. Winter hits we will get dumped on OR we will just have a milder winter just the cold temps. I guess I will give the washer a workout after bit. Don't need to make a loaf of bread for a few days so I don't know what else I will tackle. Hope All has a good day!! CUL

Good Morning, Snow and Alice, Its still snowing and blowing here, but not as hard as yesterday. Its 12* and going to a high of 16* and windy. Looks like another day to stay in, I really want to get out and do some walking. I will get out and shovel but that's not walking. I also need to feed the birds. Yesterday was a do nothing day, I think I took 2 naps, one was while watching TV, wasn't interesting, the first nap wasn't very long (15 Minutes) couldn't get the sound of the wind out of my mind. Our power never flickered. Lucky us. Today I need to get busy and do something, I have a few calls to make so that will be first. Got some booth work to do, and who know what else I will get into. Snow, I have seen those pictures on FB, and I laughed again. When its so cold the chickens don't lay real good, am I right? Apple pie sounds wonderful. Will past on the liver. Alice, I sure don't understand people. If you rent a house, don't trash it, respect it. We had renters 30 years ago and yes the house got trashed. Lair, Neat pictures, better to look out then look in. Keep those doors shut when its so windy. Kay, Yes I know about the price of those standby generators. Who knows if we will get one, Ray does a lot of talking. But just maybe I will order one, but want to wait until Spring to have it installed. Also need to think where would we put it. Glad your neighbor got to stay warm. I eat radishes but not in a sandwich. Alma, Agree some people like my DD, never got the chance to get old. MaryMI, Great memories that goes along with Dr. Zhivego. I didn't know that about the shot. I haven't had one, and I don't get the flu shot. Nice looking mushrooms, what do you stuffed them with other then cheese? Ray said wow do they look good. Beautiful flowers. Yes we got the snow and wind. Mary, A lot of small business (like Sandy) are hurting here also. Who shops for crafts or ? when you need food to get you thru the storm. Good way to spend the day, with a hook and some yarn. Connie, I would think it would be hard to say how much snow we get when its so windy, but I guess those guessers know that answer. We have 2 roads that are always so bad, with pileups due to the white out conditions, I don't drive those roads if I don't have to, and don't go out when the weather is so nasty. Well time for me to start my day, first some coffee. Have a great safe day.

Good Morning,
Sun is out so it could be worse.I see all of the icicles on the neighbors shed have a definite lean to the North.
Snow, You can't blame the chickens for going on strike! Apple pie sounds yummy.
Carol, You bet my neighbor stayed warm, she is still here. Furnace guy will be here today. I did send the lawn guy over with some space heaters to keep her stuff from freezing.I just don't get how you can have nothing at all to get you through a power outage in this part of the state. My furnace guys would have shown up no matter how late it got, but I don't know who she called.
MaryMi, if I only lived closer I would come over and sneak a mushroom for breakfast.

Good Morning everyone, It is overcast and -6º but thankfully there is little wind so the feels like is -28º. That wind yesterday was amazing. I watched the guy next door blow out his drive (which is most of his front yard). The blower would blow the snow up and the wind blew it around between our houses and into his back yard. In the hour he worked the drift in his yard grew by about 4 feet. It looks like a small mountain complete with snow blowing across the peaks. I don't think much will happen today because all businesses are closed and the roads are impassable or closed. Not sure what the difference is but I'm not going to find out. On the news they talked about a drift across the main highway being 40' high. They don't think they can get that road open till Wed. or Thursday because snow coming in on Tuesday. I am at a catch 22 myself. I have no cash to pay the plowman and can't get to the bank until he cleans the doors and driveway. I will just have to do little things around the house. I have to figure out how I can get some seeds out for the birds. They are looking real hungry today. Anyway, I need more coffee. You all have a good day. I'll check back later.

Good Morning, I'm up but that's the extent of it. I've had my oatmeal and now sitting here with my coffee. Jerry was out trying to shovel some of the snow. He came in to go to the bathroom and I can tell he's in a mood. I heard him say yesterday that he should have shoveled the snow before church (or instead of going to church). Hey, he could have shoveled when we got home but he didn't; not my fault. He's got the snow blower going now so I don't know if he just loosened up the icy snow or what. Didn't do any crocheting yesterday. I just watched a variety of videos on my computer and later some TV movies. Our basketball girls are supposed to be in Des Moines for a 6:45? elimination game. I have no clue how they are going to get them there or all the family and fans with all the main roads to get there being closed down due to snow blockages. UPDATE: Girls were being driven down to Independence and then went on to Cedar Rapids, on to Iowa City then taking 80 West to Des Moines. Valerie said she thought they were already in Des Moines. There is a watch party being held at the high school cafeteria since there were no activity buses being taken down to this game. DD gave me a link to a youtube channel that I can hopefully watch here on my computer. My son, Bryan, is a Security Supervisor and told me he is also working at this game. I doubt I'll see him. The girl's game is delayed because the first two games that were played each went into 1 overtime and one game had 3 overtimes so now they are running late. The game before them just ended and they'll now be 45 min late. Ironically, the coach of the team that just lost was on our boy's basketball team back in 1973. WOO HOO! Girls won 48-37 Update #2: I did start a small version of the bootie slipper and it is way too small so I ripped it all out and will start again. This poor yarn will be worn out before I even get the slippers made. 7:00 One bootie slipper done. Well, I almost lost my post so I'll come back later. Loved the pictures.

Good morning friends. Well I wrote two posts, two posts disappeared so since I know that happens a lot on my tablet I don't know why I don't just come in here and use my computer in the first place. It would save a lot of aggravation and time. Lair your weather must have been much worse than ours yesterday and ours was horrible!
Carol, I stuffed the mushrooms with sausage that I had already cooked, one block of cream cheese, garlic and the chopped up stems of the mushrooms sauteed in butter, then I dipped the tops into grated cheese. I always use whatever cheese I have already had open so this time it was swiss cheese. Kay could have saved a couple for you! They are all gone now but that recipe makes way too much for two boxes of mushrooms so I am using up the remainder on crackers and will try some on a baked potato.
Snow, those are so funny! Here comes the wife with a tea kettle of boiling water. lol. Yikes!
Hi to Mary, charlene and Alice and those of you that will be along a bit later.

Good afternoon. Cold here this morning-below zero-but was up to almost 13 when I came in here. I did not feel very well this morning when I got up but had a chair nap later and did feel better by about 11. The sun is out very bright right now. No School today.
I just noticed that DS's dog really make claw marks in our wood floor by the entry yesterday. She was barking at all kinds of strange things like DD & her hubby, the tassel that hangs on the pull chain of the ceiling fan...crazy dog! DH said his snow blower was not working right yesterday. It spins around until you get it in the snow, then only half of it turns. DS is supposed to be coming after work today to fix it.
Snow, the pics were both cute but the best part was momma on the way out with the teakettle...ouch!
Sounds like we are all pretty much in the same boat.
Mary your silhouette picture out the window is nice.
I learned today that a dear old friend passed away Saturday. She turned 97 in January. She was our neighbor for many years when I was still at my parents home. He oldest son and I are the same age. Very dear sweet person!
Hope you all stay warm and enjoy your day!

Has anyone seen a robin? They usually come to this area around the 22-23. Last time we had a snow storm like this they were already here. They ate all the dried plums off the trees across the street.
Someone said they liked raisins so I would throw out a handful on my sidewalk each AM and evening and they would all disappear and finally I was down to 6 on the porch ledge daily and had a robin tame enough to eat out of hand.
some of you may remember some of the stories about Charlie, Then Charlene and latter 3 little ones. Two Charlie Jr's and a little Charlene.
So if you see robins looking for something to eat, They do like raisins.
On weather we only had six inches, but it was sleety/snow and it did blow. Roads are closed and no school today.
We are up to 11.
DD told me last night they had 11" of rain I n 10 days, n o flooding, but the water table so high in Huntsville AL that water is seeping up in basement and they are using sump pump. Sister it Tucson sent video of the snow outside her window. Not blowing like ours was. That is it from the Midwest. Oh, the funny video on FB was 15 guys in a Canadian Race. 2' snow and each had a snow blower and having a race to finish line. They were enjoying the snow!
I need to go but not in the snow!! Alma
