I cannot think of a tip this morning. I am heading out to shovel and maybe one will pop in my mind while doing that. Please share your tip for today. Charlene

Gayle said last night that she had a tip, but she must still be snoozing as her birds are flying elsewhere for food. ;)

I posted this recipe the other day in either the chitchat or the VSR, but thought I would share it here because I know there are others who check out this thread.
I made stabilized whipped cream frosting. For 2 pints of whipping cream add 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and 1/4 cup of instant pudding. Beat until stiff. It held its shape in the refrigerator for several days as we used it up. I made vanilla but you could use any flavor pudding that you like. I I used it to sandwich between two cookies but it would be great on cupcakes. I made a half a batch and it was enough to sandwich between two dozen cookies making a dozen sandwich cookies. The nice thing is you could cut this recipe down even further for one person.

Here is a tip for those who shovel the snow. Spray your snow shovel with a baking spray and the snow will just slide off.
Also, those who have trouble with your storm doors freezing. Put W-D40 along the frame and it won't freeze shut.

Melissa, I saw that when you posted before. It sounds yummy so I think I will need to remember it for AFTER I lose a few more pounds, as a treat. I gained a few recently and now I need to get back to the fasting to jump start the weight loss again before my next doctor appointment the end of March.

While crushing some crackers for meatloaf tonight, I thought of a tip. Since my right thumb is basically useless, it is difficult for me to use a rolling pin for very long to crush graham or soda crackers......so, I put the crackers in a ziplock bag. I then wrap the bag with a towel and put it on the floor and step on it with my feet. It only take s couple minutes to get them crushed. If they aren't as fine as I want them to be I then just use a couple quick rolls of a wine bottle or large juice can (easier to hang on to than a rolling pin)and they're ready to use. Leslie...yo're picking on Gayle this morning....lol. I can't wait for her response Melissa...I did write that down the other day when you posted it. My favorite Pineapple Sunshine cake has a frosting that is 8 oz cool whip, 1 8oz can crushed pineapple (not drained) and 1 small box vanilla pudding. I like that recipe so well I use it on other cakes. It's not as sweet as frosting and keeps for days in the fridge without getting watery as plain cool whip does. I think people watching their sugar could substitute sugar free cool whip and also sugar free pudding. Trailmom...both great tips that I do use. We learn many tips living in cold climates, don't we?

Charlene, your cake frosting sounds almost like one of my favorite Midwest salads:
Pistachio ...something or other..
1 carton (16 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed. 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant pistachio pudding mix. 6 to 7 drops green food coloring, optional. 3 cups miniature marshmallows. 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained. 1/2 cup chopped pistachios or walnuts.
My TIP FOR THE DAY is........eat it all yourself!! No guilt, No selfish label tags and of course, BOLT the door against the 911 dudes.....just indulge!
Spoons up! Robyn

Robyn...that is the salad that Larry's aunt always brought to every gathering no matter what time of year. His other aunt always brought the lime jello salad that I associated with Christmas in my family. The 2 green salads always added color to the table and sweetness to the pallet. Charlene

Charlene! Between all the similarities between you and I....too numerous to mention! Uncanny actually!! And the similarities between Larry's "middle of the night" up and at 'um, his taste buds and NOW ...his extended family recipes! Oh glory!......I do believe that we are in fact RELATED! Off to Ancestry.com for paper proof! A giggle and a wave, Robyn
PS....I might just write that book and get your noodle into a novel!!! Short stories of course!!

Gayle said last night that she had a tip, but she must still be snoozing as her birds are flying elsewhere for food. I was not!!! (LOL) I was at work. That's why I told Karen she would have to wait. I'm going to go type it up right now.
And I'll have you know, I feed my birds before I leave for work, not make them wait until I get home like some people do. But at this point I don't know why I bother on most days.
(And you know not to take that seriously, right? )

Robyn--that salad showed up here in central NY, too. The name always puzzled me--Watergate Salad. Love it.

Robyn, I make that. My recipe calls it Watergate Salad but I don't know why.
OK, Leslie; here is the tip I promised Karen/
She was organizing kitchen drawers using containers, etc; So I though of my junk drawer. We all have one.
I use an old cutlery tray for tools like screwdrivers, pliers, tape measure & so forth. I have several small plastic baskets stacked in it that hold, odds & ends, bits &pieces of this & that, extra keys. All the little stuff that tends to get tossed in a drawer. Then I have small containers with rubber bands, twist ties, tacks, small nails & screws.
It looks like this:
So there. LMAO
