Good Morning again, OMG do I miss Carol, I hope she gets here soon. This morning I have 68* and the sun is shining. Today shouldn't be too bad but tomorrow and Thursday are going to be like a steam pot. Guess that means the A/C. I just got the bill for last month and it wasn't to bad but I didn't check the cut off date. That will tell me. I have really high electric bills every month. Several years ago they came out and did an energy audit to see why they are so high. The report said that because of the size of the house the amount of the bill was not out of line. I tried to explain the size of the house doesn't matter is there is nobody using it. There is only 2 of us here and I don't have electric heat, I have a steam boiler that uses no electric. At most I do 2 loads of laundry per week and Tim does the same. I got a spot checker which is a thing you plug things into and it reads whatever the usage is for that appliance. My lowest bill evr has been 139 and has been as high as 240. It varies up to 80 dollars from one month to the next. Well, how did I get off on that?
Yesterday I did get a few things done outside but gave up early because there was no breeze and it was really hot in the sun. Felt a lot hotter than the 86* we got up to. I'm going out this morning early and do some weeding and get that out of the way so when I come in and plop down I don't feel so guilty. Guess I will get out there now and check back later. I hope to see more of us posting today. I see Alma posted last night on the old board. Not sure if she forgot we moved or didn't get the message. Have to check that out. You all have a good day. Lair

Hi Lair and All, I've had my bowl of cereal and now drinking my coffee.
I sure hope everyone is okay. Alma is stressed out; her family cleaned her house apparently. I think she's waiting for them to help her sign in. Leroy signed in, but I haven't seen him since. Snow, Jan, Grace, and Angela were all signed in over here; even Janet was here. I can't remember who the others were. MaryinMI? Has she been here? Sandy made it right? Carol was here, but it showed she was a guest, but I thought she became a new member since that. I had to keep signing in until I clicked for Google to remember my password. I hated to do that, but now I get in both boards by just clicking. I like how thebackyardbunch proboard is set up. It's divided into sections and you just check out each section. It's so much easier to find different subjects. I think last night was the first night I slept through the night in a long time. I went to bed at 12:45 and got up because the alarm went off at 8:30. I took 2 Aleve at 7:30 because I was already aching so bad. I edged all along my marigolds and then carried multiple 5 gal. buckets of fertilizer water to cover the marigolds and my bushes on the north side of the house. Everything looked like it could use some food. I noticed that a few plants look like they have heat stress from those high heat and humidity days. I was out working in the yard a lot yesterday. I had at least 5 people stop me to talk about my flowers or the new sheds. I had another lady stop and talk to me that taught school in Postville. I think she started over there after I went up to the high school.
DH has the floor for his shed almost ready to paint. It went in piece by piece, then came out piece by piece to be sanded and the edges painted, and then it went back in piece by numbered piece. He now need to screw it down and paint the whole floor. Then he can start putting up benches and shelving. Hey, I might get MY shed back by early fall; I hope not winter. The guy was here to look at the area that needs to be cemented. They're figuring out how to do it so the water all drains away when it rains. I told him about the flooding of 2013. I stood about 12' from him and said I would have been standing in running water up to my ankles. He couldn't believe that, but at least we didn't have a basement full of water like the people a block down. Well, they actually had a basement full and half the first floor. They were rescued by boat from the upstairs window of the second floor. The house is sitting in the lowest part of a long valley. Any building in that low lying area that drains through town got hit. They just recently finished creating a huge earthen catch basin for runoff water up above this area so hopefully this won't happen again. I think they figure if the farm field water can't drain very fast down towards the storm drains it will give the other draining water room to get into the drains and move through the heart of town without causing flooding. If we get rain like that again I doubt it will help the other side of town. The state fair starts on Thursday. They said it was going to be a scorcher that day. I don't know if we will go to Des Moines this weekend or not. DD birthday is Monday the 15th and her BF's birthday is the 19th. She was the one who mentioned awhile back about going to the Omaha Zoo. I'll have to shoot her a message to see what's up. She did mention that she and Dan were going to do something together for their birthdays. I'm gonna meet with my girlfriend tonight for supper at the Mexican place in Decorah. Gosh, I don't remember the last time we made it out to eat together. It might have been May or early June. I haven't seen anyone from our old factory group for a long time; after tonight I will have seen and talked to 6 in the past week.
Lair, I read your email to Jerry about the clothes. He just shook his head. You need to make two lists. One should be a Today list, and one should be a This Week list. If it don't get done today, it will go to the today list tomorrow. LOL I don't plan much because if I do, someone or something always messes it up.
Jan, I hope the coming heat doesn't stress out Allen while he's getting this chemo.
Well, I better get moving. It's almost 10 and I have nothing to show for it. So what else is new.

Well let's try this again--I had a post going & hit the shift key to start a new sentence & everything disappeared. So I will just end with that for today

Hi, to be hot again today, but hotter still tomorrow and Thursday. Had trouble getting in here but kept pushing keys (which has gotten me into trouble in the past!) but finally arrived here. Not much going on but wanted to check in.

Dang, I needed a break! When housework makes you sweat, you're working too hard! I worked outside yesterday, so I'm working inside today.
This is what I have done: ran the swiffer sweeper (waste of time). Then I got out the Shark and went over the carpet in the living room. It hasn't been vacuumed in quite awhile. I just run the sweeper over it, so it was in need of a good cleaning. I also did the seat cushions on the couch. Then I vacuumed all the way up the stairs and also did the rooms upstairs that have carpet. I came back downstairs and put the attachment on to vacuum the lin. floors. The head has a long vac hole in front of a dusting pad on the back. It picks up the big dirt before it dusts the floor. I did the dining room, kitchen, laundry, and bathroom. Then I put the other head back on and did the bedroom. I even went under the beds. I said it had been awhile since I cleaned. I stopped because I was sweating. I washed out the two filters for the vacuum cleaner and cleaned the dust cup out; I thinks it's been awhile since this whole unit got washed and cleaned up. Jerry came in for dinner just as I was finishing that up. We both ate and he went back outside. I am now going to use the Shark steam cleaner to clean the linoleum floors, and then I'm calling it quits. Well, I have just a few dishes in the sink, so I may get those done up.
Jan, If you had hit the back arrow, do you think your post would have still been there? I've had that happen a couple times and I did that and was amazed that it was still there. Once I had to his the back arrow 3 time, and the post was still there. It was while I was on the other board which had that life ring that saved your typing. I don't know if it would work here.
Janet, I'm glad you found your way here.
Well, the steamer is calling my name. I got this Shark steam mop free ($50 to buy at Walmart) when I bought my Shark vacuum and the attachments from their website. I don't mind cleaning now that I have this vac. and steam mop. It's now 1:28 and I'm done with the floors and the dishes. That was quick, NOW I get to play!

Hi! Well into the afternoon but my company just left around noon & I have a bit of catching up to do here & at home. Definitely no tasks like yours, Mary happening here. Tomorrow is definitely another day! I plan on vegging today & catching my breath. Geez, still have the sticky roaster from the ribs last night to get cleaned up! Well, it's well soaked! LOL
Glad to see this group here. I guess it will take awhile for everyone to find their way here & how things work. New things are sometimes hard to grasp. I'll need to try & figure how to downsize the odd picture I post. Guranteed no one wants to see my gardening efforts! A youngster could do better! 😊 I hope things are going reasonbly well for Allen & Tim as they deal with their chemo/radiation. I can only imagine how difficult it is for them & for those by their sides. Hang in there all of you.
Sure nice to be back with time for the internet. Have missed that these past 10 days. Tough when real life interrupts cyber friendships! 😊 No doubt that the internet has become my lifeline & I thank my daughter for talking me into getting my first computer in Jan. /99. What an adventure it all was. Lots of sleepless nights fixing the crap that I messed up! Always loved a challenge! 😊 Now, it's mostly the IPad & not so any opportunities to mess things up.
Well, best go tackle the groceries sitting on my island. Ray had to go to the eye doctor & ran errands. Always need groceries it seems though we likely could live on cucumbers. My daughter says she has to lock her car doors at work otherwise she'll find another bag of cucumbers! Seems everyone knows that 16 yr. old Kelsey loves cukes! She may well hate them after this summer, such an abundance!
Have an enjoyable afternoon. Careful outside in the heat. Very comfortable here & I even had a sweater on for a bit. No such thing as closing windows for me!

Angela, does she just like raw cucumbers? I loved to eat a cucumber with salt at that age. Sometimes I peeled it and sometimes I didn't. Hey, when you're walking past the garden sometimes things just call out to you, "Pick Me!"
Does she like them made into things like salads, or does she like pickles? We had a lady at church that made refrigerator pickles in an ice cream bucket and then she put them in the refrigerator. She put her recipe in the church cookbook. They were supposed to sit for like 6 weeks before you ate them, but my son was always in that bucket by the third week. He just loved them! She made buckets of these pickles for the church bingo night. She would put the buckets in the big walk in cooler for the catholic school lunchroom food. This was right beside the church kitchen. There was never a shortage of pickles. People loved them.

Afternoon everyone. Well finally had to turn the a/c back on, only for a couple days I hope. I can handle the heat but not the humidity. Also don't like being closed up in the summer as we have to be closed up all winter and that I don't like either. LOL
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

Kelsey will eat cucumbers in any fashion. So, she does consume a lot & even planted her own little garden patch. Her cukes are thriving & since their Jack Russell is no more there is no competition on who gets the cucumbers! 😊
