Thank you for the nice welcome! I was on TOH previously, but never posted. I like the gardening ideas! I live in central Ohio. I love gardening, but just moved to a condo where I have limited space to plant. I am single, 50s, one daughter who lives in NYC. Lokking forward to "meeting" everyone! Waving at you from Northwest Ohio, Belle! I had some health set backs a few years ago requiring me to garden in containers for the most part. My husband does help when needed, but I try to keep the things I ask of him to a minimum. Container gardening was a bit hard to get used to, but I have managed to enjoy what I have these days. Right now I have growing: green beans, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and green peppers. I have also grown onions and spinach successfully in pots. I just didn't get around to them this year. I had success one year of growing eggplant in a container, but last year I only got gorgeous plants - no fruit on them, so I won't do them again. I've tried broccoli and cauliflower too many times now. I should know better. They don't do well enough for me to use up the pot space. The same goes for Brussels sprouts. I would encourage you to try anything and everything out to see what works for you. To answer your salad question, on your other post. I have two that are always favorites when I take them places. The first one is much easier and I can remember it by heart. The second one is more time consuming and I will have to look it up before I can post it. I don't know what it is called but we refer to it as Cashew salad around here, probably because it is our favorite ingredient. It calls for one head of lettuce washed, dried (very important or the cheese will break down - so will the lettuce), and torn into bite-size pieces. After the lettuce is ready, you mix in the cashews, shredded Swiss cheese, and top with poppy seed dressing that you mix throughout. You can chop the cashews or leave them in larger pieces. Originally, I was told to use Marzetti's poppy seed dressing, and that is excellent. However, we have been using a variety of poppy seed dressings since then, and all are fine. Chill. *** I wouldn't put the dressing on until you are about ready to leave because the lettuce will wilt. I'd also add it a bit at a time until you get the amount you'd like on it. I have made the mistake of adding a whole jar, which ruined the salad. As you can see, the recipe is easy as can be. I will dig out the recipe for the other one and post that another time. Welcome to our new forum! Please join us in our conversations whenever you'd like.

Thank you so much, my fellow Buckeye! That salad sounds DELICIOUS. And thanks for the tips on container gardening - that sounds like a great option and I do have plenty of room for containers here. Thanks again!
