Good morning friends! Wishing all a beautiful day!
It's Julia Child's birthday, so the local news said this morning to make one of her recipes in her honor today. It is also Lemon Meringue Pie Day. I won't be making one of Julia's recipes nor having lemon pie for dinner this evening, but instead I'll grill our entire dinner--fish, squash, and pineapple for dessert.

Morning! Wow - We had a deluge late yesterday afternoon! Today will be muggy and hot. Ick. Lori - Thanks for opening! Stonewall Kitchen in York, ME is celebrating Julia's birthday with a cooking class highlighting a few of her recipes...French Onion Soup, Casserole-Sautéed Pork Chops with Creamy Mustard Sauce, Julia's Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Ratatouille - Provençal eggplant and zucchini casserole with onions, tomatoes, peppers and herbs, Reine de Saba - a dense chocolate cake finished with toasted sliced almonds. One of my treasured finds at "Savers" is $2 copy of Julia and Jacques. She sure was a ground breaker! Loved her shows. Birdy - That's one of my pet peeves, too. We buy 2ltr. seltzer water, and sometimes I just cannot reach them because they are on the top shelf. I often come home w/o it. DH is going to the dentist this morning so, with no car, I'll be missing walkaerobics this morning. Yesterday afternoon, I made a batch of Mustard Pickled Vegetables. Tonight we are having leftover baked chicken, rice, gravy and mixed vegetables. Have a great day! Waving!

Good morning friends.
Thanks for starting us off Lori. I'm surprised that Google doesn't mention Julia Child. They usually put something for famous people living or dead.
I'm making pork chops tonight, TJ's scallion pancakes and some kind of veggie.
The pool is calling our name today.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning, all. My favorite recipes from Aunt Julia are her Onion Soup and Beef Bourguignon. But I won't be making them today--too hot!
I'm planning to go out to get some fresh corn today and perhaps a tomato or two. Hopefully, I'll actually make my shrimp boil for supper tonight. Lately, I seem to be changing my mind on supper dishes at the last minute. I'm slightly allergic to red tomatoes--they make me itch but I eat a few anyway. I'm hoping I might find some yellow ones--less acid. While I'm out that way, I may stop in at the Mennonite market to see what's interesting.
It's cloudy and humid this morning. Luckily, the really heavy rains of yesterday rotated around us--literally. We were right in the center with a dry slot while other parts of the state got flash flooding, especially the Finger Lakes region. Bad floods out that way. The Governor has declared a state of emergency in 12 counties in the state. Poor people. We went through a round like that several years ago--FEMA still hasn't settled with a bunch of folks whose houses were condemned. I feel so sorry for the people going through this now.
Have a good day, everyone.
Birdy

Good morning, friends.
Cloudy start to our day but it makes it cooler. So that's nice.
Lori, thank you for starting us. I love Julia Child. I used to watch her show when I was a child.
Ann, sorry to hear it's humid and sticky. We have had a lot of that here this summer and it's very unusual.
Nancy, I love the scallion pancakes. Delish.
Birdy, sorry to hear about the terrible weather. Hope everyone is safe.
I am not sure what dinner will be tonight. DDIL has a dr. appt this morning. She was so crampy last night when she was here but so far the eggplant parm. has not worked.
Waving to all. Betsy

Hi to all! I'm having spaghetti and garlic bread for supper tonite. Nothing much happening after my busy day yesterday. Think I'll catch up on my papers and magazines. I have a pile that's been sorted and not going with the move. Amazing how they accumulate. Hope it's a good day in your neighborhood.

Hi friends! I won't be making any Julia Child recipes today. I could go for the pie but don't have any of that and won't be making one, so....
Turkey pot pie is on the menu for tonight. I am thawing out some pie dough "pucks" and plan on using those. I'm not certain we will be hungry though. Today at Care they had a luau. It was sponsored by some of the health care partners, they served thick hoagie sandwiches, cut in sections so even though DH and I had lunch, we ate some of the sandwiches about 2:30. Since I play cards tonight, we need to eat an early supper, too.
It was a lazy morning then I went to a doctor's appt at 1:00. It was just a follow up, and I got the results of my bone density test-all is well. I made it back to Cre by 2:00 for the party. After that I ran by our branch post office and picked up mail.
I have also been missing Chris. She must be super busy with the new job.
Hope it's a good day and evening!

Yes, I've had my mind on Chris too. I know how over-worked DD is as a Social Worker, so I wouldn't be surprised if our dear Chris is swamped with work during the day and just too tired to get on in the evening to chat. Maybe I'll have a HC this evening yet and wish her good and happy thoughts from us all.
Our next door neighbors, older couple, who have been renting the past 3 or 4 years informed us this evening that they'll be moving by the end of the year. They bought a condo just down the road. We're happy for them, but hate to see them go as they've been so nice. Worried too as to what will replace them.
I might not be on here tomorrow until the end of the day. Picked up a sub position for tomorrow, kindergarten. After just three days of school, I'm sure most of the kiddos haven't got it all together with with the rules and routines, so I'm sure I'm in for a busy day.
Goodnight friends. Sweet dreams. Lori

I am sure Chris is probably on the computer a lot and don't want to get back on it at night. You know you are missed Chris and hope you are not under the weather or been hurt or something else. Just thinking of you and missing you.
You too Doris miss seeing you on here once in awhile too. Hope all is going well with you. I know with the two boys you are probably busy also.
We had about an inch of rain last night and today. So it was welcomed!

A good day at work, then choir, and then we met DS#1 for dinner at Mellow Mushroom. He got back from Grandmother's this afternoon and will be here for a few more days. He & DH split a House Special pizza. I had the veggie calzone and brought half home. Spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and seasoned ricotta -- yum!
