Well, I am a happy mama. Both sons got in last night -- DS#1 about 9:20, and DS#2 almost an hour later. I'm getting ready to head out this morning, but will get off early this afternoon.
For dinner, I cooked a Boston butt overnight in the crock pot with salsa verde, and will let that refrigerate today so I can de-fat it when I get home. I think I'll make a paella with tomatoes and green beans to go with it.
Have a great day, everybody ~

Good morning~ Elza I am sure you and DH are happy to have the two sons home for a bit. Enjoy every bit of it. Seems like it goes too fast when they come home. Your supper sounds good.
Going after my ring today. Here is hoping I like it. Will go and have breakfast in my favorite café before. There is also a place up the street a ways where they take reels and slides and put on dvd's so will see if I can find that place.
I woke up so early today don't know why I could not sleep. Will have to see if I can sneak a nap in my chair later. Red usually wakes up and crawls on my lap and wakes me then too.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning, all. We got rain last night! Maybe 1/2" but that's enough to sink into the ground a bit. Now I will have to begin mowing the lawn again.
Interesting about the Hungarian Hamburger and German Hamburger. I looked up recipes for German seasoning and they were all very different. Was the German seasoning brand Maggi, by any chance? We have a Big Lots here--I haven't been there in a long time. Maybe today would be a good day for a little excursion. The trouble with Big Lots is that I find way more there than I should! LOL!
I made my country pork ribs in the IP yesterday. Ann--thanks for the link. It was one of the sites that I checked when I was trying to decide on a cooking time. As I had said, I found times from 15 to 45 minutes. I'm learning that the thickness of the meat pretty much determines the cooking time, not how much is in the pot. So I could cook 1 1/2 lb. of these ribs or 3 lb. of ribs with the same timing. The only thing different would be how long it takes to come up to pressure.
My bone-in country ribs were about 1 to 1 1/2 in. thick. I decided to use the high end of the cooking time I had found for regular spare ribs and it seemed to work. I rubbed them with spices, put them on a rack over water, and steamed them on high for 26 min. with a 10-min. natural release. They weren't falling off the bone but were tender enough to cut with a fork. I slathered them with BBQ sauce and glazed them in a 450 oven for a few minutes. If I went 30-35 min., I think they would have been more like pulled pork--not bad but not ribs as I like them. It's important to see if the person posting the recipe is using an electric pressure cooker vs. a stovetop since electric cookers' high setting is lower than the stovetop. You have to add 15% more time for them when converting.
Here's something else I ran across for the IP. I like to bake chicken wing sections until they are really crispy--so much better than frying. I don't do Buffalo--I sprinkle them to taste with salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and basil and eat them without a sauce. I ran across a number of recipes where people precook them in the IP first for 5 minutes. This removes a lot of the fat and makes them moist and tender. Then, you put them in a hot oven on a rack and crisp them for a while. It cuts down the baking time by about 2/3. I have to try this.
I'm going to enjoy the lower humidity for the next few days. It'll be a real treat even though it's still going to be in the 80's. I can deal with that as long as it isn't icky humid.
Have a good day, all.

Good morning friends.
I am on day 3 of trying to lose some weight. I need to lose about 20 pounds. (Dr said it would be very good for me!) What does he know! LOL
Elza- So good that you have your boys home for a time. I know you will enjoy every minute of it.
Marlene- I hope you really like the ring! If the nursing home had not (a worker really) stolen Mom's ring I was going to have that redone for my niece.
Birdy- We did not get the rain expected last night. But we have gotten quite a bit lately so we can skip it for a day or two! LOL I was looking at IP's yesterday! So I may end up with one soon! LOL So keep sharing.
Well it is Hazy Hot and Humid today! I love it! LOL I am crazy that way. Kind of like Miss P is (Paulette) She always says she loves the hot weather!
Well need to get back at work. Chris (sure do miss going to my favorite deli town on Thurdays)

Betsy- I sure hope you can get some relief from that cough. Might be all the smole in your state right now. Do you have asthma? I do and any burning gets to me.

My ring is so much prettier than I thought!! I do Love it. I love the sapphire in the middle really sets it off, I think!
Did buy some things at Wally World and washed my car. Came home as I spent enough money!!
Will mow the lawn tomorrow along with doing washing. Pat will be here to vacuum so house will be cleaned.
Saturday for cooking. I have 4 bars I am making. Got the grapes and have the cheese will make the dill pickles wrapped in cream cheese and dried beef sliced for appetizers w/ Ritz and Club crackers. Doing Lemon bars, Chocolate Chip layered bars w/caramel in between. Also Special K bars and Rice Krispies with peanut butter cups in middle layer.
I took breakfast casserole over for Chuck yesterday and had a neighbor guy who lives in Ohio now back for court day. He has been in court so many times with a friend of mine that farms next to me fighting over 13 acres of land my friend has to go through his land to farm the 13 acres. He is also fighting with another neighbor of mine property rights for fence. He likes to pay lawyers I guess. He is interested in Dads farm now!!! I was so afraid of it now it is for real. He left a note in my door. His brother farms his Dads farm to south of me and I have to keep mowing my CRP as all his thistles come down on my CRP!!! He has been turned in twice by neighbors so I haven't but does no good. So far this year I have mowed it twice and spent over $1200 I did not want to spend on it. This whole family does not get along with anybody around here, they just cause trouble!!! Sorry just had to vent!!!
Better go wash my grapes and put in bags and think better thoughts!!

Hello friends. Today is National Rice Pudding Day. I made some the other day and have a small container in the refrigerator. Might have that this evening for dessert.
Marlene, so excited to read that you are pleased with the ring--it sounds really beautiful!
Elza, very happy for you too that your boys are home! Bet they're going to love that dinner tonight.
Betsy, hope the doctor was able to give you something for your cough.
Birdy, I thought of you when I was on the Food Network site early this morning. I typed in the search box "instant pot recipes" and several came up as well as some articles on the IP.
Chris, good luck with your weight loss--you can do it!
The Red Tide continues to make things miserable down here. Since Tuesday afternoon, 9 dolphins have washed up dead on our beach. The number of dead fish removed is now over 80+ tons. The wind shifted for a day and breathing was easier as well as the itchy eyes. However, it is suppose to shift this weekend and come in from the west and push towards our beaches once more=more dead sea life.
Need to go make dinner--grilled turkey burgers, quinoa salad, corn on the cob. Need to finish/clean up the kitchen before 7PM so I can sit down and watch the Tampa Bay Bucs play football down in Miami against the Dolphins.

Hi ! I was going to post earlier but again today I cannot seem to reply when I click on Reply. I can only do the quick reply. I had a luncheon to attend that started at 1, so went to that. We had several new ladies attend. then we drove to the next tiny town a few miles down the highway to go to a neat little emporium/antique store. Turns out they were closed so we went to large consignment style mall. I got a call from DH that a few people were going out for Mexican food tonight. So, when I left the mall at 4:40 I went on over to the restaurant. Just got home from that. I wasn't really hungry so DH and I shared some nachos.
Marlene, glad you are happy with the ring.
Hope the doctor was able to treat your cough Betsy.
Sorry you lost your post Ann.
Have fun with your boys Elza.
Would like to stay around longer but I need to go and start deleting old emails again. DH thought he had this downloading stopped but I am still receiving hundreds of 14 year old emails!! Technology is for the birds at times!!
