It's going to be hot and humid here today. Itwas 77F when I got up this morning but we did have quite a pleasant breeze. Now it is 79 and feels like 95!!
I have already done the watering outside that HAD to be done but doubt I will do much more outside. This is supposed to be the warmest day of the week.
Hubby has just left to golf - I'm opting out! He did agree tho that walking might not be the best thing to do. Altho it is a civic civic holiday here in Ontario, most of the stores here in town will be open as we are a designated tourist area so I will do a little gricery shopping.
We went to friends for supper last evening and had a lovely time and meal so tonight we will finish the rotisserie chicken that hubby did on Saturday and I think I'll make a tomato pie to go with it.
How did the shower go Betsy? I'm sure you all had a great timeπ

Good morning friends.
Thanks for starting us off Tasty.
Hazy, hot and humid here today. Going to the pool is on the agenda for today.
Elza, If we ever head to S.C. again we can arrange something in advance.
Steak is on sale this week at the Shop-Rite so that's what we're having for tonight.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning friends. Thank you for starting us off today Tasty. Hope you have a nice day.
Per the morning news today is National Root Beer Float Day. That would probably taste quite refreshing during these dog days of summer. The last two days we hit 95* and the heat index was 109*. Our local channel weather people say that it will be a carbon copy everyday this week.
I had a hole in my sleep last night, a huge hole! I woke at 12:30, wide awake. I tossed and turned for maybe 45 minutes to an hour and then didn't bother to fight it any longer. I'm hoping maybe I can close my eyes later this morning, but if not, hopefully I'll sleep better tonight.
Naturally getting up as early as I did, I've already gotten things done around the house, went and came back already to the school board, and now I'm going to finish oiling the last teak wood piece. After that I'll attempt to sort some recipes that have been piling up and need to file those once again.
Not exactly sure how I'll prepare it yet, but I took chicken from the freezer this morning. I still have some rice to use up, so thinking maybe of making Spanish rice to go with it.
Better get moving. Looking forward to reading all about the shower Betsy. Waving to all!

Good morning, folks. We are headed for a nasty hot, humid day--pretty much what Tasty is facing. I'm planning to stay inside and stay cool.
I discovered a new product for me--cold-brewed coffee in a box. The brand is Califia Farms--I've been buying their almond milk coffee creamer. Both are one of those products that is shelf stable until you open it. The coffee is double strength--you just add water for iced or hot coffee. My breakfast this morning was iced coffee made with milk. Instead of adding water to the concentrate, I just filled the glass with 1% milk until it was the right color. Nummy. Unfortunately, the brand I bought was discontinued by my market--probably because people didn't know what it was plus it was pretty expensive. So they sold off what was on the shelves for 1/3 the price! Fine with me--I have two new boxes waiting for me which are good until the end of October. The coffee is strong but not at all bitter.
In the 1970's I traveled through Europe with college friends after my first year of teaching (for a cost that would blow people's minds today--super cheap by today's standards.) Anyway, on a hot, hot day in Vienna, we stopped in a little shop for some refreshment. They had Ice Caffe on the menu--we figured it was iced coffee. Oh, no! Much, much better! It was cold expresso topped with a mountain of rich vanilla ice cream and then lots of whipped cream. It was heavenly. I think the cold-brewed coffee is first that I have had that would come close to making that version of iced coffee. Trouble is, the coffee is so strong that I will have to have it as lunch, not dessert for supper, or I'll be up all night.
Have a good day, folks. Stay cool.

Afternoon, friends! I'll join the ranks of those suffering from this high heat index. I can't remember a summer where we have had so many intolerably hot and humid days. Ah, the myth of global warming...! Tonight I'm reheating the leftover ratatouille rice, baking Barber chicken breasts in the toaster oven, and making my Beet Salad with Lemon Dressing. Birdy - I buy the bottled Califia Farms Cold brew in a bottle. It disappears quickly from the shelves so I buy a few at a time. When I cannot get it, I make my own and filter it. I'll check in later. Mom is venturing out with her friend to get her nails done and then will go out for a late lunch. Have to help her out the door and get her settled into her friend's car with her little three-wheel walker. Waving!

I have the last pie in the oven so have made 3 pies so far. Will make another for Jeff and take to his Mother. He loves peach pie! Will take one to Chuck also. Have one I might freeze. Has anyone made and baked a pie and put in freezer?? I think I did once but can't remember how it tasted. Is that good or bad??? !
It is warmer here today too. We were to get rain but who knows it was lightning all around us and no rain.
So need to get back in the kitchen and clean up my mess I made. I did lots of dishes and have more after I make another pie.

HI ! Today has zoomed by...again. I actually got up around 6:30. I got a couple desserts made for the coffee shop. I had gotten a text from Jack that they were sold out of basically everything. They had an event there Saturday. He had not asked me to make anything extra, so I didn't. I already have the key lime bars chilling, and will make tiramisu later. That's what I had planned to make, but found out they are out of brownies and cake pops, so will have to make those also. I bought a blue raspberry cake mix on sale, so want to try it and mix it with some vanilla icing. I will bake later on after the sun goes down. The ac repairman is coming tomorrow but we don't know what time, so I may be stuck at home waiting. As long as I get the goods delivered before Wednesday morning.
I have the turkey breast in the Instant Pot. Just waiting for the pressure to come down. We will also have stove top stuffing and some leftover frog eye salad.
We had about a 50% chance of rain. It clouded up earlier but now is sunny.
Betsy, how was the shower? I know they loved the food.
Lori, hope you can get to bed early tonight.
Marlene, no, I don't think I have ever made a pie and frozen it.
I had seen a good sounding recipe in one of those Allrecipes magazines. The website is not very friendly, imo. I thought to just save the recipe on the website, since I already have an account. I would type in the exact name and all kinds of things would come up, sometimes never to the magazine printed recipe, other times the almost exact recipe but with a slight name change. I finally just ripped the pages out and stuffed them in my recipe file, then threw the magazine away. The one particular recipe that I was able to find online was called award winning peaches and cream pie.
Need to go and check on supper. Have a super evening friends!

A quick stop to say hey. We finished up the spaghetti for our dinner and had brownies with ice cream for dessert. Yum!
I think I will try to stop at the store after work tomorrow and get groceries for later in the week.
