We're starting off here with a dull morning but not cold. The forecast is telling us to expect thunderstorms but the radar shows none for this morning so we shall go ahead with our golf game as planned.
Town will be busy this weekend as it is a long weekend for us in Ontario so would like to avoid the grocery stores if we can. Not sure about supper. If we want salad, we do have to shop. We picked an eggplant from the garden so have to come up with something to use that up!
Have a great weekend!

Good morning friends.
Thanks for starting us off Tasty. Did you buy anything at the fair yesterday?
Lori and Helen, I've never heard of the Red Tide but it sounds awful.
Helen, I like Vera Bradley. What color is your new purse?
Tammy, I've never played Bunco but wouldn't mind learning.
Ann, How was the 50th wedding anniversary? What type of food did they serve?
Betsy, LOL about worrying if the instapot was going to explode. I had a friend who didn't like pressure cookers because her mother's P.C. exploded. She was petrified and didn't want to be around them.
I haven't talked to DD about the Beyoncé concert yet as she is still sleeping. The concert was delayed for a bit due to possible rain. Since that happened, the light rail that would take them back to the train station was closed so DH had to go pick them up. He wasn't happy about it but they needed to get back home. I don't know what time it was but I heard my friend/SIL downstairs chatting as if it was 1 in the afternoon. She woke me up but not enough to get me out of bed to go downstairs to say hi. All 3 of them, BIL, SIL, and niece speak loudly when the talk ;-| .
I ordered Chinese for lunch yesterday. So much cheaper when you buy it before 3. Last night I made the bbq chicken legs and pierogies. Youngest DD ate at a friends house.
My Blue Bloods cookbook is ready for pick up at the library so I will head over there.
Right now I wish I was back in Myrtle Beach waking up to the ocean view.
I'm thinking of ordering pizza tonight.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning!
Tasty, thank you for starting us. Enjoy your golf game. Hope the storm holds off.
Today I need to go to Costco and Walmart for the party. I only have one thing left to bake tomorrow. Just cleaning up the downstairs tomorrow and we will be ready.
It looks like we will have yet another week of hot and humid weather.
Have a great day.
Betsy

Good morning, all. Betsy, I've been chuckling about the Instant Pot, too! I'm glad you got your feet wet, so to speak. They are extremely safe--there's barely any way that someone can screw them up. I have used traditional stove-top pressure cookers for years and believe me, the IP isn't in the same league. I love being able to get it set up and on and then walk away without having to babysit it. I'm debating making a low-country shrimp boil for myself this weekend. Making potato salad is an absolute cinch. The cut potatoes and eggs are cooked together--5 minutes after pressure comes up. Chill the eggs in cold water right away and then make your salad when the potatoes can be handled. I don't even peel my red potatoes--I use the little ones. Easy! Using the pot keeps the kitchen cool. Here's the recipe I use--it's cut in half for me. It'll give you an idea of the timing. Instant Pot Potato Salad Red Skin Tried www.realfoodrealdeals.com/instant-pot-potato-saladServings 2-4 1/2 pound red skin potatoes chopped (I cut baby reds in halves or quarters, depending on size) 1 egg 1/2 celery stalk diced 1 scallions diced (white and light green parts only--I used chopped Vidalia) 1 1/3 tbsp. organic mayonnaise (I used heaping tablespoon Helmann’s Canola) 1/2 tsp red wine vinegar (I used rice wine vinegar) 1/4 tsp stone ground mustard or your favorite kind Salt and pepper to taste Fresh chives for garnish Pour a cup of water into the Instant Pot, then add a steamer basket to the pot. Place the chopped potatoes and the egg on top in the steamer basket. Set the Instant Pot to 5 minutes on manual high pressure. Once it’s done cooking, wait 2 min. and do a quick release and remove the steamer basket from the pot using a pot holder. Place the potatoes in a large bowl and put the egg in a bowl of cold water to cool a bit. Then peel egg, cut in half, and remove the yolks to a small bowl. Mash the egg yolks with a fork. Add the mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, and mustard. Stir to combine evenly. Chop the egg whites and place them in the large bowl with the potatoes, along with the chopped celery and scallions. Pour the dressing onto the potato mixture. Stir gently to coat evenly. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm or refrigerate until ready to serve. This link has the most of variety of IP potato salads that I have seen: instantpoteats.com/instant-pot-potato-salad-10-delicious-ideas-variationsIt's very, very humid here right now and we may get 1-2 inches of rain by tomorrow--the most we have seen at one time since early July. The rain has been skirting around this part of the state for weeks. When it's icky hot and humid like this, I don't feel like cooking. I've got to stop getting takeout, though. Got to get going. Have a good day. Birdy

Good morning friends.
I am at a Starbuck's in Northern Maine. Camping is very primitive at Hermit Island. Showers are cold and very brief (thankfully) Rained very heavy just after we set up on Wednesday. We had just put the tarps on the tent and awning. So we have a nice set up. We stayed quite dry. Lots of thunder and lightening. Dan's sister-in-law had a heart attack and they live in very Northern Maine. So we are headed 2 hours north to see them. We found a service area and it has this Starbuck's so I am happy. Had a You-know-What!!

Good morning. It is suppose to be sunny and 84° today. But it is 11am and it is cloudy and thundering. Tommorow is Halloween here. Trick or treater's at 4 pm. That will be fun as in Arizona we live in a gated place so no trick or treaters. There is a Halloween party for everyone from 7-10 but we don't have any costume so not sure if going.
I am also scared of the instant pot but my sister loves hers and uses it a lot.
I made a loaf of banana bread yesterday as it was cool.
Tonight for supper will be grilled hamburgers as we have fresh tomatoes from our neighbors garden. He also brought us some string beans that dh grilled with olive oil and seasoning.
Take care. Elaine

Afternoon! It's just beastly out. We had a wicked thunderstorm last evening; swore it stalled right over the house...whew! We may get another later on this afternoon. Chris- Hope Dan's SIL is OK. Hmmm! Nope, no cold showers for me...been there; done that 40 years ago! When we went camping we used a big tarp and some heavy plastic sheeting to make a nice "room" over the picnic table. We also had one over the tent. Like you...a nice set-up! Birdy - Thanks for the IP links. Betsy- Glad the turkey breast came out well for you. I have a stovetop that has a safety valve unlike the old fashioned ones. Since I have a gas stove, once it comes up to pressure, I can adjust the heat once, set the timer, and do other things. I do glance over at it just in case, but so far, I've not had to do anything but wait! Those of you who have the IP...Are you going to get rid of your slow cooker, etc.? Nancy - The 50th isn't until Friday, the 17th. I just heard from the host and found out that it's "dressy casual"...no denim! Let me know if you find any recipes you like in the BB cookbook. I looked at it online; they only show soups & salads...recipes look good! LOOK INSIDE BLUE BLOODS COOKBOOKTasty - Thanks for opening. I'm going to make the Lime and Sesame Grilled Eggplant (with some zucchini) to go with Sunday's White Fish Cakes recipe that was in my market's magazine. Tonight we are having Shrimp with Dill Mayo dressing atop a composed salad. Waving!

Got up this morning and paid some bills I got yesterday and put in mailbox and decided to mow. I got done around 11:30 and came in with new mail so looked it all over and read the paper. That was my morning so Chuck called had sweet corn and brought me some and gave some to Sherrie too. So had some w/tomato for dinner. Let Red in and it so hot out there in 90's and he was ready to come in. Now need to get my body in and get showered. I am so tired out from last 2 days cleaning on the folks house. I guess it is the relief it is all done. I even slept in this morning.
Tomorrow will go get few groceries and do some cooking and get some tomatoes at Farmers Market and whatever looks good. Will have to do something with some peaches also. I told Chuck lets go out for supper so will take them to Red Lobster in Council Bluffs. They like fish and I like shrimp and will see the price on Lobster and make my decision. Have never ate there so will be new for me. My DD and I went to one in Texas and was good for lunch.
So is a ho-hum afternoon for me but will get to the shower now. Hope I won't be so tired tomorrow!!!

We did one of the harder jobs today, cleaning out the boxes from the storage unit. We left Hubby's furniture from Memory Care there for the movers. Hot job in this awful heat even though the storage unit is temperature controlled inside. We came home, took showers and then naps.
As we were going through stacks of my printed recipes for packing the other day, we found a few that sounded so good we put them aside to try soon. DD made the "Roasted Onion Soup" tonite and it was delicious. We also had garlic bread.
Nancy, my new purse is navy blue with a white turtle pattern. Very cute.
We had thunder again this afternoon. No rain this time but it looks like rain any minute. Have a nice weekend, all. Sweet dreams.

Just a quick hello this evening. Spent the day grocery shopping at Publix and BJ's, then stopped at Bed, Bath, and Beyond . When I finally got home I had breakfast sandwiches to make for DH, bedding to do, and I just came back from a long bike ride. Need to hop in the shower and then empty the dishwasher.
Made a chicken stir-fry for our dinner. I have split peas soaking to make a pot of soup tomorrow.
Waving to all. Lori

I'm late getting in. Today being a Friday, the 3rd of the month, and the beginning of South Carolina's tax-free weekend meant a very busy day. And on Monday we'll be busy again when all that money comes back! LOL
We ordered a pizza for dinner tonight and I enjoyed every bite. :)

Just a quick hello from me, too. I, worked at the resale then drove Helen to Walmart to do shopping after lunch. It took her quite awhile. She always uses an electric cart, but they were all is use, so I had to look around the parking lot to find one. I finally spotted one about 1 aisle over, but it must have been sitting out for awhile because that black plastic seat was scorching hot!! I had to stop and stand up a couple times, or I was afraid of getting blisters! I knew Helen could not sit on it, so I got a floor mat out of the car and put down for her. I almost had to cancel taking her because there was no car available. They were both out and the only thing left were the 2 buses, which I would not drive. I thought to drive my car but had a dead battery! (DH has charged it, so all is well now). I was on my way over to tell Helen we could not go until a car showed up, when I saw our little Mazda pull in. When I got home I had to rest, not used to being on my feet for 1 1/2 hours. We had breakfast for our supper tonight.
I watched a different weather man and he has our rain chances at 60% tomorrow. There is a good chance on Sunday also.
My only plan for tomorrow is getting to the store and getting stuff for Sunday pot luck.
Sleep well!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site. I found out about it on facebook. I used to really enjoy the old taste of home website where they had forums like this, and everyone would chat and share recipes. I asked the ladies on the facebook site, and they told me about here. Just want to say hello to all from sunny California :)
