I was not on much here. We had a really bad set of storms come through on Friday. Did a lot of damage. We left (or tried to) work early. Some debris down in the parking lot. One car had a big branch on the hood. But the worse was at a local senior housing complex. 4 feet of water from a water main break and local flooding combined to wash out the street. They needed to evacuate the residence so I went back and opened up our office to get people in where it was dry until relatives could come for them. We still have 16 with no family. So they are bedded down in the community room at the other senior complex. I have volunteered to be there nights for assistance. We did have to take 2 to the nursing home and one to the hospital. Been a long week end. I will go back tonight for the whole night to cover that shift and will go to work in the morning as the building is right next door. I can nap during the night at the community room. Well I hope I can LOL Been rough for the seniors.
DS is coming over today to do a BBQ. Looking forward to that.
Chris (tired but HC helps!)

Bless your heart helping the needy Chris. What a mess it made for everyone. We always get through them but at times it seems endless. Enjoy your BBQ today and hope you get a nap in to help you out.
Just seen where the guy passed away that always helped with my water and septic issues. He had cancer and was not doing good. So was a blessing from God that he took him home. Left his wife with a lot of chores. She has few cattle and a farm house and land to take care of. Jan is very capable and sure she will do all right. She used to be the DNR at our little lake by us. She knows what the word of work is. Just hope she can take it easy a little as her back bothers her too. They were very good to me and helped me so much.
Going to go to church and took up most of food so will take the salad/dessert up today. It is made with graham cracker crust cool whip and cream cheese then layer of strawberries then mix lemon jell-o w/ice cubes and boiling water until thick and mix in cool whip and layer the last layer. Is easy to make just takes time. Also made lots of deviled eggs and strawberry/rhubarb pie. So don't have to heat anything up. Sorry to see the Interim go but glad we have a new Pastor and wife also.
Have a wonderful day!!

Good morning all.
Hope thingscan get back to normal soon Chris! That would be tough for the seniors. Good for you, helping out Chris. Sometimes we just have to do what needs to be done.
Your food always sounds so good Marlene. Hope the new pastor and his wife fit in well.
Not sure that we're going to want much to eat today. . We had a planned power outage here this morning from 5 till 9 so we went into town for breakfast. Best breakfast in town but we were early enough that we got a table straight away. We got home at 9 and the power was back on 🙂 . . .
Have a lovely day.

Good morning. 56 and partly sunny. Like Kathy, I slept in until 9 this morning. I would wake up and feel that nice cool breeze and just snuggle under the blanket and go back to sleep. Yesterday was along day. I worked 9 1/2 hours. We were steady all day. From 5-8 last night we did over 140 covers. I go back at 2 today and that will be an 8 hour day. I was fine until I got home and sat down last night for a bit then the old bones and muscles started to stiffen up but all seem to be working this morning just fine. All I did yesterday before work was download a couple of more games onto Annabelle's computer for her to play. It is amazing how quickly they learn from their older siblings. We have a great staff this year. Everyone works together and no one takes the attitude its not my job. I can't complain about the time I put in as I am well compensated. Wages in the state have gone up so I make a $1 an hour more than last year plus for the first time I get 5% of the waitress' tips. DD works a double every Saturday and I know she made over $400 in tips last weekend and yesterday was almost $400. Tomorrow it is back to reality. Have at least 3 and maybe 4 Gkids.
Chris, that is wonderful that you are volunteering to help out with the displace seniors. Hope you are able to get some rest tonight. DH's BBQ sounds great for tonight.
Marlene as always you food sounds so yummy. It is difficult sometimes when a new pastor is assigned. Hope all goes well with the new one.
Time to start thinking about getting ready for work.
Have a great day.

Hello all.
I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday.
Chris, I hope everything gets better for the seniors. Enjoy your bbque today.
We are grilling shrimp for tacos. My avocados didn't ripen that I bought at Costco. I guess I will put them in a paper bag and use them another day.
I am going to clean up around the house today. DDIL had car issues yesterday but she was only coming over here. She made it but when she left her car was dead again. I thought that might happen. She got a new battery last night. She likes coming over here in DS is working.
Waving to all. Betsy

Chris, bless your heart for what you are doing. Stars in your crown, my friend. I hope you can get caught up on your rest and enjoy the time with your family.
Marlene, hope all goes well with your new pastor & his family. They will be well fed, for sure!
What a smart cookie you are, Tasty, to get to town early for breakfast while your power is out. Good thinking!
Bet, you stay busy all the time! Have fun with the kiddos tomorrow.
Betsy, good thing your DDIL is close by. I hate dealing with car trouble. At least it was something that could be fixed easily.
A nice quiet day so far. DS#2 said he would call this afternoon. We haven't talked to him for a couple weeks so it will be nice to catch up with him. I think this is the last week for the class he's teaching. I can't believe it's the end of July already!

Good Afternoon ! My goodness Chris, that was an awful thing to have happen. You are very kind and devoted to help out. Get some rest every chance you get!
It sounds like everyone has had a very good day. I got up early and got the casseroles in the oven, and then I laid back down since I had a whole hour and a half. Well, DH and I both fell asleep and I woke up at 8:25! We try to leave around 8:40. We always try to get there early since I always have food to deliver to the kitchen, then we head in to the sanctuary and I refill the attendance cards and envelopes on the backs of the chairs. A group meets for prayer right before service and Marge (the lady who rides with us) likes to go to that. It starts at 9:03. She did not ride with us today, so it worked out for us to be a bit later than usual. Church service starts at 9:33 so we were in plenty of time for that. I brought home empty dishes and everyone loved the butter pecan cake.
As soon as the lunch was over we drove to the town of Lufkin, about 45 minutes north. DG went and picked up the new computers, and I went in to Bed, Bath & Beyond. I was looking for an air bake 9 x 13 but they did not have it. I also went next door and looked around Ross. When I was done there, DH was also done. I had thought if it was later, closer to supper time we might use our Cracker Barrel gift card, but it was something like 2:15 and we were not hungry. I doubt we go anywhere tonight to eat. I suspect DH will be busy getting the new computers set up.
I need to go and clean up the kitchen, as I left in a big rush this morning !

Afternoon, friends! Today was a bit less muggy, but we still have the AC on economy 68° since early afternoon. It was good to open some windows when I got up early this morning. It has been a relaxing day. DH is going to cook a spatched chicken. I roasted some fingerling potatoes and brussies and mixed them with a lemon vinaigrette, a TOH recipe. Will have all with a fresh salad tonight. My mom's friend is home from vacation, and she came to play cards with her this afternoon. Happy Mom!!! Happy me!!! Chris - Bless you for all that you did!!! Maybe you will see the new summer Honda ad (with the seagulls). It's filmed on the Plum Island turnpike on the way to the refuge where we go bird watching. The pink house is a local, beloved landmark, and the Bob Lobster is a really good "clam shack". Have a great evening! Waving!

Bless you, Chris. It's comforting to know there are still people like you who step up for those in need. I'm sure those seniors were bewildered by the situation.
We took a rest day today, much needed. For supper we had salisbury steak and DD's cheesy cauliflower, a meal in itself for me. We had bits of rain today and more in the forecast tonite. There were nice rumbles in the background during my nap. Sweet dreams.

Good evening one and all. Today was National Chicken Wing Day and National Lasagna Day.
After going to Sprouts early this morning, I don't think I'll be shopping there much more. Every visit I find they are out of most items they have in their ad. Today I inquired about the variety of melons they were suppose to have on sale and a man replied they didn't have any in this very nasty tone. I asked for a rain check and you would have thought I was cutting his arm off--if looks could kill, he had me 6 feet under! Drove 6 miles down the road to Lucky's and got what I needed and they were polite and friendly to deal with.
I also had to stop at Lowe's and get more potting soil and pots for my mango and apricot seeds I wanted to plant and put on the lanai. While out I saw we will be getting a new to us place to eat in town called Maple Street. It's a biscuit shop. Anyone ever eat in one?
Got word that FIL was able to come home today after 3 months in rehab. He is now able to walk with a walker. Beginning Monday he will have in-home PT and OT twice weekly and he hopes to use only a cane in time.
Chris, bless you! You've got a heart of gold and those seniors are so lucky to have you! Hope you can cat nap this evening and praying tomorrow will not be too demanding of a day for you after working tonight.
It has been on and off rain all day. Warm but not too bad and little humidity today due to the gray skies.
I have some laundry that needs my attention, so I'll say have a good evening and waving to all!
Lori
