Morning! Didn't have a chance to visit yesterday. This week, my mom's friend is away on vacation, and I arranged for another friend to come for lunch and cards. I ordered subs and we played Aggravation. During the afternoon, a big storm blew in dumping so much rain on the west side of the house that water leaked in around the stand pipe, and it started "raining" in my mom's kitchen. In all of the years she's lived there, that has never happened. That repair is now on DH's "list"!!! When I went to order the subs, I handed the cook a detailed list of what was wanted on the 4 subs. I numbered the subs 1,2,3,4 with the details. Well, the guy thought I wanted 10 subs...1 turkey, 2 ham & cheese, 3, etc. DH almost bust a gut laughing when I told him about it!!! We're eating "Southern" tonight. A friend at the senior center gave me some collards. I cooked them in the slow cooker with some smoked sausage links and chicken broth. I'm just about to mix in some purple hulled peas and I have some cornbread in the oven. Will reheat tonight. DH has a bone scan and another test to check up on his prostate cancer...they operated 20 years ago, but the buggers have resurfaced. Prayers are appreciated. Have to get back to the kitchen; will be leaving in an hour or so. Waving! Enjoy the day...ours will be muggy and in the 90's. UGH!

Ann, saying a prayer for your DH (and for you) this morning. Your Southern dinner sounds mighty good to me.
TGIF is right! Looking forward to the weekend -- no plans except fun things -- dinner with my sister & DBIL, and maybe a local theater production of "Cabaret" with a friend.
Have a good one, everybody ~

Ann, hugs to you both as you wait for results from hubby's tests. Nerve wracking for you both, I know.
I'm headed out the door soon for our monthly breakfast so I had better get dressed. I'll be back later.

Have been in the kitchen getting things ready to make more jam. Pat is coming to clean and will stay busy in kitchen.
Ann so sorry to hear of DH's problems. Prayers to both of you. I am sure it is not an easy thing to go through. The guy who has done all my septic and water problems is dealing with that. He has for long time and now they put him on Hospice.
Helen thinking of you too as you go through your DH clothes and such. It is a hard decision to start to do it. I guess when my DD was here she said let's do it and it will be done Mom. Smartest thing I ever did. The tears flowed but we got it done and was 3 years ago in May. August 1st would have been 45 yrs. for us. Time does fly by can't hardly think it is August coming already.
Will go out and mow this afternoon as we are to get rain this evening and Saturday. I hope we do after all the rain there are cracks in the ground already. My yard does not look bad but would after a rain. The water grass has really come on.
We have not heard from Doris for a long time. I hope she is doing o.k. That is where my DGD's are at a Run camp. They are having a wonderful time. They come home this Sunday. The parents pick them up in Gretna, NE. One fell and skinned leg but DS said she will heal fast. Sure Dad not your leg!!! DS loves his girls and would do anything for them makes me happy. I am sure their Mother would too.
Well better get ready to start one batch of jam will make 4 batches today.

Happy Friday!
Nice to see the end of the week for dd's first week back to school. She is ready for the weekend. She has decided to join a club that does community service for the hospital near us. Her sister had 400 hours of community service and the UC schools like that.
No plans this weekend. DDIL spends a lot of time with us when DS is working. He is working an ot shift tomorrow so maybe she will come over and eat with us.
Tonight will be fried rice, edamame, and sliced tomatoes.
Ann, lol on the subs. Hoping all is well with you dh. My neighbor just moved to NH for 2 years. Her husband is in the Navy and is going to Dartmouth. She was at the Taylor Swift concert in Foxboro and making me homesick.
Waving to all.

Ann--prayers and hugs for both of you that this turns out well. Leftovers for me tonight. After a day off from the humidity, it came back again this afternoon so I'm thinking of having a cold supper. Supposedly, it is going to be a really nice weekend for a change. That's good since this is the Hall of Fame induction in Cooperstown. They've got quite a few outdoor activities planned including a big parade. I'm only 40 miles from there and not a huge baseball fan but you can't escape the excitement since it takes over all of central NY every year. Of course, it brings in about $5 million or so of revenue which is a big deal for us. There isn't a hotel room available within a 2-hour drive in all directions. Our county fair is in full swing, too. I used to love to go to county fairs and eat my way through the concessions. They aren't the same as they were when I was a kid when we'd go in the morning and stay until dark, watching horse shows and all from the stands. These days, not much is going on during the day except 4-H competitions. It used to be a big deal for my family that we would eat 2 meals at the fair since we never, ever ate out for lack of money. It could have been the worst hot dog in the world and I still would have been thrilled! LOL! We have the possibility of strong thunderstorms late in the day but so far nothing has been showing up. We could use a bit more rain but not the severe part. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. I ran across this recipe for Zucchini Cheese Pancakes the other day. Sounds interesting but I wasn't sure how you'd serve them. As a side? One reviewer suggested offering marinara sauce on the side for dipping. What do you think? www.allrecipes.com/recipe/223352/zucchini-cheddar-pancakes/Have a good evening, all. Birdy

Afternoon! We're back...long day! We won't know anything for a while, I don't think. Thanks so much for your concern and prayers. They are greatly appreciated and comforting. Birdy - That pancake recipe looks good! I'd think about serving them as a side. I can't bring myself to use fat-free cheese, though!!! I just bought Kodiak brand multi-grain pancake mix that I want to experiment making veggie waffles as a side dish...perhaps to put a hamburger on top. Chris - I like most greens especially Tuscan kale and escarole. I've made Birdy's Utica Greens and it's really good. I've never cooked dandelion greens, but I've had them raw in a salad. Betsy - That's a long drive from Dartmouth to Foxboro; hope they stayed overnight!! How close are those fires to you? I pray for those impacted; it galls me that this big one was set!!! Tammy - Love those veggie tots! Have you seen the veggie/white bean onion rings? Those are good, too. Marlene - Hugs to you. Helen - Same to you, too. Tasty - Hope your breakfast was enjoyable. Time to go up and check on mom. Enjoying the evening! Waving!

Hi friends. Tried to check in yesterday however the site said it was experiencing difficulties and to check back later. I did, several times, but with no luck.
Company left this morning and have been trying to get things done around the house since they pulled out. Not rushing, it will take a few days to catch up on everything.
Ann, keeping your DH in my prayers.
Not cooking tonight--we'll order a pizza and enjoy it here at home while we relax.
Waving to all.

We had pizza too!
I had a lovely breakfast. Only 2 of our group were available this time but we decided to go ahead anyway. Would you believe that the 2 of us spent as long talking as 6 of us normally do! However, by the time we had finished, we had put the world to rights 🙄
On the way home, I stopped at a local place that is ready to wind up its plant section for the year (Canadian Tire) and by the time I left I had purchased 5 new perennials. A gorgeous selection of healthy plants, not dirt cheap, but about 40 - 50% off.
Came home and did some work outside. When hubby came home from golf I told him there were also some healthy grape vines on sale so late this afternoon, we went back to town and he picked up a couple of vines to go by the backdeck. They were 75% off 👍
While in town I suggested stopping for a beer and a pizza. Right on main street, with an outside patio, this place only sells local beer and thin crust pizzas but so good. A nice relaxing day for me.
Hope you all had a great day. Will be thinking of you (((Ann)))
