Morning! We have fog, wind, and rain to start the day, and it's supposed to get worse!!! Goody! I just got an email from Yankee magazine and there is a blueberry recipe. If you click on it, there is another link for more blueberry recipes. YankeeThere is also a recipe for Brown Sugar Bourbon Steak Tips. DH used it with strip steak last night...very yummy and not very boozy. He cooked the onions in a bit of the marinade on top of the stove. They got beautifully caramelized! Tonight we are having the rest of the succotash pasta salad and corned beef. No other plans today. Have a great day! Waving!

Thanks for starting us off this morning Ann.
We have had a few hours of gentle rain and a couple of heavy showers but now the sun is shining and the wind is still blowing and the temperature has dropped into the 60s. Not sure by the radar that we will even get more rain today.
The Open is on TV from Scotland so we will definitely watch at least some of that and I'm sure that hubby willwant to see the German grand prix as well - a tough day!
As long as we have lived in this area, we have only ever had one butcher's shop (supermarkets all sell fresh meat too) but over the years it has moved from place to place and one owner died on Christmas day a few years back. The last owner died in his sleep at Easter this year. Definitely doomed! However, the nephew of the last owner has now taken on the store, moved it again into a newly renovated, bright store, using the same suppliers etc. It just re-opened this week so yesterday we stopped in and picked up some London broils to have tonight. I think we'll get some potatoes from the garden to go with them and a salad.
Wishing everyone a super Sunday 🙂

Tasty--there is nothing like a good family-owned butcher shop. I don't care how much the big markets brag about their meat, it's not the same. I buy mine from a 105-year-old market run one family and nothing compares with their meat. That's the only place I can buy American-grown lamb.
I wish I could say that we had some nice rain. Showers came through last night for a while but the ground was barely wet when I got up. We're getting a stiff breeze gusting to 35 which dried off everything. It was really strange--the rain system curled around us, missing the valley here for the most part but gave people to the north, west, and east rain. We need it so badly.
I am thawing that single pork chop to try in the Instant Pot tonight--finally! The new cookbook by Janet Zimmerman has a revelation. Usually, people cook their pork to death in the pressure cooker and either get pulled pork or really, really dry chops. Her recipe for smothered pork chops calls for 1 1/2 inch thick boneless chops, which is 3 times thicker than mine. She browns them, then takes them out and sautees the veggies, adds the liquids, and then puts the chops back in to cook. Now . . . this sounds really different. She cooks the chops on the low pressure setting for just 1 minute with a natural release of 4 minutes. The internal temp should end up at 145°. So I guess I will try her timing but use a shorter natural release and see what happens. This should be interesting.
Pork just isn't what it used to be. On the good side, no more worries about getting it well-done. I like my tenderloin roasted to 145°. After it stands the temp goes up some but it's not overcooked. Of course, pork is so lean now that overcooking it is the kiss of death. :)
I guess I should get this day rolling--I've pretty much lost most of the morning on the computer. Have a good day, all.

Just made a TOH recipe of Angel Hair with Chicken & Cherries. It looks really good. Made a 9x13 pan for Chuck and I kept one dish out for me. It has sprinkled nutmeg over it and smells so good. Those dried cherries are expensive but good!
Just got a picture from DDIL my twin girls are on there way to Colorado with the Nebraska Elite Track Club. So happy they could go as Piper came down with stress fracture in her left foot this time. She had one before in right foot. So don't think she will be able to run as she wants to run in Cross Country at school. She has to let it heal. So glad she decided to go with Paige too. They are such nice girls and will do anything for anybody. You don't find this in many 17 yr. old girls. They have always volunteered to do so many things. This is what they wanted for Christmas last year. So I gave them money for it and told them they could use it for the fee to go or use it for spending. They just got back from Houston going with church to volunteer down there. To cut there expenses they got a loaf of bread and peanut butter an ate that for breakfast!! They like to save money and not spend!!
Looks like we will have the 80's here for a whole week. I would rather have 70's but will tell myself better than 90's and 100's!! We could use some rain too. The bad tornado and all that storm was north of us so no rain again. Feel sorry for anybody going through a tornado.
Church was in the park so not going today. We have a nice church and air conditioning so not one to sit in park. Good for kids there is a splash pad there. Will run to town later as I have to take my shower and dress yet. Will grab a bite to eat there. Dairy Queen has chicken strips, gravy, french fries, drink and sundae your choice w/one topping all for $5. So will bring it home to eat.

Marlene, what smart girls your granddaughters are. They must take after you! Enjoy your DQ meal. I love that chicken basket with fries and gravy but it is only a very occasional treat for me. LOL at church in the park. Our church does that at Labor Day every year and we have never gone -- usually use the long weekend to visit family or just get away since I don't have to play that Sunday.
Ann, your description of the steak tips and caramelized onions would make me hungry if I weren't full from lunch. Sounds delicious.
Tasty, I've never bought meat from a butcher shop before but the sausage I cooked on Saturday sure was good. They sell marinated pork chops and steaks that I hear are very good, so I may have to check out more of their meats.
Birdy, I hope your pork chop turns out perfectly. We had pulled pork for lunch today and brought home plenty of leftovers.
We enjoyed lunch at our favorite BBQ place today and as always had enough food for at least one more meal. I even had a short nap on the sofa this afternoon. We had severe thunderstorms last night -- I don't think we had hail but many areas did -- looks like it will be a rainy week but hopefully not that stormy again.

Just made 3 kinds of squash cubed, onions, small potatoes cut in half, mushrooms and seasonings in sprayed pans. Have one for neighbors (Lee's) and Chuck's. Each gets a 9x13 pan of it. I had a small dish and very good. Bake an hour.
I did buy some peaches so will make cobbler for tomorrow and deliver to both. I ran out of gas to do them today!! It is a day of rest right???
It is a nice day to rest today.

A quick hello friends.
Made a big breakfast for everyone so we skipped lunch. Dinner this evening will be meatloaf, Pioneer Woman Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole, some I took a few loaves of quick bread out of the freezer.
Waving to all. Lori

Good afternoon friends.
DH took me to the mall in Mass today. We left early as it is a hour and a half drive. I got a really good deal on 2 tops at Old Navy. And a good deal on hand sanitizer at Bath and Body Works. I got enough for my co workers. Also hit it big at Christmas Tree Shop! Love that place! I used to meet BJ from the old TOH BB at the one in Bedford Ma when she came out to see her daughter.
I got some really small canning jars for the jam. So I can give more away of the raspberry as I am going to have a lot of that. I want to do some blueberry sauce for pancakes in the small jars too.
We had lunch at the food court. There is a Japanese place there that has great Teriyaki Chicken, we love it from them. Had enough so I will not be making supper and will just heat up some leftovers if we get hungry.
Hope you all have had a great day.
Chris

Hi ! I hope everyone is keeping cool. I am trying but it's getting harder. It seems the upstairs ac isn't working again, so we only have one and it's doing it's best, but it is still quite warm in here. I have not looked at the weather but today and tomorrow were supposed to be extremely hot days, with temps at 100* and the heat index about 10* extra.
Today we went to church, ate lunch there, then came home and napped. Except for cleaning up the kitchen I have not had the energy or will to do anything except sit in the recliner and ejoy what ac we have!
We may go grab something for supper in town.
DH got to church yesterday around noon. I returned something at Walmart, then got over there at 2. It did not take much work to get everything done. Luckily I took my tablet so I did cross stitch in the down time. We kept waiting for someone to show, and they never did. We called the police dept and also the sheriff's dept and ended up fixing to go boxes and delivering them! We only had 12 boxes to make. We are not sure what happened exactly-either they did not know about the free dinner, or it wasn't well advertised and forgotten about, who knows. There is lots and lots of pulled pork for the church to have one day soon!
I found another person on the unclaimed money list, so I am up to 19 now.
I've been meaning to mention that all is ok with DH's bank account. He figured out what those $1.00 charges were.
DH said he got a text message from the owner of the house next door, asking if we were still interested in buying it. He said he will be here in another couple weeks.
Lori, I hope you are able to enjoy the company that is visiting and not being worked to tears!

Sounds like everyone is busy shopping and cooking and what ever. I did make two Peach cobblers after all. It was either do that and sit and slobber over all the fancy beach places!! Made small one for Chuck and one for me and 9x13 for the Lee's. Jeff stopped and was going to go up and pick up all the things laying after Jan filled the old well at Dad's. So could pay him for doing all the spraying up there. He is my working hand and I want to pay him for all his work. Those boys help me a lot so we are going out for supper Sat. night. too. So when they are done will deliver them.
Chris your jam sounds wonderful. That is my job for tomorrow. Pick more rhubarb and make some more jam. I have quite a lot of strawberries to thaw and use with it. Still have some last years Rhubarb to use up also. Just need to tell all these people if they want more bring back my containers!!

Marlene, have you ever made rhubarb marmalade? I love it and we make some every year for our Festival of Trees bake sale.
We decided to wait for the London broils until tomorrow and have salad tonight instead. We had a late lunch and neither of us is very hungry.
