Happy Friday to us! I was reminded on the news this morning that today is the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Did y'all watch it on TV? I remember it was fairly late at night so it was a big deal that we got to stay up to see it. My grandparents came over and watched with us.
Hope it's a good day for everybody! I'll check back in this evening ~

I was taking courses over the summer before beginning my grad work in college so I was staying in the dorm. We all gathered around the TV and cheered them on. It was an awesome experience. At home, my mom was by herself watching it. She was born in 1904. So here was a woman who had seen her very first airplane fly over their town when she was 7 years old watching a man step onto the moon. Another awesome moment!
I ordered an Instant Pot cookbook, "Instant Pot Obsession" by Janet Zimmerman, and it came yesterday. This is a much more down-to-earth book that others I've seen. I've stopped buying actual cookbooks because there is so much out there online but I am familiar with this author and it got good reviews. I've already seen enough to figure that she's had a lot more experience with it than most and her suggestions are quite different on a few things. It'll be interesting to try some recipes. I do have to complain, though, that the index is really strange. There are quite a few things that are not listed in the index! I already wrote a couple of page numbers in myself. Odd.
Got to get going. Have a good day.

Hello and good morning friends. Today is National Lollipop Day, National Fortune Cookie Day, and National Ice cream Soda Day.
I've been lazy to a point this morning (still in my nightgown), but have had the laundry going for a while now. Need to get myself moving--go fill up the car and stop at the grocery store so I can cook dinner this evening.
Tammy, I checked out www.missingmoney.com site you mentioned. Although I didn't find any money for DH or myself, I found DD some, and possibly some belonging to my DB that passed away last June (I will have to check into this one a bit more). I also found maybe 4-6 of DH's relatives that can claim some money. Thanks for sharing the site.
Dinner tonight will be Chinese Lemon Chicken
Waving to all.

Elza, forgot to mention that I do remember watching the Apollo 11 moon landing. Actually, I was sleeping and my parents woke me up to watch it, telling me "You can't miss this, it's going to be history".

Been in the kitchen this morning. I made One Pot Chicken Spaghetti and Lemon Chicken with Potatoes. They both came out good. I got them off of Facebook. Next will do all kinds of Squash, Zucchini, and onions. Makes a good dish too. Also made a Strawberry / Rhubarb Pie. So have been busy. Took out all the trash now will do the squash and go get my mail.
Will have the pie after we go out for supper. Will be nice to see Mark and Kim again. We always have things to discuss ! I am anxious to hear about their vacation. They met their three boys in Colorado and rented a house so they were all together. I bet they had a good time.
Hope you all have a great day!!

Afternoon, friends! It's another banner summer day; looks, also like we will have a rainy week coming up. We sure can use the rain because we are under moderate drought conditions. I well remember July 20, 1969. We all gathered around the TV. My grandfather was born in 1882, and he was thrilled to be able to watch it. Tammy - I had to laugh about your meatball sandwich experience. That is exactly why I put meatballs in a bowl and have a side of toasted cheesy Italian bread!!! Helen - Glad you could get your tire fixed. Thinking of you as you pack and pack. Hugs! Birdy - I've given most of my cookbooks away, but I just can't resist a new one to just read every once in a while! Where was the cookbook printed? I have one from TOH that doesn't have all of the recipes in the index; it's printed in China. Took mom to the Dollar Store. They sell beautiful cards for 50ยข each. I stock up on gift bags and fancy soaps (made in USA) to give as token birthday presents to friends at the senior center. Tonight we are having shwarma...hummus, tabouli, Armenian string cheese, Lebanese bean salad and pita. So good, and I feel lucky to have such a good Lebanese bakery right down the street!! Enjoy the rest of the day. Waving!

Hello ! Almost forgot to post! I have looked off and on all day and read what has been posted. I worked at the resale shop in the morning, DH went to the gas station for lunch with a resident who loves their food, so I was on my own. I stopped by hartz chicken buffet. I also went by the library for the book sale. I got a cookbook, 2 cd's and a book on cassette. I stopped by the grocery store but they did not have ham hocks. DH is wanting to go by the store for bbq sauce, so I think we are going to get something for supper from Burger King while we are out. He can get sauce and I will get ham hocks. I plan on making a big pot of pinto beans to take to church Sunday.
Lori so glad you checked the site missingmoney. I am still looking up names as I think of them. I went to the Pennsylvania treasury site, since they do not participate in the missingmoney one, and I found something for DDIL from when they lived in PA. It may be her I should say. She is checking on it.
I went by the coffee shop quickly while I was out. Jack said he had a check for me, but he was not there. All the cake pops are gone and Jack's son was begging for more! I got a pineapple cake mix to make some-that sounded so good to me. I don't have the memory of seeing the moon landing. I missed that and missed the Beatles on Ed Sullivan too in 1964!
Need to run-must take the dogs outside before we go. Have a nice evening.

Forgot to mention that Ray and Rhonda offered to take my cat. Now we just have to find a time to get her down there. We are working at church most all day tomorrow for that Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I am not certain but I believe they wanted to set up something outside for serving, but if that is the case, I am sure I could not hack being outside when it's 100* for very long. Hopefully I can hang out inside the building and work in the kitchen. We might try to run down Sunday afternoon. DH is anxious to get rid of her. If we don't go Sunday then it will be the next weekend.

I'm late checking back in but it's been a good day.
Ann, you mentioned your grandfather. That reminded me of my great-grandfather, who celebrated his 100th birthday in April of 1969. He said, "When they put rubber tires on buggy wheels, we thought transportation had gone as far as it could go." He died that August, shortly after we landed on the moon.
