Good morning friends.
We had a little bit of rain overnight but lots of accompanying thunder and lightning. It should certainly help the garden, but I would like to have seen a little more than we got. However, itwas better than nothing.
I picked the first of this year's raspberries yesterday. So good 😊.
Not sure what we'll eat tonightv but in my mind right now I'm thinking chicken with potatoes and cabbage from the garden.
Hoping it's fit to spend time weeding outside this morning.
Have a terrific Tuesday.

We have had some nice rain on and off overnight with little drama from thunder and lightening. It is still feeling humid but getting better. Wow! Am I looking forward to a change in humidity and temperature.
I dropped into Amazon this morning to see what is going on with the Prime Day. I'm not really interested in anything but wish they had done this earlier when I was looking for an Instant Pot. The 6 quart version is selling for $40 less than what I paid for mine--and I thought I got a good price. Oh, well. The story of my life. LOL!
I found a deep stainless-steel 1 1/2 quart mixing bowl locally that fits perfectly in my IP sitting on a trivet. This will be perfect for cooking Pot in Pot which is often necessary when cooking 1 or 2 portions like I do. Those amounts often don't have enough liquid to work up pressure. I can put the ingredients in the bowl, sit it on top of the trivet with a cup of water in the bottom, and cook it without worrying about burning it. I think I may try this with a single boneless pork chop with salsa. According to what I've managed to find, that size chop should only take 5 minutes with a natural release afterwards. I'm anxious to try it out. Supposedly I can do the chop right out of the freezer for double the time but I think I'll do it thawed for the first try.
Have a nice day, all.

Good morning friends.
Tasty, Yum on those raspberries.
Tammy, Larry's potatoes are frozen single serve mashed potatoes that come in different flavors www.walmart.com/ip/Larry-s-Cheddar-Cheese-2-ct-Mashed-Potatoes-10-oz/10292832
Betsy, It looks like your DH is going to lose some weight while you're away lol.
I need two new front tires for my car. I can't stand sitting in around in auto places but it is what it is. I am taking oldest dd with me and she is so thrilled lol. Sixteen year olds are so much fun to wake up and let them know what todays agenda is! I want her to come with me because she needs a book for school and it's not far from the tire place. I'm not making 2 trips!
Helen, I agree, packing is not fun. I know one place you'll locate once you get to Texas is the library ;) .
Must run for now.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning. 67 here and dark. Our rain was suppose to start around midnight last night but so far only .05". The decks are barely wet. Yesterday I had my 3 girls all day. It was hot and humid. I put the A/C on for a while but you are going to laugh at me. The house got down to 79 and I was cold so had to turn it back off. Before Annabelle and Natalie arrived I got all the baskets and containers watered and deadheaded. Also got all the bit pots that are just sitting on the deck watered good and deadheaded. I still have a lot of cuttings that need to be deadheaded and many need to go into bigger pots. I had planned on doing that after Annabelle got up from her nap and the sun was off the deck but it was just too hot out there it take her out. It was 90. However, DGD did finally bring me my top soil so spread another 440 of wet top soil in the bed I am redoing and got fertilizer in it. Unfortunately the bed was in the sun by then so I came in soaked for the second time. After the sun was off the bed last night I went out with the Ryobi and cultivated the entire bed to get the top soil to mix in with what was there. Today would be a good day to plant but I have to be to work at 4 so don't really have time. I do need to go to town for mail and a few groceries sometime today. The mystery critter is still a mystery. The trap got cleaned of the bait but didn't spring so it is off running somewhere. I don't think DSoIL had it set correctly. It is an old trap and not in very good condition.
Dinner tonight will be egg and olive salad sandwiches after work. It is quick so maybe I will get to bed before midnight. Last night I had sliced and froze the leftover corned beef from St. Patty's Day so had an open face Rubin.
Today I need to transplant a plant into a better pot for Addison so need to get some soil wet up. Then I think I will start working on the small geraniums getting them cleaned up and some into bigger pots. That should keep me busy until time to get cleaned up for work.
No time to chat.
Have a great day.
Bet

Nancy--I looked up the Larry's Potatoes because they sound like a good idea for single meals. Once I found it, I realized I have had them! I just didn't know the brand name. Nice to have for a quick side.
Bet--I'm sorry you are not getting rain. It has been raining most of the morning so far--not a deluge but the kind that sinks in. It'll take quite a bit more to break this drought, though, since we were more than 5 inches down before this started. My friend and her brother have several large fields of soybeans that are really struggling for lack of rain.
I sure would like to know what your critter is--as I'm sure you do, too. Be sure to keep us posted before I die of curiosity! LOL!
Talk to you later.

Good morning friends. Today is National Peach Ice Cream Day.
Nothing much happening here...load of whites in the dryer.
Looks like dinner will be Roasted Tomatoes and Pasta with a salad on the side.
Helen, although packing up your house to move won't be a "fun" thing, having your DD by your side to help will make it more enjoyable. I bet right about now you are counting the minutes until she arrives.
Waving to all! Lori

Afternoon on this tropical New England day. It was so humid this morning that we had fog! The sun is slowly fading into clouds, and the forecasters say we are in for some nasty weather...possibly a tornado and up to 8 inches of rain. Yikes! My luncheon with folks from the senior center has been postponed until tomorrow because of the forecast. One of the members lives on a lake and recently bought a paddle boat. We are supposed to christen it tomorrow (The Minnow (pronounced in French because she is a retired French teacher!) On of the ladies is going to get the music to Gilligan's Island...we figure we'll sing it as we walk down the path to the boat! She had a half-bottle of champagne to use!!! Fun! Everyone is bringing a dish for the table. I mixed up some hummus with diced vegetables. Just finished making pita crackers for it. I also got some Armenian string cheese for folks to try. We had swordfish last night...so good. There is enough left to make a fish salad for later in the week. Tonight we are having corned beef and succotash pasta salad. Birdy - Good luck with cooking the pork chop! How thick is it? I guess the "new" way to cook a steak is from frozen so maybe frozen pork chop would be too!! Helen - Thinking of you! Bet - An open faced Rubin sounds delicious. You sure do work hard in your garden! Tasty - Yum on fresh veggies. Are your potatoes mini ones or do they grow fast? Boy, it getting so dark! Have to go upstairs and close mom's windows...! Will try to get back later if the storms aren't as severe as they say. Waving! It has been cloudy here but no rain. I went and had my hair done and looks nice. Did get some fresh peaches and they are delicious! So juicy and sweet. I have another batch of jam on the stove. I need to use all the older rhubarb an get it used up. I had strawberries frozen and so ready to get some made.
Don't know anything new really, they called and I need to go down and look at the two sapphires they got in to see which one I want. I am putting it in the middle of the 4 diamonds. So anxious to see it.
Bet it makes me tired how you keep up with everything you do!! You are a super gal to get done what you do and then babysitting also!! I hope your Children appreciate you for all you do and then working elsewhere too!!!
Have a great day! Marlene

Ann--we were very dark this morning with some thunderstorms for most of the morning. Nothing severe. I'm sorry to hear that our weather appears to be developing into really nasty for you as it moves east. Fingers crossed that things turn out OK. Up to 8 inches of rain! Oh, my. You folks may really need the Minnow tomorrow! For a threeee-hour tour! I can just imagine the procession, complete with champagne. Is the singing before or after you drink the champagne? Oh, that's right. You're going to use it to christen the boat. What a shame. Why not christen the boat with an empty bottle? My instructor decided to have the class meet at a town park about 10 miles from me. Considering the fact that the clouds are still low and dark, I'm glad I have excuse to stay home. It is still pretty humid. It's supposed to get better in about an hour but I don't see myself painting outdoors today--even if it is in a pavilion. I'm getting lazy in my old age. The pork chop is probably about 3/4". It was in a gift box from Omaha Steaks. According to what I've read, the secret to success with pork chops in the instant pot is in paying attention to the thickness of the chop. No matter how many you have in the pot, the cooking time is the same for one or 6 once it comes up to pressure. And I'm finding that the times are much shorter than they used to be now that pork is safe at a lower temperature. So a thawed boneless chop like that would take about 5 minutes--perhaps 8 if frozen. Since I like to put a little brown on before I do a chop in sauce, the cooking from frozen would have to be a desperation move for me, I think. I'm not sure if I have enough ambition to do it today--still too warm and humid. I'll let you know what happens when I get around to doing it. Birdy

Good Afternoon ! Hello from very hot Texas, where the feels like temp is 105. So very thankful for AC!
Have not really done much today except go to town for gasoline, post office and a few things at Walmart that the other store did not have.
Supper tonight will be lots of leftovers plus some of the brisket that DH smoked. He wanted to try out brisket in the electric smoker.
We have a wooden deck that runs along side the rv, but it has been so hot that the girl dog won't walk on it! She jumps off into the grass!
While I was at Walmart I meant to look at Larry's potatoes, but I forgot-it was not on my list! They sound good and quite convenient.
Ann, I hope the weather is not as bad as predicted. Have fun tomorrow.
I found a package of acini de pepe on clearance at the store so bought it and plan on making some "frog eye salad" to take to church. Maybe not this Sunday but soon. This Sunday is beans, rice, cornbread, so I plan on making a large pot of pinto beans. Probably a dessert also. I'm thinking of a dessert shared by a friend while we were in Florida. Bake a white or yellow cake, poke holes all over while hot. Pour in Sweetened condensed milk, then thawed frozen sliced strawberries, and top with Cool Whip.
This week I am planning on baking some chocolate cookies and also some butter pecan bars for the coffee shop. Just have not gotten around to doing it yet. The bar recipe is easy-it's a dry butter pecan cake mix, canned coconut pecan icing, eggs and water and extra nuts. Spread in pan and bake! You dust the top with powdered sugar.
Hope everyone is enjoying the day.

I am home from the dentist and still numb. They said to stick with softer foods and chewing on the other side of my mouth until I come back in 4 weeks. Not thrilled about that but, oh well. I have some mashed potatoes here for dinner and will see what else I can find in the pantry.
DH took his mom & sister back home today and stayed to do some yard work at his mom's. He'll come back home tomorrow. So another quiet evening for me. I'm already in my pjs!
