Good morning friends.
Betsy, I hope the a/c guys work quickly today. Especially if it's going to be 100*.
Tammy, Some Yankee made good fried chicken as good as the deep south? LOL I love fried chicken.
Tasty, How was the rehearsal dinner?
Ann, I admire how you try various recipes with unique ingredients. I've never made homemade sausage.
Bet, You've been busy cooking too! I'll add pita bread to the list of things I've never made.
Elza, I agree that it must be good therapy for you and your sister to be together sorting through your moms things.
Jan, I wish I could send some of our cool weather to you and Betsy. It's sock season here again lol. Brisk at night and in the morning but the afternoons have been nice.
Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes for DH. Friday night when we were at the hospital, DH was wheeled down the hall to get a cat scan. He was left in the middle of a very busy hallway so he took his blanket, covered his whole body from head to toe and laid very still letting people think there was a dead body in the middle of the hallway lol. Glad he was able to keep his sense of humor. When I went back to the hospital yesterday he still wasn't allowed to eat or drink. I asked the nurse for some water or ice chips but she said she couldn't. She gave him a cup of mouthwash and a swab to wipe the inside of his dry mouth. He texted me later saying he was allowed a mini cup of cranberry juice and then some soup broth. He can't wait to come home today.
I have steak for the kids and I for tonight. I will have to wait and see what DH can have.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

I like your Hubby's sense of humour Nancy. Me too! I know he will be glad to get home and you will all be glad to have him there. BBQ chicken in the crockpot for dinner tonight. I have red-skin potatoes in the pantry so mashed potatoes would be good to go with them.

Good morning. 35 and sunny however they are saying mostly cloudy. Last night was the last of our threads for frost for a while. However, off the mountain in the outskirts of town they did get frost yesterday and I am sure again this morning. My DS was 30 yesterday morning.
DS wasn't able to cook dinner last night some other family plans came up so I had some venison vegetable soup from the pantry and a western egg sandwich.
Spent most of the day cooking. The little chest freezer is starting to look a lot better. Did go to town late yesterday just before dinner and picked all of the green tomatoes at the community garden and did a little shopping for a few things that were on sale that I needed. Well most I needed but I did pick up kielbasa which I don't have a lot of and it was buy 2 get 3 free so 5 of the rings cost me less than $9. In fact other than vacuum ziploc bags and wax paper everything was on sale so a $50 grocery bill turned into $33 so I did good. Only thing I will probably need this week is milk as what is in the refrigerator is getting old so may make some more ricotta cheese with that.
Have all my recipes out for one more day of cooking. Will be making slice and bake chocolate chip cookies and another one that has coconut and nuts in them. Need to make a Greek salad dressing, tzatziki sauce and the marinate for the lamb for dinner tonight. Also want to get a batch of Artisan no knead Deli rye bread dough made and in the refrigerator. Then some pita chips and a chipotle hummus. I just finished baking the bagel chips and have the pimento cheese to go with them so have plenty of snacks for a while.
Tasty, glad the rehearsal and dinner went well. Have a great time at the wedding today.
Nancy, I am sure you DH can't wait to get home. He has quite a sense of humor. Sounds like something my DH would have done.
Elza, your BBQ Chicken sounds interesting. I very rarely use my crock pot and don't really know why.
Have a great day.

Wow, I didn't get here yesterday and missed so much!
Nancy, glad you got your DH to the hospital in time and that his surgery went well. Nice that he is got such a great humor about him! I'm sure all of you will be happy to have him back home today!
Tasty, glad the rehearsal went well and the meal was good.
Betsy, 100* today--hope those A/C people work quickly!
Okay Jan, I'll take the blame for that roasted tomato spaghetti---it is so good and I'm glad you are enjoying it!
Ann, it was the Cape May Café we ate our seafood buffet at. It was okay this time, but neither of us were totally happy with it as we have been in the past. We usually go for when it opens at 5pm, but couldn't get in this time around until 7pm. Don't think that should have made a difference, but something was off.
Yesterday we went to EPCOT. It was about 93* and the heat index was 112*. Miserable was the only word to use to describe it. People, not use to this type of weather, were dropping to the grown. DH and I purchased several small bites from the World Showcase countries as we walked around, but we couldn't really enjoy it due to the heat and watching people passing out everywhere you looked. Finally, around 1:30, we decided the heck with it and went back to our place. We parked ourselves in the pool and that's where we stayed. We never even bothered going to another park since at 6 it was still 91*.
DH is ready to get things packed up here, so I have to get off the computer and get moving. I will try to get back here if possible later today, but if not, tomorrow. Enjoy your day.
Lori----no idea what I'm making for dinner--I'll give it some thought as we drive back home.

Good morning all.
Nancy, that is the worst feeling when they won't let you have anything to drink and you are so thirsty. Glad he will be home soon.
Elza, have a great day at work.
Bet, you are so busy with your cooking!
Oh boy, Lori, I would have been miserable in that heat at Epcot. Hope it cools for you soon.
Well, it will be 102 here today and I agree with all of you. I hope they switch these units out fast. They are sending a 4 man crew but we have 2 units. I think I will throw some chicken in the crockpot and make a taco salad for dinner.
Have a great day all.

Good morning to all. I say WE (that Red!) got up so early and I went back to bed! So have done several things in the house that needed done for the day. Supper was excellent at Mark's last night. Drove up and the smoker was going and smelled so good and it was very good. He had country style ribs on there and Kim had Hash Brown casserole, broccoli salad and corn. We had a nice visit and I was back home early.
Nancy that mad me laugh at your DH in the hallway. Easier than talking to everyone walking by. Not having a thing to rinse his mouth is awful. Don't they have those wet suckers to swish around to make it moist again? There is nothing you get off them just makes it moist in mouth. He will be glad to be back home. I am assuming they did the little places on the tummy rather cutting him open? He will be glad to get your good cooking when coming home.
Lori sorry it was so darn hot you could not enjoy your time at the park and the food not great either. When we don't go out often it is disappointing not to get good food.
Tasty so glad rehearsal and supper was good. Where did they get married? I know he lives a ways from you. Good luck to them and hope they have a happy marriage.
Betsy here is hoping you get your air conditioner installed fast today. Those St. Anna winds have to be terrible. Hope for no more fires too. Jan was mentioning them too.
Elza I am sure you had a good time with family cleaning out things in your Mothers place. That is a job and I don't wish it on anybody. It is sad when you lose them then have to go through all their things. I had to do my Mother's and DH husband's folks twice and now have my Mother's house to get ready to sell. It is like is there ever an end. I want my house to be rid of all the don't wants and sorted through everything. So that is why cleaning out 2 junk drawers!! So much we do not need!!
Hope you all have a good day and don't work so hard! Marlene

Good Monday morning to everyone. Well the weather did take a change from very hot on Saturday to pretty darn cool this morning. It is definitely jacket/ sweater weather today, suppose to get to high of 71 so should be a nice day. I ended up making a tuna noodle casserole yesterday and shared it with my neighbor also had peach pie for dessert. I'm thinking a pot of ham and beans with cornbread sounds pretty good, but will have to wait until I get to the store to get the stuff. Nancy so glad your husbands surgery is over and he is on his way to recovery now. Take care and hope he will not have to much pain. He will be so glad to have something to drink. Oh my goodness I could not take that much heat so probably wouldn't even attempted to go to the amusement park. I would have been one of the people passing out. Have a good day today whatever your adventure might be today. I forgot all the good stuff I read this morning but I know most had a good week-end. Waving hello to everyone and wishing each of you a good day.

It's been a lazy day here. DH got up early but came back to bed and we both slept in. We ate leftovers for lunch and I plan on making sloppy joe cups for dinner tonight.
We are going to leave here soon and take a look at the Bennington Monument. then DH will drop me off at the salon then he will go and get a hair cut also somewhere.
It looks sunny out-not sure of the temp since I have not been out.
Nancy, I'm sure Dh will be so happy to be home.
Lori, hope it cools off soon for you.
Chris, glad you made it back home safely and enjoyed the weekend.

Bet, my BBQ chicken is frozen bone-in chicken breasts thrown in the crockpot with a bottle of Sticky Fingers sauce poured over them. Cook all day on Low. I do like using a homemade BBQ sauce and have a good recipe, but this morning I just needed to get something in there ASAP.
Marlene, all 3 of us girls have said that cleaning out Mama's place makes us want to go home and start throwing things away. Stuff just accumulates so fast! I really try to keep a handle on it but things do pile up.
Nancy, hope your DH is home and feeling better.
Lori, how nice that you had a pool to go jump into! Sounds like the perfect place to be today.
Potatoes are boiling on the stove so I'm just about ready to go mash them. Hey to everybody and have a good evening ~

Good Afternoon Everyone, I have been MIA for a time trying to deal with my sister's sudden death a few weeks ago and do some canning. I am finishing up a bushel of tomatoes this afternoon then have a half bushel of chili peppers to roast, clean, seed and freeze. I have a small amount of green tomatoes to make pickles with. I almost bit off more than I could chew as I don't move as fast as I once did....My knees are barking.
Nancy, I am so pleased to read that DH is doing well and hopefully gets to go home today. Your husband's antics remind me of my husband. A number of years ago we were in in My DH's Dr.'s office and having a long wait.......there were about 7 or 8 little ladies having a real "hen party" and after a while DH said in a loud voice, "quite frankly, when you hit 65 they ought to put you to death". I almost walked out and left him but it only took seconds for the nurse to put us in a room to see the Dr. and close the door. He was seen quickly and we left.
Hugs to all and have a great evening. I am going to get this job finished, order a pizza and watch the debate. No cooking tonight.
Cheers to all, Doris
