Good morning. HHH here in central NY, too, Chris. I'm just getting ready to close the window and turn on the A/C for the rest of the day. Enjoy the pancakes.
Betsy, I've been following your daughter's story with interest. Good for her! If it makes her feel any better for not getting a 5 in statistics, we had a special name for that subject at the university--Sadistics. I had to take it twice--once as a business major with an emphasis in economics and a second time specifically for education majors in my grad year. I don't recall enjoying it any more the second time around but I did get a healthy respect for just how misleading statistics can be depending on how the data is collected and handled. That was a lesson I never forgot!
I'm planning to do a small batch of St. Louis cut ribs in my instant pot tomorrow. There's just enough for a meal with leftovers for me--got them on sale, too. Since I have leftover fried chicken, that will be my supper tonight with some potato salad--from the instant pot, of course. I like the fact that I don't have to warm up the kitchen to cook.
Have a good day, all. Keep your cool.

I just made some deviled eggs and have a peach/raspberry pie in the oven and will bake a 9x13 pan of lasagna for supper later in day. We have potluck at church and deacons make the ice cream. Always a good meal. They play games but us older ladies just watch.
I am hoping to be able to mow my lawn before I go today. It is not bad looking but rain is in the forecast for tonight. So hopefully can get that done.
We did get sticks all picked up at Dads farm and hoping he gets it mowed today too. If not I have a guy coming by that will get it mowed. I told him to make sure it is mowed every week before the sale. Want it to look nice up there. Jeff has been spraying weeds too. Jeff is my good helper as he farms my ground here. Elaine Terry is the same guy who has lived on folks farm. But since I served him with papers to be moved by July 29th he has turned his bad ways again. I think I have done a lot for him and he should be acting better but who am I?? He lived there for 2 years rent free and was paid cash for everything he done for DH. That is what happens when you treat people good sometimes!! I did not start to charge him rent until ways after DH passed away. My kids had a fit so I started to charge him $250 a month when houses in Harlan are 6-700 a month plus utilities. So sorry I am not. I did what I could to help them and was not enough I guess.
Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!!

Good morning friends and Happy 4th of July!
Chris, Today is Wednesday lol.
We didn't have the ribs last night since youngest DD and I saw people on t.v. eating Chinese food. So you guessed it, we ordered Chinese.
Tonight youngest DD will have her steak and we will have ribs.
The weather is overcast here with a chance of a thunderstorm. Not sure if we're heading to the pool.
Enjoy your day.

Happy July 4th, everyone! Our plans changed this morning when DBIL texted to say that my sister is sick. So we will stay home and probably just have a quiet day. If DH decides to fire up the grill, we have hot dogs and chicken. It's cloudy right now so we'll see what the weather decides to do.

Thanks Nancy! When I have a day off in the middle of the week I am so lost! LOL Betsy- Congrats to you DD! What a great kid! Shows she had a great upbringing as my Mom would have said! Kudos to you and DH! Marlene- Some people just have to show their bad side the more you do for them! Weird huh? Birdy- I laughed about your Sadistics! Good word! We are already HHH! Thinking of going swimming! We made waffles with strawberries and blueberries and bacon from brunch(by the time we got to eat with a 7 year old doing the "cooking" LOL
Elza- so sorry your DSIL is sick and your plans had to change. We are going to see the Claremont fireworks tonight. The Vermont Symphony Orchestra last night was so good.

Good Morning! Happy 4th of July to all, and a big thanks to the military and others who gave to the cause of freedom.
It is cloudy and damp here, but also a little cooler. A storm moved through yesterday evening. Before it even started raining we lost power like 3 times, but each time it was only off about 1 minute. We have a surge protector, so even if the power comes back, the protector keeps it off for about 3 minutes. During the worst of the rain and lightening we did not lose power.
They are serving burgers and hot dogs today for lunch, but we did not sign up. I still don't have anything planned, so need to talk to DH. We can either go grab something or get something at the store to cook. Nothing really sounds good though to me.
It was up in the air if the parade was going to happen or not. The rain let up, so DH went and hooked up the trailer to his golf cart, and the parade went on. there was the trailer and 3 decorated gold carts was all. Not sure how many people in the rv park turned out for the "parade". There was about 10 residents who rode on the trailer. Several dressed up. We had Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty and Betsy Ross. Marlene, I think you will be happy to have Terry gone from your life. Let him go and find someone else to take advantage of.
I did check and found out that we will be playing cards tonight, so that's good. I may have to miss next week because it is Lisa's birthday. Lisa works with DH, she is the activity director. She is a single lady, so DH wants us to take her out to eat that night.
I called to schedule my bone density test. Things got a little crazy with MIL, so that got shoved to the back burner. I go in Friday afternoon.
Hope everyone enjoys the day! God Bless the USA!

Thanks for the nice words Tammy. I will be relieved when he is gone. I can not tell you all the dumb things he had done up there and still doing!!! he wanted to have it appraised so he could buy the acreage I said NO it is being sold as a whole farm. What they do with buildings and house is up to the buyer. I was going to have it leveled but auctioneer told me let someone else spend the money, so I will.
Went out to mow and turned on the blade and belt came off!!! It has never sounded right since I got it back. Who ever put it on did not do a good job. Since I have $158 bill I will write a note in it!! The belt was $69.95. Like I say he lost my business!! I can go spend $5,000 somewhere else.
Since I am having such a wonderful day........ glad I made my food early this morning so that is not a flop!!

We just got back from the Care Center where we ate lunch. DH signed us up and did not tell me! Not sure about supper, we may go out somewhere.
Last week DH was having problems with his mower, it threw the belt off 3 times, so he gave up mowing and took it in to the shop.
Did I mention that DSIL and I found an old quilt and a velvet bedspread in the very top of MIL's closet. The quilt was made by my MIL's grandmother! We decided to save it for the next auction that they have at the family reunion. The bedspread is extremely heavy, and it is made for a full size bed I think. It has fringe all around the edge. It is a classical print on it with lots of scrolling, cupids, and pillars I think. It is off white with shades of gold, pink and blue. If the SIL's don't want it I will take it. I suggested they may want to auction it also.
It has not stopped drizzling, but should get better as the day goes on.

Afternoon, friends! Company just left after enjoying a wonderful birthday luncheon for my mom. She was very happy to have her family gathered. Food was great. DH just grilled the chicken drumsticks and sausage I had cooked in the slow cooker so they warmed up and got grill marks. Easy peasy. The pasta salad with fruit was so light and refreshing...a winner. The Cole slaw had ginger in it so it, too, was quite refreshing. Aldi's brioche slider rolls were so delicious and folks liked making mini sausage, peppers, and onions w/ provolone sammies. Ice cream and frozen mini-eclairs (I forgot to take them out!!!) were just right after the big meal. All is cleaned up, and I'm down for the duration!!!! It is really hot and humid as it is all over the US. House stayed cool with the one AC and the strategically placed fans. Betsy - That's wonderful news about DD!! I would have gladly shared some of my lobster roll!!! Chris - Who is "the 7 year old"?!?! Marlene - Hope Terry doesn't do something nasty before he moves. Folks like him scare me...never know what they are thinking. your food always sounds so delicious!!! Elza - Sorry your plans had to change; hope DSIL feels better soon. Birdy - Love ribs in the pressure cooker. The recipe on TOH for Pressure Cooked Memphis-Style Ribs is really good! It didn't call for BBQ sauce, but we did dip them in "Sticky Fingers", and I saved most of the liquid to make "dirty" rice with the leftover meat. Tammy - That's neat about the quilt and spread! Tasty - Friday should be the breaker day for this HHH; hope the storms are not to fierce. I made a salad using kale, romaine and other bits in the fridge...came out yummy. Lori -Even though I'm nice and cool in the house; the thought of bicycling makes me sweat!!! I suppose as you are zipping along there is a "breeze"!!! Hope that storm does stay away! Elaine - Lobster is all gone; next time!!! LOL Hope everyone has a great evening. Waving!

Good evening and Happy 4th to all!
Ended up making a quick trip over to the other side of the state to see DD and SIL. DD has been w/o A/C in her car a few months now. SIL was always saying he will fix it, but DD got tired of waiting and asked DH yesterday if he'd come in fix it on the weekend. However, DH has to work Saturday so we went on the spare of the moment last night. We drove over in heavy rain and wild lightning, the entire 3 hours, but once we pulled into town, it let up like magic. Went out for a late night Chinese dinner then stayed up late talking. This morning DH and I got right to work with the car. He wanted to get it done before the heat of the day and more rain were to kick in, so by 11AM we were done and heading back home. DD had a 10 page research paper she had to work on--DH and I didn't want to hold her up on that fun project, so we got out of her way. Once again, we had to deal with strong storms the entire way home. Not the most enjoyable road trip, but hey, we got done what needed to be done and DD was happy as can be that DH came when he did.
Stopped at Bob Evans in Naples around 1PM for a late breakfast so we just now finished some chicken for our dinner. Glad I had made it on Monday night and didn't have to do anything but reheat it today.
Hope everyone had a nice day and I'll check in again tomorrow. Tired, probably not going to last much longer this evening. Fireworks are suppose to go up at the beach in about an hour, but rain is still around and a storm is coming down from Tampa area. Lots of thunder and more crazy lightning flashing as I type.
