Good morning all. Happy birthday to your hubby Nancy. He shares his special day with my Mum. She turns 94 today. Hubby and I are both golfing this morning and it is a lovely bright sunny morning altho it is only 55F right now. It will warm up to the mid 70s which is plenty warm enough for me. Hoping I have the inclination to get out and garden later on - lots could be done. Supper tonight will be a pork loin, roasted , with hot veggies - not sure what but maybe peas now that the local ones are available. Apple sauce and gravy are a must!! Have a marvelous Monday

Have the washer going and made out a grocery list and here I sit with iced tea. Have been doing things in house that needed done seems like you don't have to look far!
Red is out for the 4th time. Will leave him out it is cloudy and not hot yet. He will get under the pine trees. I opened my front door and was all kinds of little ants on the door step so sprayed them all. Don't know what would attract them there as I never use the door only if someone new comes to the door.
Jeff came over and sprayed my terraces and sides of CRP yesterday. Hope it was on long enough as we did get a little rain last night. I just got done mowing so we each had a beer and I paid him and we had a nice visit. He is so good to help me out too. Nice to have good neighbors. So I try to treat them all good.
I have some hamburger I put in fridge to thaw and will get stuff to make a spaghetti lasagna. Was a new recipe I saved with many more. So will get things in store to make tomorrow. As I have to go for blood work tomorrow.
Hope you all have a good day.
Marlene

Good morning, all. The two days of rain we have had finally stopped overnight. It's cool and breezy this morning--nice weather to get some yard work done. Not something I really want to do but I hope to get it mostly finished sometime this century! LOL! Did you know that dulce de leche can be made in a pressure cooker in a fraction of the time of boiling it on top of the stove? pressureluckcooking.com/recipe/instant-pot-caramel/ The cooking time is 40 minutes! I imagine it would be about the same in a stovetop pressure cooker. I don't know if it is less expensive to make it from scratch yourself. I had forgotten about this--years ago a friend used to do it but she cooked it right in the can unopened. Not a good thing--the can could explode! His method is safer. I have also seen where people pour the milk into mason jars or a stainless steel mixing bowl and cook it on the trivet. I'm going to experiment with some ice cream--I bought a small ice cream machine that works without pre-freezing the container. It was on sale on Amazon for about the same price as the Cuisinart with the freezable bowl. It only makes 1-2 pints at a time which is perfect for just me. Bet--I saw your post about home made ice cream. You're making the Philadelphia recipe rather than frozen custard. For me, that makes more sense since I don't want to fool with precooking and custards. I have some base recipes that sound good and I want to play around with my own flavors. I can also control the sweeteners, too. Well, I've got to get going. Have a good day, folks. Birdy

Hello friends. Today is National Catfish Day and National Strawberry Parfait Day.
I began the day my washing the shelves down in the refrigerator. Then I ran over to Publix and the Amish Market for a few items. We have an east wind which is expected to bring back in heavy rain this afternoon, so next I went for a bike ride. After a shower, I am now going to get ready and tackle the ironing. With the heat and humidity and working outside in the yard, DH and I contributed a lot to the laundry this past weekend.
Looking forward to my new appliance cord being delivered today. I can go without using my mixer for weeks and now that I can't use it, I've wanted it to mix one thing or another everyday.
Dinner this evening will be something with chicken, just not sure what at this point.
Got to get moving--hope to get back here later.
Lori

Hi everyone! Happy Birthday to Nancy's DH and Tasty's mum. Hope it's a great day for all.
I just got home from the coffee shop. I took in shortbread and also raspberry bars. I have had the bars but never made them. It uses 2 cans of filling, so they were very gooey. If I make them again I will use 1 can, to make them easier to manage. Two cans if fine at home, but not for the coffee where I have to place individual servings on a platter. I am hoping to get a couple more things made for them before we leave on Thursday. I might do more of the coffee cake muffins, and I have some patriotic cupcake liners I need to get on display pretty quick before it is past the fourth of July.
I stopped by the pizza place and got a couple personal pan pizzas for us for lunch. I passed DH at the driveway and he was on his way somewhere, so he will be coming home a bit late for lunch. I am keeping them warm in the oven.
The feel like temp here will be between 100 and 110, depending on your exact location.
I am thinking philly cheesesteaks for supper. I bought all the ingredients so need to make them.
Next time I see the dulce de leche in a can I am going to buy several. It would be nice to make it quicker, if I was inclined to make it again. We only have 3 small markets in this town and the store I was at did not carry the dulce de leche even though they have lots of Mexican products. I am pretty sure the other 2 stores carry it, I was in a hurry and did not want to make another stop when I was shopping on Saturday.
DH said we can leave here Thursday to head back to Oklahoma. We will probably stop in OKC and visit our good friend Mary. if she's home. She went to Israel in March and has some things she wants to show us. We will probably eat out all day Thursday, but on Friday evening and Saturday evening there are events planned for DH's reunion. We will come back here on Sunday.
My new friend Sue loaned me a couple pressure cooker cookbooks, and I need to get some recipes copied today and tomorrow so I can return those to her on Wednesday. That's my plan for today.
Marlene, I would be interested in the spaghetti lasagna recipe if you want to share it! I saw a recipe on facebook for a Mexican lasagna that sounded good. I hope to get it made soon.
I hope it's a great day in your neighborhood.

It's a rainy old day. I'm listening to Beatles songs and feeling 16 again. Such beautiful music. Also doing several loads of laundry after skipping a week. I went to Ted's Montana Grill for a takeout turkey dinner yesterday. Sunday is the only day to get their wonderful "thanksgiving" dinner. Could only eat half so have the rest to look forward to tonite. Loving this rain and the Beatles' "Here, There, and Everywhere." Lovely.

Afternoon, friends! Been a busy day shopping! Went to Savers and got a few things for summer wear. Right next door is Aldi so I went in and got another piece of lamb for the freezer. Right next door to Aldi is a Dollar Store where I got supplies for my mom's birthday next Wednesday. DH was supposed to go out to lunch today, and we were supposed to have a salad for supper. The lads got their signals crossed so they are going out tomorrow. Switched Mon & Tues meals. Just finished making what we call around here...goulash. Rice, ground meat (turkey this time)and diced veggies (onion, mushrooms, and zucchini), corn, chopped kale, and a can of diced tomatoes. Will serve it with grated Romano cheese. Tasty - Happy Birthday to DH and your mum. Mum is what I used to call DH's mother. Betsy - Got an email from Yankee magazine today with links for New England recipes. Thought of you. Maybe you'd enjoy looking at it. New England RecipesCan't chat now; will try to get here Tuesday. Waving!

Nancy Happy Birthday to your DH!! I am sure he will love the meal you are making him.
Tasty Happy Birthday to your Mum! I forgot how old she is?? I hope she had an enjoyable day. Too bad she is not closer to you.
I made a lot of calls and got a lot of things handled today. Found out there is an old well that needs to be filled and capped on Dads land. So got that handled and will be taken care. There are three wells there and two are still good. More than I knew before!!Never to old to learn.
Chuck came and got a pkg. of maid rite so he can have sandwiches out of that. We talked about putting cupboards in my kitchen. I know it is Jason's job but he is too busy. I put it out there so will see what happens.
