Good morning friends.
Bet, Ok, I thought you were playing golf. Sounds like a nice fund raiser.
Betsy, What kind of dog does your DS have?
Yesterday I made salmon for dinner with a crème fraiche mixed with stone ground mustard and a side of summer succotash. So there! I changed things up for dinner. Tonight we'll have steak.
Elza, It's going to be hot here today as well. In the high 90's. We are going to the pool.
Just finished reading a book titled Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown. I enjoyed it. I plan on stopping at the library to find another good book.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning.
Looks like it will be a nice day here. Sunny and in the 70's. It's pretty dry here already. Hope our fire season isn't bad.
Dinner will be meatball subs. DS is coming over after court. It's his day off but someone is fighting a ticket that he issued so he has to go to court this morning.
Nancy, DS's dog is a black lab. She is so sweet and cute.
Waving to all.
Betsy

Hello and good morning friends. Today is Nat'l Cherry Tart Day, Nat'l Sushi Day, and International Picnic Day.
DH decided to take the day off from work to get some things done. First he took the truck in for service and was suppose to get it back this evening. Got a call short time ago that some part it needs won't be in until tomorrow. He went back over just now to get his parking tag for work that he will need tomorrow with my car he'll be using. When he returns, I'm having him take my window blind down over the kitchen sink and having him clean that as well as the window and screen.
I am getting ready to move items back into my china cabinet in the dining room as well as back in/on the teak wood cabinets in the living room. They were out due to the painting and must be moved back from the others rooms throughout the house since I got a call that they are coming Thursday to install all of the new window treatments. Lots of hard work moving this and that around, but I shouldn't complain because it will look nice when done.
Tammy before I forget again, thank you for the recipe you posted for me using the cinnamon chips--much appreciated.
Not sure what dinner will be this evening, but thinking maybe something on the grill. Currently 88* with a feel like of 95*, they are forecasting a high of 94* later this afternoon.
Hope to get back here later today. Waving to all!

Good morning. 64 over night and go to 87 today with T storms starting about 2 PM. The humidity is at 100%. The sun is trying to fight its way through the clouds right now. I think I was tired when I posted last night. I read it this morning and think I left out a few words. I was on the front deck all that time. When I get something in my mind no matter what I should be doing, come hell or high water I going to do what I made my mind up to. Yesterday it was try to get the deck picked up and at least half of it set up. Setting up should not have been a big deal once I put away some of the plant stuff and got the plants organized. Not so, I decided I wanted to put the canopy on the Greenhouse frame. I have just the covering from an old cover that I cut the sides off. That went well until I decided I also wanted the shade cloth on it also. The shade cloth I have used in the past goes on a smaller greenhouse but has always worked. However, I couldn't seem to get it on the right way so to the garage and got a different one. Much larger and went on a dome type greenhouse. I did manage to get it on but will see what happens when it rains or the wind blows. Should be interesting. That whole performance only only took 4 hours. I did manage to get the deck set up and cleaned up 9 trays of small geraniums. Still have to to do. Also the watering got done. My neighbor came late afternoon and cut the rotten portion of the legs off the stool so now I can finish that. Annabelle is about to go down for her nap so will get back to work on the deck while she sleeps. Then I have quite a bit to do to prepare for last Lions' meeting until September. It is installation of new officers and honors night. We will be honoring 3 lions tonight.
Have a great day.

Good Afternoon !
I did not write earlier since I had no idea what was going to be cooking around here. I finally decided pork chops sounded good so went to the meat market and got 2 thick cut chops. They are marinating now. I am going to start them off by grilling them on my grill pan then finishing in the oven. I have some ready made mashed sweet potatoes to have with it, and some hominy.
Have not done much today- a load of laundry, and baked gluten free chocolate chip cookies for the conference.
We have had rain showers off and on all day, but it has been very light. The worst of the weather is south of us near Houston.
Remember Ellie, who used to post here? I saw on facebook that it is her birthday.
Better get moving and try to get something else done. I think I have all the ingredients to make some coffee cake muffins, so will probably do that. I did get the snickerdoodle blondies done last night and they are in the freezer. Two down and about 6 to go!

The kids just took off for Atlantic as Kathy has a high school friend who lives there. So it is quiet around here. I am not use to a 6 yr. old great grandson around here. He keeps everyone hopping. My youngest daughter will be here tonight w/DH and grandson. Probably will see son DDIL and twin granddaughters in the morning. We have the service at 10:30 w/visitation at 9:30. I went down and got the maid rites from Mark last night. I took him 2 roaster pans and enough sauce already made up for maid rites. So he had it all cooked and done so picked it up this afternoon and put in fridges in the kitchen at Church.
I will be glad to rest up after all this is over. This 'ol body is not made of what was there years ago. I never got tired but sure do now. Keeping up with all the washing for everyone is a big chore too. We had Dairy Queen today for dinner. Seemed like an easy fix and enjoyed it in a little park in town.
Tasty Happy Birthday to you!!

Started out hot and humid this morning but we've had a couple of rain showers and it has cooled down quite a bit! Would like more rain but I'm not sure we'll get any more.
Your salmon for father's day sounds yummy, Nancy.
Sorry to see that you are still very dry Betsy. Enjoy the visit from DS and his dog.
Lori, you guys have done a lot of work on the house recently. The window treatments will finish it off nicely. Maybe then you can relax for the rest of the summer.
Bet, I hope you have cooled down now too. It really is much more comfortable.
Must be 'pork chop day' Tammy. That's what we were going to have last night but we werestill fairly full from lunch. You're doing lots of baking, some really yummy stuff!
Marlene, thank you for the kind birthday wishes. You have been so busy preparing for tomorrow's service for MIL. I hope it all goes well for you and you can then put you first for a while. Hugs for you and yours.
Tonight we'll have the pork chops but I'm going to cook them inside - altho I don't think we'll get more rain, I'm not tempting fate. So we'll have potatoes and broccoli with them.
Have a good evening 😊

Stouffer's chicken & rice casserole tonight -- I'm not going to do a lot of cooking this week before we go out of town. I just got the refrigerator cleaned out and I don't want to clutter it up again!

Good evening friends. My day was a lot more busier then I had expected it to be. DH washed all the windows and screens on the house outside, while I washed all the windows inside. I would have been okay with just two of the windows, but he said if he was going to do those he might as well keep going and get them all done. I must admit, they look beautiful.
Tasty, I wish I could say we are done with the house and just enjoy the rest of the summer, but far from the case. We still have a lot of painting to do on the inside which, due to DH still working, can only happen on weekends when we have no other activity that must be taken care of. I honestly think it will take us until the end of the year. We have to be done no later then February as then we'd like to begin painting the outside of the house--the sun has really faded the paint over the last five years.
Bet, glad your neighbor was able to help chop off the bad part of the stool legs and you can now finish that. Hope you enjoyed the last of the Lions meetings until Fall.
Betsy, I too hope your fire season will not be a bad one this year. After a two week period of heavy rains, our entire stste was looking good, but aftre just a few days, conditions went down to grave concerns once again.
Nancy, glad you were going with the girls to the pool today to cool off--the heat is on in many states. We hit 95* and our heat index was 105*. While DH was working on the windows I noticed he took the hose to head a few times to help cool his body down.
Tammy, I see you got the blondies baked. How did it go with the white chips and cinnamon oil? Will you use that same method in the future or do you plan to continue looking for the cinnamon chips while out and about in different areas? Everything you bake always sounds so good--glad I can't just pop in for a cup of coffee/tea and a treat as I'd be your best customer having to sample everything. I do remember Ellie--such a nice lady! Gee, I bet both of her boys must be finished with college by now. I hope she's doing well and if you speak to her, please give her my best regards.
(((Marlene)))
Dinner was a BBQ chicken foil pack with zucchini and onions. Added a small red potato and that was our meal.
It's still 90* out this evening; the house is feeling a bit warm so I need to turn down the a/c a degree. Think I'll put up the legs and read a bit.
Goodnight. Lori
