Good morning. 52 and to be a sunny day and in the 80's. I didn't get here yesterday except to read. Was at the golf course a little after 7 and got home around 2. I was beat. I was up a little after 5 and was functioning all day on about 4 hours sleep. When I did get a little motivated after I got home I put the second coat of poly on the stand I got at the garage sale. I am real pleased with the way it turned out. I just moved it inside this morning and got the 2 plants on it. I also started working on the old stool. Put a coat of val oil on the top to see what it was going to look like. It looks OK. Not much else that can be done with it. I am still waiting for someone to cut the bottom of the legs off where the wood has started to rot. I have a lot planned in my mind for what I want to do today but with the heat we shall see. It is suppose to be even worse tomorrow in the 90's so guess I should do something today. My asparagus did arrive so that needs to get in the ground. However, I never did get the weeding done in that bed so need to do that first. Time will tell how long my energy holds out.
Chris, so glad the service for your Mom was so nice yesterday. Definitely gives you closure. Hugs my Lady.
Marlene, Hugs to you also my Friend. You were such a loving DDIL.
Waving to everyone. I need to get moving before it gets too hat. Lots of baskets to get watered.
Have a great day.

Good morning friends.
Bet, I didn't know you played golf. Take a nap today.
Last night I took DH out for Father's Day with the kids. We went to a hibachi place. DH and I both got N.Y. Strip steak, mine with lobster his with shrimp. Both girls got filet mignon with lobster. The chef or whatever you call them was entertaining.
The girls got DH some new shirts for Father's day.
I know we had steak last night but I might make that tonight as well since the portions last night weren't big.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Nancy, I haven't played golf in years. Our Lions Club had their annual father's Day tournament as a fund raiser and I had to work setting up the food wagon as we have coffee and breakfast items starting at 7:30 and then I sold raffle tickets at the food wagon the rest of the day. Of course there there was the tear down of the food wagon and clean up.

Good morning. I've been out of touch for a few days and am trying to catch up. Chris--my thoughts are with you. It sounds as though you had a wonderful service for your mother. It's like the one we had for mine--a few laughs and a few tears but very much what the family needed. I noticed the discussion about cinnamon chips. King Arthur carries cinnamon bits but they are expensive. Someone recommended www.nuts.com to me a few years ago as a good source of nuts and other similar supplies. They carry several different kinds of chips. The cinnamon are $4.99 a lb. Of course, there is shipping but if you order enough the shipping is free. Frankly, I saw a number of things on there that were making my mouth water! LOL! We have several bulk markets run by the Mennonites and Amish. They often carry these specialty chips by the lb. If you have any of these types of places around you, it's worth checking them out. We are looking at heat building here, as well. Tomorrow sounds really nasty with high humidity. Luckily, I won't have to cook Monday. I have our retirees' breakfast in the morning and our Braille groups annual dinner at a really nice restaurant in the evening--air-conditioned, thankfully. After this social whirlwind, I don't have anything else planned for weeks! LOL! Tonight may be macaroni salad with little shrimp. That's one of my go-to's when it is hot. I bought the most lovely strawberries this weekend so a shortcake is on the menu, too. I'm lazy--I like to use the frozen Pillsbury Grands. I can pop two in the countertop oven for myself without heating up the kitchen. Besides allowing me to do just a few at a time, I think they taste much better than the ones in the tube. Yum! Have a good day, everyone. Birdy

Good morning and Happy Father's Day.
It's cloudy here and misty. We had a bit of rain last night. Not much.
I have dh grilling shish kebabs today. Steak, chicken, shrimp and veggies. His fav.
DS is bringing the puppy by to run. We have a good size back yard that is fenced. Good sized for California I should say.
I may do some baking today as well.
Have a great day.

We had steak on the menu today as well -- we went to Logan's since that is DH's favorite place to get steak and it was good. Fortunately we got there before the crowd, too. I have Fat Boys in the freezer for dessert later.
In the 90s here today and supposed to stay that way all week. That kind of heat and humidity leads to thunderstorms and we had a big one last night late that kept me awake. Once the lightning and thunder were done and it started to rain I went right to sleep.
Very happy to have a short week coming up. I'll be off for vacation starting on Friday and I am so ready!

Good afternoon all.
We hit the golf course early this morning when the temperature was really comfortable. Even got out about 20 minutes ahead of our tee time. Play was pretty quick this morning and we got in about noon and the breakfast buffet was about to wrap up but we were lucky and there was still a good selection! I doubt either of us wll want much supper!
By the time our game was finished, it was getting hot and humid. Now we're showing 82 F but it feels like 91. We're indoors in the a/c 😊.
Be careful Bet how much you tackle in the heat!
Sounds like you are having a nice w/e to celebrate Father's day Nancy.
I must have a look in Bulk Barn next time I am there and see if they carry cinnamon chips. Tammy's recipe sounds good. Why is it that everything seems to get bunched together Birdy? Altho, I guess there's NO cooking for you on Monday 👍
Are you in part of California that is so dry Betsy? Supper sounds really good.
Nice to have somebodyelse do the cooking Elza. Hope you don't get more thunderstorms altho maybe you need some rain. Do you have plans for your vacation?
Marlene, I hope you are getting some downtime today. I'm sure you need it.
Glad you have the closure you needed Chris!
Wishing you all a lovely day 😊

Good Afternoon !
It sounds like everyone has had a great day. Ours was nice, too. We went to Huddle House for breakfast, then to church. Lunch today was burgers instead of baked potatoes. Nice for a change. We both came home and took a nap.
I am still full, not sure DH will want to eat again, but I am not cooking. We have snacks like popcorn if one of us gets hungry later.
The rain started while we were in church. I think we got a lot less than what they originally said.
That is a lot of money for cinnamon chips! I will try my method and see what happens. I can look for them in a few months and stock up then. We don't have any type of bulk purchasing place around here.
I saw that Doris posted last night late. Good to hear from her.
I bought a small Keurig form the resale shop when they had half price kitchen items so I am going to loan it to Helen. She wants to try the single cup coffee method. I was able to find Folgers (her favorite) in a dark roast (also her favorite) in the K cups. I told her I would bring it by this afternoon.
Have a good evening!

Vacation plans are a little bit loosey-goosey, Tasty, but that's okay. We are going to our nephew's wedding in NC next weekend. From there we'll go to Baltimore, where our church is planning a mission trip to work with a young couple who are church planters there. The actual mission trip is the following week, but DH is going to shoot some footage to put together a promo video for them. (I am going to be his "grip" which I think means I carry things around. LOL!) In addition to that, we want to see the Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry, and an Orioles game is also on the agenda. If y'all know of any good places to eat or visit, suggestions are welcome!
After that, no firm plans, so we will just see what we feel like doing. Our nephew who plays baseball will be in Binghamton, NY at an away series so we may try to head up there and see him. We'll take our time heading back to SC and see what we can see along the way.

Afternoon, friends! It's hot today, but it's not muggy. Predictions for tomorrow are for it to be almost 100° with high humidity. We'll stay indoors mostly. Will go to the senior center, and, in the early afternoon, I have to take mom to the podiatrist to get her nails cut. I used my Kuhn Rikon push pan to make a ravioli "lasagna" with my roasted veggie sauce. I put the ravs in frozen and warmed everything. Will use toaster oven to finish it tomorrow. Tonight we are having an indoor picnic with things from the freezer. DH found rindless brie at the market, and I pulled a small piece of bleu cheese from the freezer along with a small piece of Mother Goose liverwurst and some Black Forest ham. I have some Italian bread from the freezer, and we'll have some veggie salad. Easy and good to us! Heading up to check on mom and see what she wants for her supper. Will be back tomorrow to chat! Waving!

Elza, the only place I remember eating in Baltimore was the Cheesecake Factory down at the Inner Harbor. I hope you enjoy your trip.
I have not made it over to Helen's yet. I was just thinking I should head over when the rains tarted. It is looking pretty dark and cloudy, so not sure when we'll get a break.

Don't know Baltimore at all so no help from me, I'm afraid. But it sounds like a nice time with the wedding. Sometimes it's good not to be too tied to a plan but take things as they come. Hope you have a lovely time 😊

I enjoyed some tasty baked pork chops and a baked potato for supper. Some good gnawing on those chop bones. Will have a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream after while. Just doing regular Sunday stuff on this difficult holiday. Sweet dreams.

Very tired--just got in the door from Disney. A long day, hot--95* and humid, but it was also a nice day, and extra special having been able to spend part of it with our DD and SIL. Will write more tomorrow. Goodnight friends.
