Good morning.
It's a bit overcast today and we have a small chance of rain due to the storm off of Mexico.
We are going out to dinner tonight so no cooking around here. I am going to prep for tomorrow's bbque that we are having for Father's Day.
Sending Marlene and Chris a hug.
Have a lovely day.

Good Morning!
It's sunny here right now but we will probably get rain later. They have lessened the chances though.
No real plans today except going to the store. I want to get ingredients for the things I am making for the church conference. One recipe calls for cinnamon chips. The store where I looked for them did not have any. Not sure if it's a seasonal thing or not. I used the last half package that I had when I baked cookies for the coffee shop. I will go to Walmart I guess, they have the best selection.
I have been hungry for tuna casserole so that is dinner tonight.
When I dropped off the cookies and pie at the shop yesterday I was just finishing up when Crystal came in. She came to town to pick up a prescription for Helen, she dropped by the shop to get a frappe for herself and Helen. We said good bye then she left but immediately came back in and was almost in tears. She locked her keys in the car. I let her use my phone to call her DH but he never answered. She ended up calling locksmith. He came in about 10 minutes and rescued her.
I was telling my bff Debbie about the place we ate at for our anniversary. Her MIL lives in that town. We want to and Debbie's anniversary is next month, so I told her we need to meet there then. She said OK!
I not dressed yet, so had better get up and get busy. Have a super day!

I'm pretty lazy this morning -- stayed up late last night reading, because I could, so am moving slow today. So far I've had coffee & breakfast in front of the TV, did some online shopping, paid bills, and got the checkbook caught up. Now I need to work on laundry, housecleaning, and practice for church tomorrow.
DH will be home this evening and hopefully I will have everything done by then!
I've been enjoying very much DS#1's posts, pictures, and videos from Vietnam. I'm very thankful that he is able to be there and have such an amazing experience with his friends.
Chris, thinking of you today, as you remember your mom and celebrate her life, and Marlene as well, as you make plans and prepare for DMIL's service. (((hugs))) to you both ~

Funnily enough, I've been hungry for a tuna casserole, too, Tammy. So last nite I made an old fashioned Tuna Casserole with a crushed potato chip topping. It was so good. Those leftovers will be supper tonite also. I'm going to watch some "Datelines" I taped and maybe catch up on my magazines. Enjoy your Saturday nite, friends.

Thinking of you today Chris and hope it is going as planned. I went down and cleaned out MIL clothes. She had so many nice clothes that I had bought her so the Goodwill will have some nice clothes to sell. Pat and her son and grandson came got the lift chair, there was a whole bunch of cookies under her chair. Looks like they don't clean much!! I am so glad to be away from that place and hope I never have to go back there. It is a very new place and looks nice but the help is something else. Like every place I guess.
I have to go see Mom tonight and read over the folder and make sure no mistakes. Marge is going up with me. I need to get things for maid rites sauce and Mark is cooking the hamburger. I will pick it all up Monday at his place and put in fridge at church. Then I need to go to Sam's and get everything else like plates etc.
I made a pan of bars called Butter Pecan Toffee bars and half sheet full of buns and made a dish of ham salad. I will take up for Bible School Program but am not going to go. I will mow my lawn tomorrow morning and go to Sam's later to get things.
Have a great day. It is so hot here staying inside as much as I can.

Good evening friends.
(((Marlene))) and (((Chris)))
Tammy, I had tried years ago to get those cinnamon chips after I had used up my few bags. I went from store to store w/o luck. I finally came to the conclusion that they weren't good sellers, but one store manager said he thought they were seasonal. I next called the company (Hershey's?) and was told that they were indeed seasonal. All Fall and Winter I looked for them and still had no luck. Last November while back in Michigan, DH found them in a grocery store near where he was deer hunting. Bless him, he picked me up 10 bags which I split with my niece who was also looking for them. My plan is for him to look for them again this Fall, but who knows if he will be lucky to find them. If you don't mind sharing your cinnamon chip recipe, I'd love to have it. Thanks.
No cooking for me tonight. Not sure what or where we'll go, but I'm sure we'll find something.
Waving to all! Lori

Afternoon, friends! It's nice today, but we can feel the heat and humidity moving up. May have one more night of sleeping with the windows open; will see later on. Didn't do much today; cleaning angel came...he reported that my vacuum power nozzle was not working right. Early next week, I'll have to bring it to the vacuum cleaner "hospital". Marlene and Chris - Thinking of you both and sending hugs. Lori - Love that meatloaf; I don't use the sauce...not a fan of ketchup or sugar in savory dishes, but I love the way it comes out so moist. I just got my "easy" renewal for BJ's. It's up to $110 a year. Tammy & Helen - I love tuna noodle, but DH has "banned" it along with tuna macaroni salad because he had it so often growing up. He will eat tuna salad, and that's what we are having next Friday. Elza - So nice that DS is having a great time in Vietnam; I know you are looking forward to some good coffee!!! Betsy - Enjoy your dinner out and the BBQ tomorrow. DH is cooking pork chops on the grill tonight. We'll have them with roasted potatoes and steamed corn off the cob. Waving to all!

Good evening friends. Thank you all for thinking of me today. We had a good service for my Mom. I think she would have been pleased. My DH did a good job as she had asked him to do the service years ago. She had picked out the song she wanted played at her grave side. Beyond the Rainbows End by Daniel O'Donnell. That is the only time I cried. She loved his music. Played it all the time.
I feel good that it is a good closure!
Marlene- I am thinking of you and holding you close as you go through this for your DMIL now. Love and Hugs
Chris

Snickerdoodle Blondies *****************************************************

Preheat oven to 350F. Spray down an 8x8-inch pan. Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar; beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
Combine the flour mixture and the wet mixture and mix until well-blended. Stir in the cinnamon chips. Spread the thick batter evenly in the prepared pan. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a little bowl and evenly sprinkle the mixture over the top of the batter.
Bake 25 minutes or until surface springs back when gently pressed. Cool slightly. While still warm, cut into bars with a sharp knife.

I have a cherry pie in the oven right now. It's a belated birthday gift to Helen.
Here's the recipe Lori which I am sure came off the bulletin board but not sure who posted it originally. I made them for the coffee shop not long ago. I am trying to pick recipes that I can make ahead and freeze. I had an idea for the missing cinnamon chips. A long time ago you used to be able to buy mint chocolate chips. They are discontinued but the company said to put plain chocolate chips in a bag, add a few drops of mint extract and toss. Voila! Mint chocolate chips. So, I bought white chips and will toss them with some cinnamon extract and see what happens.
The dogs want out so I need to run. Have a good evening!

Marlene, I am sorry to learn of your MIL’s passing were so good to both of your inlaws. What a kind heart you have. You really rose to taking care of them both. You are a strong, kind Iowa woman. I enjoy reading your posts. We lived up in Iowa City & Coralville a long time ago. Have spent many years now outside of Kansas City.

Marlene, I extend my condolences to you and your family on the passing of your dear MIL. She and DFIL were the two luckiest people on the planet to have had "You" in their lives. You have been kind, loving and thoughtful of them for many years. I am happy for you that the nursing home bit is finally over.....I, like you don't even want to walk into one. I hope that once the service is over you can finally have some down time. There will still be the legal issues to deal with but you have had plenty of experience with that. Bless you and take care of yourself.
Chris, hugs to you.....I know it made your heart happy to have had the service for your DMom today. I am sure that DH did a fine job and your DMom will now be at peace.
I did a little looking on line for the cinnamon chips....Amazon has some but the want an arm and a leg for them.....$5 for 10 oz.
Tammy, congrats to you and Dave on your anniversary....glad you were able to have a lovely dinner to celebrate.
A wave from Colorado to everyone else.
Cheers, Doris
