Good morning friends.
Sunny and heading into the 80's today.
Yesterday was my last day of work. I head back late August.
Today is youngest DD end of year class party. The class parents have tote bags for each of the kids. The kids will have whoever they want to sign their bags and then they will tie dye them. After that there will be an outdoor scavenger hunt. I'm going to volunteer.
I think tonight I'll make buffalo wings and homemade mac and cheese.
Ann, We had the same offer here for the free tacos at Taco Bell. Aside from my 2 kids eating tacos here, I had 3 others joining us. No room in the car to take them all to Taco Bell though.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Last night I got a call if I wanted see MIL better come quick. She was not responding at the supper table and they got her to bed and I got there she looked at me strange and said I am going to die. She did not and after an hour Hospice got there and said sounds like she a heart attack and she said her chest hurts. I stayed for 3 hours and then came home. they were getting her ready for bed and gave her morphine under her tongue and boasting up the anxiety pills. It is not in Gods plan yet and I keep telling her that. I can not believe we have to have Hospice that far away?? I will talk to who is in charge today.
So got my house work done and headed to shower and will get to going and see what the day brings today. I just don't want her to have a stroke!

Good morning.
Nancy, thank you for starting us. Enjoy your time off. It's so nice not having to rush around. I hope you have a great summer.
The fridge is arriving today. My window is 10-2. I have a few more things to take out of it. Mostly condiments.
I think DIL is coming by after she is off of work with the dog to hang out with us. The pup likes our dogs and being able to run in the yard.
Did I mention we have a mouse? I ran into the little fellow outside the garage a few days ago. DH caught it. Wasn't pretty I hear. Then he caught his friend. That left a crime scene I've been told. Luckily, in the garage. I am no fan of mice to say the least. Having the weather stripping replaced today where they chewed through.
Not sure what dinner will be. Having shopped much as I didn't wanted to transfer it all to the other fridge in the garage. I must get some groceries and restock.
Waving to all. Betsy

Marlene--I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL. It's a blessing that you are able to be there for her.
Chris--hoping that you've been able to get that reaction to the bug bite under control. I've never had it as bad as you but I'm sensitive to deerflies--rapid swelling and itching at the site. My principal once sent me home to take benedryl when I had a reaction from a bite the day before--he insisted I call him later in the day to check in. It must have been the sight of my left hand and fingers looking like a bunch of sausages. I can't imagine how much worse it must be to get hives. Take care.
Chris and Bet--did either of you get hit by those strong storms that passed across NY in the evening yesterday? We were lucky--the worst passed north and south of us but I saw the weather map. It wasn't a pretty sight. Right now, it feels downright cold after the warm weather earlier. We probably won't get out of the 60's today. At least we had some rain--it was getting pretty dry.
I'm hoping to get some local strawberries today. It would be lovely to have a shortcake. It depends on how good they look. Hoping for some asparagus, too.
I read the story about dropping the 5-lb. bag of flour with interest. This story isn't about a kitchen oops but a bunch of fluff-headed teenagers. My friend was away from home when her kids (old enough to know better) and their friends decided to have a flour fight in the kitchen! They figured they'd just clean it up before she got home. Well . . . they used water. Flour + Water = Glue! What a mess. The kids were working on getting rid of it for a week--with Mom growling at them the whole time! LOL! Now, she can laugh about it but it wasn't very funny at the time. Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning friends My arm is much improved. Still red but the swelling is much batter. Does not itch so much. Thankfully.
Nancy- Will be nice to be home with the girls for the summer! Have a good summer off!
Marlene- So sorry to hear about your MIL. Hugs to you. Birdy- We got a big storm late last night but no damage. Heavy rain and some thunder and lightening. No real big winds. Betsy- You can keep the mice! Yuk! I hate them in my house. Always had them when I was a kid and my brothers would catch them and terrorize me and my sister with them! Bad Brothers!BAD! Hope you have a fantastic day! Chris

Good morning. 56 and overcast and that isn't going to change much during the day. There is also a brisk wind blowing that is making it down right nasty out there. It will be in the 40's again tonight. This is not unusual weather around the new moon in June. The clouds are welcome as if it was clear at night we have had frost with the new moon in June. Not a pleasant thought. I am not sure what I did yesterday but do know it wasn't much. By the time I got home from running errands yesterday morning it was after 11. Not the way I like to start my work day. I did manage to get 3 more hanging baskets put together and had quite a bit of watering to do. It was overcast all day and threatening rain but that didn't happen until about 9 last night just after I got home from my meeting. About 1 this morning we had some high winds but from what I can see this morning everything looks intact. Don't think I will get much done outside today except maybe work in the greenhouse. It will be a little warmer in there even though it is completely opened up but a little more protected from the wind. I have tons of computer work to get done for the Lions club as June is the end of our year. Lots of reports to finish up before the end of the month.
Marlene, will be thinking of you. You certainly have had your hard times lately. Take a deep breath and take care of yourself.
Chris, glad to hear the reaction is looking and feeling better today.
Nancy, nice that you are off and can spend more time with the girls for the summer.
Birdy, you are right it isn't very nice outside today.
Have a great day.

Hello ! Chris, glad the bug bite is responding to meds.
Hugs, Marlene. I know it isn't easy. My MIL said last April, to the nurse, to not give her the meds since she was going to die that night. She didn't die. You are right-strokes are horrible things. I will say a prayer for you all.
Enjoy the summer Nancy!
I went over to play cards last night but I was late and no one was there. It turns out Mary was sick and Sue showed up but left since no was there at that point, so I came home. I did get to play cards with DDIL and Ds in Oklahoma. We played hand and foot and they taught me a new game - Golf-but you play it with cards.
It's nice but hot weather today. We may get some rain over the weekend. Sunday especially.
Lunch will be hot dogs and tonight we are going out for our anniversary. It's our 49th today. We are going to a town 45 minutes away and will eat at a steakhouse. I made our reservations. I've heard it's great.
I spent some time last night looking over recipes. A lady at church asked me to bake some snacks for a conference they are having at our church next week. I did it also in Feb. I can do it all ahead and just drop it off. I also picked out a cookie recipe and a quick no bake cheesecake for the coffee shop. Just need to decide what to take to church Sunday.
That means going to the store sometime this afternoon.
Have a nice day friends!

Just got home from care center and picking up few groceries. MIL did not have any breakfast, still in bed and just looked at me. She is not talking now. I don't know if she is doped up with meds or not. Nurses were at a meeting. The one I talked was there all night and did not look at me when I asked what kind of night she had. She is not saying nothing at all is what she said. She would not be working for me!! If you can not be kind you do not belong there. She was that way once before too. I will wait when the nurse from Hospice calls me. She is to come this afternoon.
I bought a whole Top Butt and will cut it into steaks here soon. Need to change my clothes first. Sometime today I need to eat a good meal!! Have not been good to self for two days so better today.
Chris hope you are feeling better today!! What caused all the hives? Just curious.

Marlene, please take care of yourself. Hugs to you as you deal with MIL. As for nurses who don't want to answer your questions - that is part of their job, to deal with their patients' families.
Enjoy your summer Nancy. Do you have any exciting plans?
Betsy, I'm with you on the mice - it's totally silly but they scare the living daylights out of me. Enjoy the new fridge.
Fresh berries are just coming here too Birdy. They have so much more flavour than anything from the store. We had heavy rain in town last night where I was but hubby said there was none at home. Pretty windy today but I think it will be dry.
Glad you're feeling better today, Chris.
Bet, I think you get a lot more done than yougive yourself credit for.
Happy anniversary, Tammy. Enjoy your meal.
Hubby will be golfing this evening so it is just me for supper - not sure what I'll have but there's no shortage of stuff in the fridge.
Have a great day.

Afternoon, friends! Humidity vanished with the wind early this morning...yea! That's a little yea, though...temps will be up in the 90's by Monday! C'est la vie! Clouds have moved in, and we may have a shower. The Brussels sprouts Greek salad was delicious last night. So were the waffles. The meatloaf was a tad dry; I baked it too long. I will use the leftovers in sauce. Marlene - Hugs to you and prayers for your MIL. You are so right; that nurse should not be there if she cannot answer honest questions from loved ones civilly. Never heard of "Top Butt"; had to look it up. Last day for a "live" Chew today. Tomorrow's will be taped this afternoon. All 'n all, I liked the show, but I didn't always like their recipes...too many fried ones for my taste. I got lots of salad recipes. Bet & Birdy - glad the storms missed you. Chris - Wow on that bug bite. I've never had something that bad, but I did get a spider bite once that was gross. Tammy - Hope you and Dave have a fabulous anniversary dinner!!! Congrats! Nancy - Have a great and relaxing summer vacation. That idea about the bags for DD is neat! We used to do tee shirts. Betsy - Enjoy your new fridge! I have a few things that need to be purged, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. Tonight we are having grilled chicken breast and more of the roasted veggies I made last weekend. Enjoy the evening! Waving!
