I've been getting on here late the last couple days so I figured I'd start out early today!
I'm planning on a good grocery shop this afternoon after I get off, and also getting my first dose of the new shingles vaccine. DH got it earlier this week and in addition to his arm being painful and swollen, he had a headache for a day or so. Doesn't sound fun, but then, neither does shingles! I really want to avoid that if I can.
Not sure about dinner. I have Barber frozen chicken breasts here, or we'll see what looks good at Publix.
Have a good day, everybody ~

Good Morning !
Thanks Elza for starting us early today. We are just getting ready to walk out the door and head back to Oklahoma.
Marlene, the couple that I played cards with last night-new volunteers- had mentioned that they served in Iowa for awhile. They are Methodist ministers. I asked if they knew where Harlan was and they said they had lived there! They ministered at the Methodist church town and also at the Monroe Chapel. They loved it there.
Waving to all. DH is ready to go so I need to shut down the computer. I'll check in later tonight.

Good morning. 48 again this morning. It was sunny early but now is clouding up again. It is suppose to be in the 60's today but time will tell. Again a slow day yesterday. Besides cleaning up that one stand and bringing the stool into dry out the only other thing I did was fix a rocking chair for Annabelle. Since it was my rocking chair it is over 70 years old and has lasted through 8 kids. However, the top wood got broken somewhere along the was between Addison and Natalie. When Natalie had out grown it I tore the back apart and glued that but didn't put the upholstery back on it as the foam in the back needed replacing. When DGD was little DH and I have upholstered it but the foam had deteriorated over the past 27 years. I replaced the foam yesterday and got it all put back together for Annabelle. Not real sure what I will do today. I think the garden is still too wet to till. However the lawn really needs to be mowed and I need to weed the asparagus bed since I have roots coming next week to put in to replace the ones I have lost over the years. I think I will start in the greenhouse this morning getting more baskets done and prepare one greenhouse to come down by this weekend. There is a lot more that needs to be done so will see how the enery level holds out. I do need to get to town sometime today for the mail and some groceries.
The sandwich last night was great but didn't think so much of the soup. Had never had black beans before but kept tasting them while they were cooking with just an onion and a garlic clove and thought they tasted pretty good. However when I finished making the soup it had a sweet taste or something to it that I didn't enjoy. The only seasoning in it was cumin and coriander.
Elza, good luck with shopping after work. Hope you don't have the same reaction as DH from the shot.
Tammy, save travels and Hugs. Will be thinking of you as you go through some trying time in the next 6 days.
Tonight's dinner will be stuffed green pepper and l/o potato salad. I have the stuffing for the pepper leftover. Will freeze what is left after tonight.
Have a great day.
Bet

Good morning friends.
I have been busy this week training for the states HMIS program I will now have to be doing for my new job. Been staring at a computer screen for 4 days and do not want to when I get off work. LOL Almost done so I will have my license for it by next Friday I hope. Lots of technical data entry and reports and stuff! I think I am cross eyed!
I have been reading up so I have seen what has been happening and keeping up with the bread recipes! Thank You!
Elza- Good luck on your shot. Let us know what you feel after, okay? I am a big chicken about shots and have a round coming up in October. My asthma dictates a number of shots every now and then. I fortify myself with HC! LOL
Tammy- Safe travels and I will hold you and Dave close in my heart through all this. Having just been through it I can certainly understand. We just have to do the burial but my brother does not want to do it. I think he just is not ready to let go.
Bet- I sure hope it is warmer tomorrow! LOL Should be in the 70's for Lake George. We plan to go over early so will be in my leathers for sure. I love the rocking chair! I have mine from when I was 4 so it is 61 years old. My son used it and now when kids come over I let them sit in it. It is a red wooden one. My grandparents gave it to me one Christmas.
Hope everyone has a great day! I am in my favorite Deli town for the next to the last time. Will be my last Thursday next week and then I turn it over to the new case manager! She lives in this town so she can go home for her lunch. LOL DAng!
Chris (will sneak down her if she can!)

Tammy that is unreal meeting someone who lived in Harlan. It is a small world!! The Monroe Church is just east of me and a lady left them $300,000 to the little church. So the two guys who done the work on mine did the work over there last year. They built on a new kitchen and I have not seen it since it was done but everyone says it is beautiful. There are not many members over there. Do you know the people's name? Jason made the cupboards and they are Cherry Wood. Safe travels to you and Dave hope everything goes like it should.
I just met the Auctioneer who did my farm sale and he will sell FIL farm. Date set is August 18th @9:00 a.m. He said should take about 1/2 hr. to do. Will stop in between for a break then continue. They would take possession in March of 2019. I have to still take things out of attic in the house. So will have time when it is cooler.
Going to get ready to go to funeral this afternoon. Will stop and see MIL after the funeral.
Chris good luck on getting your new license. When we get older doing all the testing is no fun anymore. My DGD has been testing and studying for so long and is 29 yrs. old now. She loves what she is doing.
I still have my Mother's little chair. It used to be a rocker but her older brother and her got into fight over it and the rockers broke and Grandpa put it back together but put the arms on backwards!! I have it in my spare bedroom. It is a pretty chair the back has design in it. There were 15 children in the family and three passed away early in life.

Hello all. I am back from DD's house after a much needed change of scenery. It was very nice to be pampered. It was very hot in Dallas and also here in Paradise, apparently. I think the rainy season is about to begin here, though. You all know I love my afternoon rain, especially with a bit of thunder in the background. I'm having Bachelor Chicken, dressing, and green beans for supper.
In reading today's post I see Tammy and Dave are headed to Oklahoma. I think that may mean Dave's mom has passed away. If so, I am so sorry, Tammy and Dave for your loss. Marlene also said she is headed to a funeral so someone dear to her has also passed. Please accept my condolences, Marlene. I will read back posts to get up to date on everyone's news.
Funnily enough, I need a rest from my traveling. It's not as much fun as it used to be. 8-)

Good afternoon friends. Today is one of my favorite food holidays--National Chocolate Ice Cream Day--glad I have none in the house, as it's so darn hot out there, I'd probably eat it all!
Last night we had some excitement in our neighborhood. Around 9 a bobcat was spotted walking down one of the streets. The lady that saw it called the police and after they came and saw it too, they got on their bullhorns, went up and down the streets, asking people to stay indoors if they did not need to be outside. A 2nd sighting was seen about 90 minutes later on another street. This time instead of the bullhorn, they sent out a neighborhood-wide phone call altering residents. When DH went to work this morning at 5:30, I wanted to go for a bike ride, but changed my mind and just stayed with the stationary bike. Just a short time ago, I flagged down a police car as it came into the subdivision asking it they trapped it. No, and was told to be extra careful while outside during the daylight hours and if possible, avoid the evening when you can't see anything. No problem, I'll gladly stay in.
It is a year today that my bachelor brother passed away. Sure miss him.
I did go over to the Mall for a few hours today looking for a new bathing suit. Not my favorite job, but luckily I was able to find something. The Mall was dead, nobody inside. All the large anchor stores have gone except Penney's--I popped my head in and although they look like they have everything marked down on sale, I saw nobody shopping inside. Kind of sad; I guess on-line shopping rules for most, but I'm old-schooled and just like to see and touch before I buy. I'd not be surprised if in time they close the Mall, plow it down and put up apartments or condos, neither of which we are in need of.
DH is on his way home, he has a doctor appointment later this afternoon for a check-up. After he comes back home I'll make dinner. Trying a new herb chicken tortellini I picked up at BJ's a few weeks ago, and I'll make a salad to have with it.
I'll try to get back here later, but if not, wishing each of you a relaxing night.
Lori

Afternoon! Started out sunny and fairly warm; now the clouds have moved in again. Our local farm stand opened today...slim pickings, but was happy to see it back in business. Cooked a meatloaf today with lamb, ground turkey, and Penzey's Greek seasoning. Easy peasy, and it turned out pretty good...a bit dense, but I plan on serving it on top of spanakopita waffles in a few days. Also found some peppers and mushrooms on the sale table so made some roasted veggies. Cod is on sale so got some. May roast it (nice thick cod loins, btw) on top of the veggies. Will see what DH says. Lori - Yes, I would love to have that recipe! Elza - For the potato salad...store bought given to me. Preheat oven to 425°. Place potato salad in a skillet large enough where you can spread it out loosely. Roast for 30 minutes stirring every 10 minutes or until nice and brown. I added small diced onion to the mix, and it cooked for 35-40 minutes. Helen - Good to see you! Chris - You go, girl!! LOL I had to look up HMIS! Interesting. Tammy - What a coincidence about the minister! Time to get the roasted veggies into the fridge. Have a great evening! Waving!

Well, I got the shot about 5:00 this afternoon and my arm was sore right away. It's a little swollen around the injection site and my whole arm, from the shoulder on down, feels achy. But it's not bad. I'll take some ibuprofen later. According to the pharmacist, that is the main reaction, is a sore arm for several days.

Hi everyone We had a great lunch with Mary in Oklahoma City. The sandwich was not quite as tasty as it used to be back in the old location. that building was probably built around 1960!
We got really poured on about 30 minutes after we crossed into Oklahoma, and the exact same thing happened on our last trip.
We made it here to Ponca City. The wo DSIL's, came and one BIL. A Sunday school class from church provided supper. We had hash brown casserole, meatloaf, and a chicken/broccoli/rice casserole. Also homemade apple pie and some peach cobbler.
Marlene, the couples name is Steve and Jan Clinton. There were a few more details that I posted quite late last night about them. I told him we ate pork tenderloin sandwiches at Darell's Place and he did not know of it.
DSIL left us some blueberry muffins for breakfast. We plan on going to Taco Stop for lunch. Another Sunday school class is providing a sandwich meal tomorrow evening.
Lori, I am like you and I want to touch before I buy.
Good luck on the test Chris.
Waving to all! Sleep well!
