Good morning. A nice cool down this morning after yesterday. It was 59 overnight but the humidity is still here. We did get rain late yesterday afternoon and during the night. We got 6/10 of an inch which we really needed.
I didn't get what I wanted to get done yesterday. Wanted to till the big vegetable garden but it was way to hot. First thing I did finally get the house vacuumed through. Then I went to the greenhouse. Had to move a lot of my tomato plants as they had outgrown the rack they were on. The darn things are 2' tall above their pots. Also had to put more stakes in them to keep them from bending and breaking. Also had a lot of watering to do. Moved what seedlings that were left in the house out to the greenhouse. Many have never been transplanted and at this point they may just get dumped.
We are suppose to see the sun today but it is way too wet to till the garden but am hoping to the about 3 dozen bell peppers in the ground and a couple of dozen all together of broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. That be is ready to plant. Until it warms up a little will work in the greenhouses getting more baskets done and transplant the MW geraniums into their pots ready for their summer homes. Have quite a bit of deadheading to do also.
Tammy and Marlene, am thinking of each of you with the family loses that are eminent. It is never easy but I guess it is a part of life we have to accept.
Chris, if I were you with the bed bugs I think I would be itching for days.
Lori, I wonder if BJ's does away with membership it their prices will go up. Hope those summer storms just stay out to sea.
Waving to all here.
Have a great day.
Bet

Chris sounds like you need to be back by water and waves to sleep!! Maybe you could buy a small one to have by your side of bed that sounds likes waves?? I have thought about it but with the CPAP probably would not hear it. I sure heard that little Red thing wanting out when it rained. He kept meowing and I got up and put him in litter box twice but not what he wanted, he wanted outside so I slammed my door shut to bedroom!! I was mean!! He came other way around and found me at 7 so then I got up. Better than 4:00!! We did get 2 1/2 " of rain last night. I did unplug my computer before going to bed. The lawn has leaves on it from the grove so must have had wind. I did so much running yesterday I was tired last night.
Bet it sounds like you have so much work in gardening. I am sure you like to do it all. I would never get rid of it all. I have 3 tomato plants waiting to be put in the ground. Need to get it done too. One is just the little ones.
Hoping to get the smoker going to smoke some hind qtrs. of chicken today. So need to get up and get to doing things. I cut up a small cantaloupe this morning so had some w/ bagel and strawberry cream cheese on it. Of course a cup of coffee.
Everyone have a nice week-end!!

Good Morning! I went to check the posts late yesterday evening and realized I never posted! Just a busy day. I worked at the resale shop first thing. She had me down for working all day and she never told me. I knew I was covering for the cashier for 2 weeks, but did not know that she planned on me covering her all of June and July . She left me off early since I already had plans to pick up Helen. Helen and I went to the new Huddle House for lunch. I had the chef salad, and it was wonderful. Helen got breakfast. I think she liked it. She never really said. After that we went by the grocery store, then went next door to Lowes. She was tired so did not go in-she had me run inside and get her a few more of the sweet potato vines. She loves those. I got home about 3, and so put together the chicken and rice casserole. On Thursday evening I ended up making a hamburger, macaroni & cheese casserole. We also had roasted beets from the garden.
There is a work day and also a car wash fund raiser going on at church today. When I get myself ready I plan on going by there to help work at the clothing pantry for a couple of hours.
DH is going to try his new smoker today. I found some beef ribs, so he is going to try smoking those. Smoked beef ribs is one of our favorite things to get at Mueller's BBQ place over in Taylor. Taylor is about 45 minutes from DS's house in Austin. They only season the meat with black pepper.
We do not have a BJ's around here, I don't think. We have Sam's and Costco. I don't have a membership to either.
Have a nice time today Betsy! What fun!
Waving to all, make it a great day!

Good morning -- just finishing up my coffee. Got the bills paid, so laundry and housecleaning are next.
Ann, I'm liking this tweak on the tea brack, although I don't know if I like it better than my usual: raisins, dates, prunes, and dried apricot.
Chris, bed bugs! yikes! I think that calls for more HC.
Marlene, we had storms yesterday afternoon late -- right at closing time at the bank. I had a customer in the drive through and that wind came up so hard, I told her to just stay under there as long as she wanted! By the time we got finished up and left, it had calmed down, thank goodness.
Bet, glad you have cooler temps today. DH is planning to finally get out and mow the lawn today after a couple weeks of rainy weather. We are supposed to have sunny, drier weather for the next week.
Tammy, you had a lot going on yesterday! Let us know how the ribs turn out.
Betsy, I know y'all will have fun at the baby shower. Congrats on DD's honors too. Lots of good things going on -- enjoy every one!
We have leftovers from the roast I cooked on Thursday so I see sandwiches on the menu today! Nothing better than a roast beef sandwich with mustard and dill pickles on light bread.

Hello!
I seem to have spent most of the morning grocery shopping and then getting everything put away where it belongs, refilling canisters that were empty etc. Spent around $200 and that included very little meat. What I did find on the sale rack was some sausage stuffed mushrooms for half price. We'll (read hubby) bbq them tonight along with some salad.
Came across a couple of recipes the last few days that I want to try. One is for an upside down rhubarb cake and the other is a puff pastry case, with a chicken and broccoli filling (similar to a quiche). Whipping cream was on sale this week too so, while we have lots of rhubarb, I'll make some rhubarb ice cream 😉
The temperature is much nicer today, going up to 72F so will get some outside stuff done later I hope. Likely we will get rain tomorrow - finally.
Sounds like everyone is busy. Must try your tweak on the tea brack, Elza. Love citrus! Have never used the prunes called for in the original - I usually substitute cranberries which I normally have in the cupboard.
Betsy - some fun times ahead for your family - enjoy!
Waving to all 🙋

Just want to let my friends here know that DMIL passed this morning. I was headed in to church to work, and DH had already left to make a trip to Lowe's, when he got the call from his sister. We knew she couldn't last very long in the state she was in, so I feel sad, but happy that she is no longer in pain, and that she is now reunited with loved ones. I appreciate the kind thoughts and the loving prayers. You all are very special people.
DH says we probably won't head back to Oklahoma until Monday or even Tuesday, so I will be around a few more days.
I have not taken anything to the coffee shop this week so just sent a text to Jack. He says they need brownies, tiramisu and some mini loaves. I will head over to the store soon and get things for those items plus stuff for the church pot luck. I decided to take broccoli salad plus a Boston cream pie poke cake.
Will check in later today.

(((Tammy and Dave))), The pain of loss is something none of us can escape. Please accept my condolences. Praying for both of you to get through this time with peace that comes from the knowledge knowing MIL is now with God and out of pain.

You are in my prayers Tammy and Dave. That is all we can wish for that they are not hurting anymore and they are with their loved ones. Has to be really hard you not being there too. There will be lots to do with house and all. Take your time and get there safely when you go.
I just made a batch of Potato Salad and will put the hindquarters of Chicken on smoker around 2:00. That will be supper and I will take some over to Chuck and Linda.

Chris, like you I was up early and unable to sleep. Got two hours in on the stationary bike while reading my library book.
Then went to Sprouts because they had mangoes on sale for 72 hours and I just HAD to have some. Picked up 6 of them and I'll be licking my lips while they finish ripening on the kitchen counter. Once home I made 16 breakfast sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches for the freezer, froze the leftover spaghetti and meatballs for a meal down the road, and mixed up chocolate chip cookie dough.
DH got the trim painted in the dining room/living room, went out to fix his weed wacker, and has just now fired up the lawn mower.
I'm going back into the kitchen to mix up a brownie mix that I have and with that, as well as the chocolate chip cookie dough, I will try making Brookies. If I like how they turn out, I want to place some in a can and send them up to FIL for Father's Day.
Going to make burgers and fries for dinner, cucumber salad, and finish off the corn on the cob.
Waving to all! Lori

Thanks so much everyone. The immediate family is now talking about having her funeral on the 11th, so we probably won't go up there until next weekend. They are hoping to give everyone who lives out of state time to plan a trip if they want to come to her service.
We stopped by Subway and got a sandwich for lunch, then I bought my groceries. The brownies are baking now.
DH went to check on using the smoker for the first time and read that he needs to heat it for 2 hours before placing food inside! We will be having a late supper! That's ok though. I hope the ribs turn out as I want them to.

How long of a drive is it to where your MIL will laid to rest, Tammy? Nice that there will be time for those who want to come from afar.
Your ribs sound delicious even if your meal will be delayed somewhat. Enjoy!
