June already! The year is flying by. We're hoping for a little less rain and a little more sun today --
I made a tea brack last night and tried adding some different dried fruits this time. I used 1 cup each of golden raisins, dried cranberries, and chopped dates, and 1/2 cup of chopped candied orange peel. Having a slice for breakfast this morning, and I like the citrus flavor.
Hugs & prayers for Marlene and Tammy and your DMILs. Sometimes you get to the point where all you can ask is, "Lord, have mercy." You know that we love you both and are thinking of you.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Also Tammy you are Dave are in my prayers also. It is a tough time to go through but know it is for the best. MIL has wanted to go for so long and now that her DH is gone she has been ready. I can only wish them peace and comfort.
Will take back the roasters to Mark and will stop and sign the papers at the home for Hospice. Will try to get a pedicure and go to the bank and some other errands done. Need to mow lawn this afternoon when I get back home. I got up real early this morning as Red slept outside last night so now he is by my chair demanding something, either food or back outside!! Worse than a little child!! Adoption papers might be made soon!!!!

Good morning all.
Tammy and Marlene, sending you huge hugs and prayers. So hard to go these things in life.
Last night was just lovely. We knew dd was getting an award for Valedictorian but she also got a 4 year achievement award from the Science Dept. We are so thrilled for her. Such an honor to be chosen by the entire dept.
Tonight we have CSF banquet. She is a lifetime seal bearer and she had to select a teacher to attend to with her. She selected her 10th grade English honors teacher. And her teacher is thrilled. She also mentioned this teacher in an article written about her and it was published yesterday. The teacher texted me last night in tears saying she is touched. I was stunned and proud by the faculty members that came up to me last night with lovely words about our Camille. Nice moments.
Dinner will be something quick before we leave. Not sure what.
I need to get gas and head take youngest dd to school. Both girls have graduation practice.
Waving to all and sending hugs to all that need one.
Betsy

Afternoon, friends! It's very humid and cloudy today; it's just started to sprinkle. We could use more than a sprinkle, and I know other places in the country are inundated. I brought my mom to the audiologist at noon today. We found out that her hearing loss has progressed greatly. It's age related, unfortunately. Her 94 year old brain is just not processing the words that are spoken to her. The tech was going to lend her an updated new pair, but when mom finally understood the expense ($5600), she told her to "forget it". The tech did tell her that she would probably not experience much improvement anyway. Between 'sittin', I'm making a corn, blueberry & feta salad with a white balsamic vinaigrette for our salad tonight....leftover spud salad and grilled fresh kielbasa. Betsy - That is so WONDERFUL about your DD!!! Enjoy tonight! Thinking of you both, Tammy & Marlene. Time to get back to making the salad! Enjoy the rest of the day into the evening! Waving! Elza - That tea brack change sounds really good. When I last made it, I put in some diced dried apricot. Bet the citrus and apricot would also be good!

Late afternoon here and the temp is 82F (at least) and feels like 97 according to the weather network. We have just got home from golfing and it sure was hot out there.
Betsy - what an honour for your daughter! You and hubby must be very proud parents. Hope both daughters enjoy their graduations.
Tammy and Marlene, hugs to you both. Hope each MIL can be kept comfortable.
At this stage I have no idea what we will eat tonight, but, I do know we will find something.

I was gone most of the day running errands and did end up doing something for myself!! I got a pedicure!! He done a nice job for me. They have two guys and he even made me a nail for the right big toe. The girls won't and say they will come off. They do but I super glue them back on so don't look like a freak!! I gave him a good tip. Was coming home about 1:30 and met Chuck on our corner and he had been looking for me to take him to town to pick up Linda's van. She was in Omaha w/DD at doctors app. So told him to go home and I would come and pick him up. So I came home and brought in groceries and took him to Harlan now came back home and I am tired of all the running. The place where his van was they closed at 2:00 today so I hurried and got him to town ! He probably won't ride with me again!!
I did not eat much at all today so will fix a sandwich as I bought more thin buns which I love for sandwiches. Not so much bread. Also got some smoked pork loin slices and did buy 10# of chicken hind quarters for .88 #. Plan to put on the smoker. They are so good on there!!
Chris you do not know what you are in for!! That boy is something else!! Three times last night went opposite direction for me so he slept outside, was waiting this morning by the door!!

Good evening friends. Another busy day.
I was up and at Publix this morning by 7:30...sure seems like everything has shot up in price. Did have to stop in the bakery section and get a donut to bring home as a treat for DH on National Donut Day.
Next stop was at the window treatment store for when they opened at 10. Dropped them off a nice big fat check for half and will pay the remainder when they are installed in a few weeks.
In between, I did a few items of ironing and washed the bedding.
Today is the opening day of our Atlantic Hurricane season. After last year, there isn't a generator on any store shelf. Thank goodness, DH and I are pretty well set, especially since the noon forecast mentioned ever so softly that the future cast does see something we might have to watch closely about 1 1/2 weeks down the road. Normally things don't get jumping around here until August or September, but then again, things aren't very normal any more when I look at all these weather stories.
Spent the afternoon volunteering at a Weather Expo here in town. I had a super easy job--handing out the programs with the schedule for the afternoon. Once it began, I got to sit down in the back, near the doors in the event somebody came in late, and just listen to all the speakers. A few guests did trickle in late but not many, so easy for me, where the people handing out free gift bags were working extra hard most of the time.
On the way home I shopped at BJ's. Sadly, I wasn't able to buy any meat as something had happened to the coolers/counters and there wasn't any to be found. Ann, I know you shop at BJ's--did you heard anything about the store opening up to the public and doing away with membership? I didn't, but DH claims he heard something about that. I was disappointed today with my visit--besides being unable to get no meat, I found a lot of the shelves empty and the selection was very limited. Whatever the probably was, hope it will be better next time. I've already mentioned to DH that this might be out last go around with BJ's.
I never got to make the hamburgers I was planning for dinner. When I got home DH had Chick-Fil-A soup and salad waiting
Need to go turn on the dishwasher and then fold some clothes. Until tomorrow, take care. Waving to all.

We finally had chicken burgers with freshly picked asparagus and some salad. Rhubarb for dessert.
It is so nice to be able to walk over to the garden and pick something for supper 😉
