Good morning friends and a thank you to our veterans past and present for their service.
Lori, That is sad about the cougar. It was nice of your and your DH to push him off to the side. I didn't realize that you had cougars out and about by you.
Betsy, How is future DDIL feeling these days?
The girls and I had a successful shopping trip on Saturday. I still need to get myself some shorts so we might stop at Kohls today.
Our pool opened on Saturday but we were out shopping most of the day. It would've been a perfect pool day as it was very hot. Yesterday it was raining and in the 60's. Today will be 75* and scattered showers on and off.
For dinner last night we had roast beef, potato pancakes, string beans and biscuits. Tonight we are not having a traditional Memorial Day bbq. I made a big batch of meatballs and sausage.
Enjoy your day.
Nancy

Hey to everybody. We just got back home, driving through rain almost all of the way. Thanks, Alberto.
I went back and read the last few days -- I'm hungry, reading about all the cooking and baking!
We had a wonderful weekend with DH's family, and with DS#2 who drove down from NC. On Saturday we spent the day at Edisto Beach with DH's brother & his family at their house there. We got to see our niece & her husband and of course, the star of the day, our great-niece Magnolia. She is 18 months old and was happy to see everybody -- wanted everyone to pick her up and gave lots of hugs. She talks constantly but so far the only recognizable words are "Dada" and "no"! Anyway, it was a great time to visit, get out on the beach, sit in rocking chairs on the porch, and eat BBQ.
Yesterday they came over to DMIL's house after church for lunch, and then DH's sister & her husband came by to visit as well. Last night DMIL opened up her cedar chest and we all enjoyed looking through old photos and keepsakes.
Well, I have laundry going while DH naps and then later we will meet my sister & DBIL for dinner. Tomorrow will be an extra busy day -- coming back after a holiday always is, plus we will be short one person, but that means it will go by fast!

Other than the rain for the drive home, sounds like a great weekend Elza. Haven't been to Edisto Beach for quite a few years.
Good to see you popping in Helen.
Your dinner yesterday has my mouth watering Nancy. Today's meal sounds good too.
We have the same kind of heat and humidity here Marlene. Not my favourite 😔 but there's nothing I can do about it. Except stay indoors! There's so much still to be done outside but it will have to wait. I did go out early and picked about 12 lb of rhubarb. I canned 8 pints and froze the rest to can another day.
Think hubby is going to BBQ sausages later to go with salad. Simple 😊
Have a great day.

Good evening friends.
Today we had a few quick passing showers, but the big problem has been the wind. Currently they are 24 mph gusting to 55 mph. DH was fighting the wind while cutting the lawn and wanted to pull weeds afterwards, but finally settled just to have the lawn looking nice. I finished putting items back in place after the painting in dining room/living room and then washed windows inside and out for those two rooms.
DH just called--I can't chat as dinner is ready. Most of dinner was done on the grill--steaks, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob. Rounding it out is baked beans I pulled from the freezer and a cucumber salad.
Waving to all. Lori

Hey we are back home also. We got up fairly early and got the house all spic and span and laundry washed up that we dirtied. We drove by the nursing home for quick goodbye - I don't think she knew we were even there. We did not plan on staying long, plus the dogs were waiting in the car, so we spent about 5 minutes there is all because the nurse came in to change her clothes and clean her up. She doesn't eat, she only drinks if it is dropped in her mouth with a straw, so I don't forsee her lasting long at all. She seems at times to be agitated and tries to call out, so they medicate her to keep her calm. If she passes soon it will be a blessing.
We stopped in Oklahoma City and met our friend for lunch. the drive in we wanted to go to was closed today so we went to a new place. Mary and I split the chicken fried steak sandwich. It was plenty since I did not want to get filled up too much. We stopped in Dallas area and I ate a mid afternoon meal at my favorite Mexican place. DH was not hungry so waited in the car with the dogs!
I still have a lot to do to get all unpacked, so I am going to make this short. Sleep well everyone!
