Good morning friends. Unable to sleep-so much on my mind. Thought I'd turn the lights on here, start the coffee, put the water on for tea, and open the doors.
Today is National Strawberries and Cream Day. I wouldn't mind some strawberry shortcake this morning. Our strawberry growing season, which seemed earlier then normal, is long gone now and stores are only carrying berries from California.
Tasty, what a lovely variety you and hubby grow on your property--I had no idea just how much you did grow. How very rewarding it must feel after your hard work to go out the door and pick from your garden items to enjoy for dinner or put up into the freezer for later. DH and I have tried numerous times over the years to grow a few things (tomatoes, peppers, beans, green onions, pineapple, dates), but between the heat and bugs, it is difficult. Right now we have a small lemon tree and two date trees in our yard and on my back lanai I have parsley, basil, another date tree, and a small olive tree.
Weather people said our rainy season kicked in early this year. It's been raining each day for over a week, at times very heavy. Wildfires are over with for now No flooding in my area, but DD on the other side has some local street flooding in her area.
DH will be up shortly for work. After he leaves I think I'll do some ironing and when the sun comes up, maybe head out for a bike ride. Haven't given dinner much thought as of yet--I need to keep chipping away at the freezer, so I'll pull something out of there early to defrost and make up.
Will be back later. Waving to all and wishing each of you a beautiful day.

Good morning. Hope you take time for a nap or ar at least relax at some point today Lori.
I would absolutely love to have my own lemon tree!! But with our climate that is not possible. I did try one, one year, keeping it inside once our hot weather was done but it didn't survive.
It is a glorious morning here - blue skies and sunshine, with a promise of a lovely day.
That is good as it is Victoria Day, celebrated in every province in Canada and the unofficial start of summer. As we live in a tourist area, we really saw a difference in traffic on Saturday and it will stay like that until after Labour Day.
No supper plans yet but likely we will bbq. Last night, hubby cooked burgers out there. The first bbq of the year is always so good! l think maybe chicken this evening.
Have a wonderful day 😉o

Did not get here yesterday was a busy day. Went to church and out to Corn Crib to eat and Dollar Store. Then lady came out to get rhubarb and she locked her car when she got out. So had to call a guy to open it. What a time she had 2 keys and both were in the car. She must of hit the lock when she got out. It was her boyfriends Cadillac so the guy had a time unlocking it but thankful he did. She got a huge tubful of rhubarb.
I have to go get full blood work this morning so have been fasting. Would like to have a cup of coffee but will have to wait quite awhile for that. Will get my pills ready for the week.
It is to be cloudy then get in 70's this afternoon. We did not get a lot of moisture yesterday. You never can believe the weather man. It seems they don't hit it on the spot all the time. Just glad we did not get the nasty weather.
What a time w/MIL Lori!! Is a long way for your DH to travel up there all the time. Especially when there is a daughter right there that needs to step up to the plate. Taking his vacation time is not right. He has a life too.
Take care everyone and have a nice day.

Good morning to Lori and Tasty and all who will stop by later on ~
Lori, did you enjoy the Andy Hardy movie? I remember watching them as a kid and just loved them. So funny!
Tasty, Happy Victoria Day! Perfect time to be grilling. You are right, that first cookout is so good.
I have a chicken pot pie thawing for tonight's dinner -- it was the last one in the freezer so before too long I'll need to make more.
ETA hello to Marlene! We were posting at the same time.

Good morning friends.
Lori- I think your MIL and mine and Betsy's are all related. I hope DH does not have to go up there. I had strawberry shortcake last night.
Tasty- We have a lot of fruit trees on our property too. Happy Victoria Day to you.
Marlene- I have locked my keys in the car by accident once before . So embarrassing. Hope you can get that coffee soon! I will think of you as I am drinking my HC!
Elza-I have not made a pot pie in a while. WE have a bakery near here that makes some great ones so every now and then I go buy one of theirs. I hope you have a great day!
Well time to get a move on here and get to work. Type at you all later! LOL

Good morning.
It's raining here today and will be all day. I need to go to the office this morning to get a few projects done. The next 2.5 weeks are going to be so busy.
Lori, so sorry you were awake early.
Dinner will be fried rice, veggie, egg rolls and salad. DS and his fiancee are coming over to eat dinner with us.
I guess I better get moving.
Have a great day.

I knew I had a appt. On June2 with my Dr. and they called me Friday to remind me I had blood work this morning. So I reluctantly went and now was blood work at 7:10 and doctor an hour later!! This automatic calling you is something else!!I got the cream I needed as I'm making a Creamy Parmesan Chicken Broccoli Casserole. I was going to use evaporated milk which does work but will use the cream now. Also some other items got in my cart and had $33 when I needed cream!! I did a Burger King breakfast was not good! Cold and crusty.
Now will change clothes and get my casserole made now. I did cook broccoli and macaroni before so just have to make the creamy sauce to add.

Hello once again friends.
Tasty, no nap for me but I'm not moving fast today. I got my ironing done, went for a bike ride, and did my exercises. Other then making dinner and watching my hockey game tonight, that about all I'm doing. Happy Victoria Day to you and hubby.
Elza, yes I loved the Andy Hardy movie. We recorded quite a few so we plan to watch more in the coming weeks when there's nothing else we want to watch on tv.
Marlene, how did your casserole turn out? Sounds good. I know what you're talking about spending more then you expected in the grocery store--it doesn't take long or much effort for the bill to go up. I forgot several items on Saturday when I went shopping and I refuse to go back to Publix until Friday knowing darn well it will cost me more then those two items.
Chris, yes, my MIL is something else. You and Elza have me hungry for a chicken pot pie, so I think I'll have to make one soon.
Betsy, will you be throwing a graduation party for your DD? If so, what are you planning to serve?
After a dry and quite morning, we are seeing a ton of heavy rain this afternoon. Heard that by the weekend there may be something brewing in the gulf--hurricane season officially begins on June 1st. Forecasters announced that where DD lives, across the state, they've had over 11" of rain this month (normal for this month is just over 2 1/2") and more to come yet.
For dinner I've decided on turkey-pesto meatballs, black bean and corn quinoa, and I have some marinated cucumbers that I made up yesterday. Need to get that going.

Afternoon, friends! Banner day here! I've been like the Ever Ready Bunny today! Went to the walk fit then the grocery store. Unloaded and unpacked. Did my mom's laundry. Cooked a half turkey breast in my stovetop pressure cooker. Made a chopped vegetable salad, and cleaned up. Feels so good to sit down and have a glass of iced coffee! The turkey breast came out great...moist and tender. I followed the directions in Miss Vickie's cookbook for the half breast. The only thing I did differently was to release the pressure naturally both times...after 20 minutes and after 5 minutes more when the breast needed a bit more time to get to 160°. Lori - How nasty of your MIL. No wonder you can't sleep; your poor DH is being taken advantage of. Chris - We have a great place to get "homemade" pot pies, too. Marlene - I locked my keys in my car with the motor running!!! I had to call DH to come with the extra key; he was going hunting, and I got him just before he left...whew!!! I felt so foolish! Betsy - Enjoy your supper and company! Tasty - I'm jealous...DH hasn't moved the grill from the garage yet!!! Maybe I'll get my wish by Saturday for a steak on the grill if the weather cooperates. Tonight we are having meatballs and sauce with spaghetti squash and a chopped salad. Hope everyone has a great evening. Waving!

Good Day friends! And happy Victoria Day to Tasty and family.
Thanks Lori, for starting us off today. Sorry about the lack of sleep. I have been blessed with a sweet MIL. Unfortunately she seems to be declining quickly. DSIL went to see her yesterday and Karyn said she did not think mom even knew her. She has had small strokes in the past, and she may have had another one, from appearances. We plan on going up to Oklahoma the last weekend of June for a chorale reunion.
I am planning on using tomatoes from the garden and making a tomato pie for supper. We don't need a lot since we ate over at the center today. They had meatloaf again and DH knew I liked their meatloaf, so he told them I was coming. Even though I knew it was meatloaf day, it seems like we just had it 2 weeks ago, so was going to skip.
We got a full refund on the Instant Pot that got sent to Virginia by mistake. I think I will have DH order another one and hope it arrives. Surely that would not happen twice. I would really love to use up those gift cards. They said if it does show up at some point we will not have to pay for it. How strange if I ended up with two of them!
We got rain yesterday afternoon, and again this afternoon. We can use it.
I baked brownies and also some angel food cupcakes today. After lunch I took those into the coffee shop. They need a couple other things so will try to bake a couple more things.
Today is zooming by. I am trying to get things done that have been on my to do list. I have gotten a few of those things done. They are showing a movie tonight at the center. It is LaLa Land, so I may go over for that.
Waving to all!
