Good morning friends.
The sun has finally made an appearance after a week of rain! So refreshing to see it!
I think I'm the only one here who didn't care for the wedding. While her dress was pretty, it was too plain IMO. I did like her veil though.
Birdy, I took liked the boy who was grinning behind the bride.
We ended up ordering Chinese food on Friday. I had plenty of leftovers in the fridge for last nights dinner.
Going grocery shopping soon.
Tammy, I've got to try chicken fried steak one of these days.
Enjoy your day.

Good afternoon friends.
DH and son went fishing and I went shopping for some plants. I now have burgers for them to grill when they get home. I went by a new farm stand and she had ramps and fiddleheads. Had to turn right around and get me some!
I am doing laundry and some (very little) house cleaning.
Hope you all have a great day.
Chris

We had a really good day yesterday -- DS#2 came down in the afternoon and last night we all went to Greenville to see James Taylor in concert. DS had asked a couple weeks ago if we wanted to go with him (he'd planned originally to see him in NC but then saw that he had a show the next night in SC, with better ticket prices!) and we said "sure!" It was a great show -- he still has an amazing voice and did a great job. DS is going back to NC this evening but right now he & DH are at the local airshow. The Snowbirds are performing and there are various other aircraft that will be demonstrating and on display. It was supposed to be a 2-day event but was cancelled yesterday due to the possibility of lightning and heavy storms. We enjoyed a brunch buffet after church so I don't feel like I will need anything else to eat for quite a while! I'm looking forward to the 2nd installment of "Little Women" on Masterpiece tonight. I really enjoyed the first one last Sunday. Lori, what a mess with your MIL. I hope that your FIL can get the care he needs without it being delayed by family drama. I want my sons to know that you take care of your mama, and your DSIL is not teaching her kids that lesson. She may regret it later. Just a difficult situation all around. I'm glad you are able to keep yourself out of it as much as possible, but I know it's hard for your DH and hard for you to see him have to deal with it. Waving to everybody -- enjoy your day.

Hope your guys enjoy the snowbirds - they are excellent! We have seen them flying over Parliament Hill on July 1st, as Canada celebrates its birthday, several times as we used to live in Ottawa for many years.
We are both working outside today. The weather is great for that so we're trying to get as much done as we can. Supper will probably be burgers or some leftovers from the freezer 🙄
Have a great day!

Happy Sunday, everyone! All day we've been alternating between showers and sun; it's quite humid for this time of the year. Lazy day, here...! Mom and I had our usual Sunday breakfast. I portioned out the seafood chowder for us, friends, and the freezer. Watched the fly over states on Smithsonian and took a nap!!! Tonight we are finishing the pizza from Aldi along with a chopped salad. I'm watching DDD...one restaurant owner just made cashew cream...made it look good enough for me to try it!!! She also made tacos with cactus and jack fruit made into chorizo...interesting!!! Waving!

Good Afternoon ! The kids must have worn me out, I just got up from napping for a couple hours. They were so good and no trouble at all. They did not leave until this morning.
Glad the sun came out for you Nancy.
Elza, how nice that DS came to visit. I'd love to see a James Taylor concert.
It sounds like all are having a good weekend. I imagine we will head out and find something to eat at 5, as soon as this tv show is over.
We watched a movie with the kids last night Hoot. I have had it a long time but never seen it. It was very good. I only made mac and cheese for supper since we were still fairly full from the ice cream we ate earlier in the afternoon. Now I have a package of about 7 hamburgers to freeze!
Need to go and make a glass of iced tea. Have a nice evening and you all sleep well tonight.
Edited to add this recipe. I made this to take to church and it is delicious! Rave reviews.
PECAN COBBLER 6 T. butter 1 c. pecans (I left them whole, but you could chop) 1 1/2 c. self rising flour 1 1/2 c. sugar 2/3 c. milk 1 t. vanilla 11/2 c. packed light brown sugar 1 1/2 c. hot water
Preheat oven to 350*. Add butter to a 9 x 13 baking dish. Melt in the oven. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, milk and vanilla. Stir to mix but do not overbeat. pour batter over the nuts. Do not stir! Sprinkle brown sugar over. Do not stir. Pour hot water over that. Do Not Stir! Bake 30-35 minutes.

Good evening friends.
It's been a long day...MIL woke us up this morning complaining about the $$$ it is costing her for care for FIL (really not a dime as they have good insurance). The latest---She told us that she plans to bring him home where he can just rest at home for the next 8 weeks until he sees the doctor again. She told DH that he MUST come home and move the family room furnishing into the dinning room and dinning room furniture into the family room. She also told DH he needs to take the door off a frame so the wheel chair fits through and then, when FIL is healed and walking once more, DH needs to return north and put the house back together as it should be. DH blew his fuse and told her to keep FIL in rehab, but she said no ($ she claims that she could use for lunches with her friends, hair appointments, etc.--she's so mean-it's always "me, me, me."). Then DH wanted to know why his sister, her husband and their son that live in town can't move the items rather then him drive north for two days. MIL said, "no, you're better at things like that, you must come take care of it." There is a meeting MIL has scheduled for Tuesday with the social worker where FIL is staying and we'll know then when we'll be heading north. DH is biting his tongue so as not to start WW3, but he told me that he's fed up with his mother and the rest of the family that does nothing. In the mean time, I already spoke to my DB and he said I was more then welcome to stay with him and his family whenever I was coming north. Thank goodness.
My Bolts won game 5 last night and now it's back to Washington DC for game 6 tomorrow night. Praying they win again and then it's off to bring Stanley home again!
Tammy, thanks for sharing the recipe. How nice that you were able to have the grandkids over.
Chris, family fun cooking together with your son--enjoy.
Elza, glad you and DH were able to meet up with DS#2 and enjoy the James Taylor concert last night. Safe travels back to NC for him this evening.
Nancy, it's been raining everyday for over a week now, but no complaints here. Today has been dark and gloomy--every time DH went to do something outside the rain began to fall. It took him several tries but he finally got the lawn cut and ready for pick-up tomorrow.
Ann, everyone deserves a lazy day here and there, esp. if the weather wasn't up to par.
Tasty, you and DH have been working your tails off in the yard, but it must look quite nice and you'll be enjoying it as the warmer days approach. What veggies/fruits are you planning to have this year?
Betsy, thanks for starting us off today. I hope you enjoyed your grilled chicken. With all the rain we had today, I didn't even bother to attempt anything on the grill. Instead I made dinner today in the oven-- Garlic-Thyme Chicken with cauliflower, potatoes, and olives, fresh mangoes for dessert.
DH recorded some old Andy Hardy (Mickey Rooney with Judy Garland) movies this past week. Haven't seen those movies since I was a kid. Going to go enjoy one before hopping into bed. Talk to you tomorrow.

((((Lori))) Like I've said before we have the same MIL. I am glad you can stay with your brother if you have to go north. My blood pressure rises when I read about your in law issues.
We grilled and then my high school dd that is 18 can vote now so we cast our ballots for the CA. election. She is so proud to cast her first votes.
I cleaned a bit and dds and I went to the store.
Off to relax a bit.
Have a great night.

Lori, we have raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries, rhubarb and blackcurrants in the garden, as well as very old apple trees that don't give much fruit and some newer plum, peach, cherry and apple trees.
For veggies, we plant just a little of a few things - potatoes, onions, cabbage, garlic, asparagus, beets, carrots, parsnips, tomatoes and peppers. We live in an area where a lot of fruits and veggies are grown and it is very easy to pick up some really nice produce at the farm stores. So altho we have the space to grow a lot, we're not after that much work but it is nice to go into the garden, pick what we want for supper and bring it indoors to cook.
