Good morning. 31 overnight and partly cloudy for the day and maybe 60. It was cool yesterday and the wind was done right cold so I spent some time in the greenhouses. Everything had to be watered. I managed to get 10 baskets put together. I put the heat on in both greenhouses last night but for some reason one got down to 37 and when I went out to check when I got up the heater was cold. Not sure if I had it set to low or what but turned it up and it was working fine. We are suppose to be 36 tonight so will run the heaters tonight also. It isn't going to be a very nice day for working weeding today so am thinking I will get the boxes for the back deck put together today and that deck and the garage will be done with the baskets I got done yesterday. The annuals I started from seed this year didn't do very well so not sure just what I am going to do for a few planters. May just try some direct sow. I have enough geramiums to plant the whole yard and probably at least one neighbors. DGD said she wanted to come up and help me tomorrow so we should be able to finish up a bed in the fairy garden area that I am reclaiming and get that ready to plant and also get some plants along the dry creek bed. A lot didn't make the winter but I think that is because I got them in too late last year and they didn't get a good start. I lost a lot of perennials in the back driveway bed and also in the 2 perennial nurseries so looks like I will be starting a lot of perennials this summer.
Chris, good luck to your son in getting the job at the ER. Glad you had a nice day with him and his GF in Rutland.
Elza, a treat once in a while is good for all of us.
Betsy, I am sure your DD is getting excited about graduation. I am sure there will also be a little anxiety at times.
Marlene, hope you are able to stop and take a breather today. Thinking of you and family.
Have a great day.

Good Morning!
Bet, your temps seem so cold to me! We are running close to 90 every day here.
The kids made it here fine. I think we are going to meet them at a bakery place in town and get a light breakfast. Then we plan to come back here and the girls will help me with the centerpiece. then we go to an early lunch around 11.
I got the cookies baked last night, and got up early to get them filled. The brownies are thawing, and the nut butter cups are chilling.
I am going to make some berry bruschetta, but will do that after we return from lunch. I think they will leave from lunch and head up to Nacogdoches. I am sending all the clothes that I bought for the DGc's.
Marlene, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Waving to everyone out there! Have a nice day.
Just remembered about the pot luck at church tomorrow. I had planned on making a pasta salad but have not gotten groceries for it yet, so I may run by the store while we are in town.
Not sure about supper. Maybe I can pick up something while shopping.

Bet, it's hard for me to imagine below-freezing temperatures in May! It's already 72* here and supposed to get up to 90* this afternoon. DH is at graduation -- they should be lining up to march in right now -- and he was not looking forward to sitting outside for several hours in a black cap and gown. Fortunately, he could wear a short-sleeved shirt underneath! :)
I am just getting going this morning -- laundry is already underway and I'm getting ready to start on changing sheets and cleaning bathrooms. I want to get cleaning done today, and this evening I'm baking a batch of Blueberry Cream Muffins to take to our Sunday School class tomorrow.
Marlene, I know you have a lot to keep up with today, but you know that we are thinking of you and praying for you. What a blessing you are to your MIL and all of your family.
Tammy, lots of yummy stuff at your place today! I hope y'all have a wonderful time with your family there.
DH is heading down to spend the weekend with his mom after he gets finished up at school today, so I'm thinking about getting a pizza for my dinner tonight.

Hello all.
It's raining here so may need to change our bbque plans for tomorrow. No cooking today. Prom night is here.
Youngest dd had a sleepover last night and they have been up since 6 am. Long day ahead.
My hs dd came home with her yearbook and of course we knew she is Valedictorian but she surprised us with the superlative section where she is also voted class clown. Her prom date came over last night with his "promprosal". They are still all going as a group of friends but he wants be her real date. It's so cute.
I made some yummy cookies yesterday from TOH. I will get the recipe and post it.
Marlene, I am so sorry. I know how are hard this is. Rest in peace to Gaylord and lots of hugs to you.
Elaine, you asked me how many students in DD's class. She has 632 students in her class. Very proud of her to lead the class of so many students.
Happy Saturday, friends.

Good afternoon friends. I didn't sleep well and have been up since 2:30. After I went for a very early bike ride, I went over to Publix. Didn't need much, just a few items on the shelves and the rest was all produce. Tons of meat in the freezer--I have banned DH from buying any more, even if "it's a great sale Lori!"
After I packed away everything, I started the bedding, and then put on a crock pot of Barley and Sausage Soup--kitchen sure smell good. Hoping I can make a meal or two yet today for the coming week--the last full week of school. Right now I'm working four of the days, but the way my phone has been ringing off the hook requesting me for days I'm already working, I might just get that fifth day in.
I believe dinner will be the leftover pork chops and mashed cauliflower from earlier this week, along side a small spinach salad.
(((Marlene)))
Need to get moving here. Have a super Saturday.

Good morning.
MARLENE- sorry about your fil.
BETSY- you have every right to be proud of your daughter. That is a lot of kids and to be the top student.
Today was my last morning to do doughnuts until fall. Yay. It is cool and windy right now so wish we could load the truck today, but DH says no Louie needs his cat post. That is the 1st thing that goes in since it is so big. We are leaving Monday morning. We will be there Wednesday night. Not looking forward to it as it was 39° there yesterday afternoon. It was 100 here.
I am playing hand and foot this afternoon and more then likely working on the puzzle at clubhouse. We finished another one yesterday.
Have a great day.ELAINE

Went to Council Bluffs today and got Mom 2 sets of clothes and pair of shoes. So hope the clothes fit her. She has lost so much weight and want her to look nice. She has always been a good dresser but is not anymore as the girls dress her in the home. One set has a dress jacket and she might just pick that to wear she is always cold. I did buy some things at Sam's for the dinner too for Tuesday.
So now washing my bedding and both beds will be clean so DD can have her choice. She will probably take mine as it is Queen!
I am tired after running so will get things in dryer and sit in my recliner for awhile! Mark and Kim are taking me out for supper tonight. Told neighbor I might have a drink she says I earned two, I said then they would probably have to carry me out!!!

Hi again!
The tea is now over and done. It went well, and we had about 20 there. I took a tray over and was working on filling a bowl with sour cream, when one lady walks in and mentioned the tea started at 2:00. I was planning on 2:30, I wqas just certain it was 2:30. Well no....it did indeed start at 2:00. Oh my! Panic set in but luckily the lady offered to help. She finished the sour cream and filled the tray with cookies. The activity director put the strawberries on toothpicks and stuck them in the centerpiece-which turned out beautiful BTW. My DIL made it with help from DGD. I got the brownies out of the fridge and one of the kitchen girls helped me get those cut with the flower shaped cookie cutter. They turned out very cute. I got so many compliments on all the food. I liked the nut butter cups, a good tasting recipe, but they need to stay chilled as they softened up so much after being out of the fridge, they were hard to eat. I ran home and changed clothes and got back over there. Then I helped clean up.
We had a good lunch, very filling so no cooking supper here tonight. We brought home DGS leftover pizza if DH wants anything. DH and I split a combo plate, so we had chicken parm, fettuccini alfredo, and lasagna.
I did not make it to the store earlier so after a short rest I will go there and then come home and make pasta salad.
I have some picking up to do and will need to vacuum again s there is glitter form the tulle all over the floor!

Afternoon! It's been a cloudy and showery day today with temps in the 40's. I'll take that over hot and humid any day! Spent the morning making stuff for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. Tonight we are having broiled steak kabobs that I marinated in soy, bourbon, garlic, oil, and herbs. DH is in charge of those now! I made some roasted asparagus. Finally, I made a corn, zucchini, onion, and jalapeno potato salad with bleu cheese, bacon, and sherry vinaigrette. I found the recipe online and made changes to suit the leftover ingredients I had from making a Jacques Pepin pasta dish. I moved on to cutting up 3 pounds of boneless chicken breast to make chicken tarragon. Tomorrow I will have just a few things to do. We got an offer from Fios about getting a week of free "on demand" movies. Think we'll try "demanding" The Post. Hope it works; we are not rocket scientists with manipulating "clickers"!!! Marlene - Hugs to you! All that you are doing is just wonderfully touching. Lori - Anything with barley makes me say "yum"! Your dinner sounds great; I love leftovers, and I know I'll have lots this week!!! Tammy - All of your food sounds delicious!
Bet - Good luck with the fairy garden. I friend on Cookin' Seniors has made a whimsical one on her property. Elza - Hope DH didn't suffer too much at the outdoor graduation. Betsy - Congrats to your DD; hope she has a great time at the prom! Hope everyone has a great evening. Time to get Duchess to wake up from her slumber here and move upstairs! Waving!!!

Ann, DH got a spot in the shade! He was very happy about that.
Hope you get to see The Post. I thought it was one of the best movies of last year, and was disappointed that it didn't get more Oscar love.
Tammy, sounds like your treats were beautiful as well as delicious. Well done!
Marlene, I'm glad your friends are taking you out tonight. You deserve it. Don't get too tipsy -- you don't want to be hungover on Mother's Day! LOL
Betsy, what a fun time for your DD. You should be very proud of her. Sounds like she has worked hard and now is enjoying the results. We told our guys to enjoy all those senior year activities because it is not the same in college.
Lori, your dinner sounds really good. I have gotten a lot done at home here today so I'm looking forward to a quiet relaxing day tomorrow. I have a new book just waiting to be read so I think that will be a good way to spend my Mother's Day afternoon.
Elaine, hope you enjoy your day tomorrow and y'all have a safe trip on Monday.
Well, muffins are ready so let me get them out of the oven. Smells good in here!

Lori, do you make your Sausage Barley soup from a recipe or wing it? Give my husband a bowl and a spoon and he is happy so would love it if you would share your soup recipe.

Hello To All, Today seems to have been a very busy time for everyone.
Marlene, (((Hugs to you))).....I am amazed at how much you have accomplished in two days. Take a break this evening and enjoy dinner with your dear friends. Have a drink or two since you won't be driving and try to get some rest.
Tammy, you too, have been burning the candle at both ends. Sounds like the tea went off beautifully and food was outstanding and luckily you had some good helpers to assist you. How is little Mabel.....I think she had B'Day #1 not long ago. Nice that DS and family could come for a short visit...they live about 40 miles from where I grew up....Henderson. I saw that DH's heart issues are stable....very good news. Maybe after church tomorrow you can take a break...
Betsy, Hope DD and friends have a fun and safe prom...good that they are going as a group. I am sure that you and DH are so very proud of her...she has done so well.
Elaine, be safe....three hard days of driving is tough....hopefully the weather will stay good. Years ago when we lived in Tulsa we came to Colorado in early June....we were dressed in shorts and flip flops and when we got to our cabin in Green Mountain Falls just West of COS we had to unload in 8 inches of snow. The jackets were all on the bottom.
Elza, Enjoy your down time tomorrow.
Ann, Sounds, like your dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow will be wonderful.
Lori, Soup sounds wonderful and I like it any day of the year.
Bet, You too are so very busy, how is little Annibell? Do you sell some of the plants that you grow? Glad that you have found a car that suits your needs, just sorry that you had an accident.
Cheers, Doris
