Good morning -- I'm ready for my 2nd cup of coffee, then it's off to the gym. Sunny and high 80s today -- I'm loving it!
No ideas right now for dinner but I'll think of something. I should get off early this afternoon and I plan to do a little teeny bit of shopping at a consignment boutique I like. It's right next to Publix so I'll probably stop there as well!
Have a great day, everybody ~
(LOL When my guys were in elementary school, each morning the principal led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed immediately by him saying "Have a great day!" A lot of kids, mine included, couldn't say the Pledge without adding that to it!)

Good morning everyone ~ It is a pretty day out there. I need to go get a pedicure so will call when they open up. Also making a new bar later today and will do the mowing when I get home from town. As rain is in the forecast until they take it out again!! One never knows on these forecasts anymore. Was to rain Tues. nothing and Wed. nothing so will see if later tonight?? The bar I am making is a Danish Letter Bar. I have had the recipe and love it and have had the things to make it so today is the day. Mark came out and gave him the asparagus that John gave me and sample of the soup for his dinner today. He was looking for mushrooms but did not find any yet.
I am doing my 2 loads of wash before I go to town. Then that will be done. Will do my bedding later.
Chris and Elza have a good day along with the rest of you gals. Hope everyone is having a great beautiful day like we are having.

Good morning.
Looks like we may get a shower here in So. Ca. today. Very gloomy out there right now.
Dinner will be cheeseburgers and fries in the air fryer. I will make a salad. Is anyone buying romaine lettuce? I have not and wonder when it will be safe again.
Elza, sounds like you have a nice day ahead. How nice you get off early.
Marlene, I got a pedi yesterday. Best day. LOL Also, got a gel mani this time. I haven't had a Danish Letter Bar. Bet it will be yummy.
Chris, enjoy your time off tomorrow.
Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Good Morning! I hope everyone enjoys their day.
Have fun in the kitchen Marlene. I hope you really enjoy your new binoculars!
Chris, sounds like a fun day for you too. Don't get into any trouble!
I nope you find a great buy at the shop today Elza. Yesterday I wore a top that I got free from our clothing pantry, and I got so many compliments on it.
I was hoping for a manicure today Betsy, but not sure I will have time.
I will have to drive DH up to Lufkin for his doctor appointment. He is having a procedure and will have some anesthetic so he can't drive. He has to fast before it too. Maybe we can grab lunch afterwards.
Not sure how he will be feeling later on. We have plans to pick up Helen and go back to Lufkin (about a 45 minute drive), and go out to eat at Outback for my birthday dinner. Hope he will be feeling up to it.
I planned on making a topiary tree filled with fresh strawberries, but could not find the bare tree at Hobby Lobby. I looked online but can't get it here on time to use it Saturday. I made a trip to Walmart last night after playing cards, and got a round Styrofoam wreath form. I am going to wrap it in tulle, and put thee berries on toothpicks around it. In the center I am going to put a shallow glass bowl and float some fresh flowers. In the very center of that is a smaller glass dish with a sour cream dip for the berries. I hope it works out like I want. DDIL and DGD will be here Saturday morning so hopefully they will help me. This will be for the ladies tea on Saturday afternoon.
Lisa took the kittens to the vet yesterday and got the shots. Then she took the little girl home with her. We are going to let the boy stay with mo a little longer. He is still really shy and we are not sure he is eating the wet food that she puts out.
Must go and get ready for my day. Have a wonderful day friends!

Well I had a meatball sub in my favorite Deli here in my favorite Deli town! I only have 4 more weeks here and my new position starts where I will have to give up coming here to the new case manager! Well the position has started but I am not doing all of it yet as the guy I am replacing does not leave until June 15. Chris

Good afternoon, friends! After a foggy & misty start, it is now another wonderful spring day! I did the shopping for our Mother's Day/DH's birthday menu. Will prep stuff tomorrow. Tonight we are having turkey & gravy from the freezer, green beans, and stuffing balls. For the stuffing balls, I deviated from the recipe that was posted on TOH. I've never used eggs in my stuffing so I omitted them. I used Vermont Bakery soft multi-grain bread that I cut up then pulsed in the processor into coarse crumbs. In place of the egg, I used 1 ounce of Marsala wine and 2/3 cup water to which I added 2 chicken broth packets. I didn't use salt, but did put in some of my savory pepper blend that has tri-color peppercorns, coriander and cardamom. While forming the balls, I compacted each as I rounded them. Baked them in the skillet that I used to cook the veggies (still had a bit of butter]. They stayed together nicely. I could see using this recipe to make stuffing waffles, too. Tammy - Hope DH feels OK after his procedure so you can celebrate your birthday. Betsy - I've been buying romaine from CA; our Market Basket has a sign saying what they are selling is not from the Yuma, AZ area. The other green that I am enjoying is escarole. I read somewhere that it's considered Italian lettuce. Once cleaned and spun dry, it keeps really well in a produce bag. Dinner sounds great. Elaine - Those temps are too high for me to enjoy. Marlene - That's a super present from your DD!!! Elza - I use a chocolate glaze on my BCP. Never had it any other way. The recipe I'm using just makes one round cake that I will split and fill with the custard then put glaze on the top. I need to move around some. Think I'll make the stuffed mushrooms now. Enjoy the rest of the day! Waving!

Betsy, I am not buying any romaine lettuce now and it is my favorite....so far a lot of people every where are seriously ill, some w/kidney failure and so far there is one death and that is in Ca.
Tammy, hope DH's procedure is uneventful and he feels up to celebrating....
Elaine, how long does it take you to button up the Yuma property? Have a fun an safe trip north.....does Louie travel well?
I am going to bunco tonight...DGS's are on their own for dinner...there are l/o's, they can cook or go out.
Cheers, Doris

Anne--if you are buying escarole, you have the main ingredient for Utica Greens. I think I posted that back in the dark ages when we were at TOH. The folks around here use the Italian term "scarola" and it's always in the stores. I like greens that are a little on the bitter side but rarely use it for salad. I might have to try it. I currently have 4 meals of Utica Greens in the freezer left over from our catered lunch last week. I love to fry them up in scrambled eggs or make sandwiches with them in crusty rolls.
Tonight I'm making myself a "faux" pasty using ground beef, chopped onion, carrot, and potato with salt, pepper, and a pinch of ground thyme folded inside a Pillsbury pie shell and crimped. I bake it at 350 for about an hour. I've made this before and it's not bad--one very large pasty for a big eater or with leftovers. I'm sure it's not anywhere near the traditional pasty but it's easy and satisfying.
Rain just passed through and by tomorrow our high may not even get out of the 50's. We're spoiled--it has been so warm all week.

Oh my, we had a high of 88 today. Tomorrow is more of the same. I've been cleaning out kitchen cupboards a little bit at a time. Nothing too arduous but it is making a difference. Supper tonite was shrimp scampi. I added orzo and broccoli. That's two more bags out of the freezer. Progress! Leftovers for tomorrow, too.
Happy Birthday, Tammy! Hope you had the happiest of birthdays.

Well it was a long day but everything turned out well. DH has a mitral valve leaking but it is considered moderate so no surgery. He was wide awake and felt well afterwards and he was quite hungry, so he was looking forward to a meal. He had to fast all day. I ended up driving back to Livingston, picking up Helen, going back to Lufkin, getting DH then we went to Outback for dinner. I got a free ice cream sundae!
DH cannot have greens of any kind, so I never buy any kind of lettuce. I do miss having the occasional salad, but I often order a salad when we go out.
Going to bed early tonight I think. I will need to get up early then go work at the resale until 2:30- I am filling in for a lady who is gone for the weekend. Once I get home I still need to clean the rv, buy some groceries for the tea on Saturday and bake cookies. I'll check in when I get a chance. goodnight!
