Good morning.
Looks like a nice day ahead for us. It will be 10 degrees warmer for us. It's been chilly and rainy.
DH got back around 4 yesterday and he was full of stories. His mom told him this would be the last time the family would be speaking. Did I mention she is the trustee of estate? Sounds like more drama ahead.
I need to see what I have on hand and figure out what dinner will be. May run to Trader Joe's later.
Lori, I can't believe what happened with your sun glasses. Hope you can get a new pair soon.
Waving to all. Betsy

Hi ! I hope everyone is having a nice day.
As soon as I got up and got ready, I took the dog to the vet for his yearly shots. Another thing over and done and I can mark it form my to do list.
On my way home I passed DH-he was on his way to a doctor appointment. I think to get the results of the stress test. I am hoping he will call on his way back home and offer to bring lunch home. If not, we will have turkey sandwiches.
No cooking for me tonight-we are going to the next town south and enjoying a steak supper.
I got 5 small individual bowls of tiramisu done yesterday and took those to the coffee shop. We will see if they sell.
Yes, I had a chicken salad sandwich for lunch (yesterday). It was pretty good. He put it on a hoagie roll. Next time I will get it on a croissant. It is ready made salad that he bought at Sam's. They are thinking of adding some chopped apple and nuts to it. I think that would be good.
Today started off cloudy but it looks like the sun is out now.
Elaine, Swedish meatballs sound good. I may have to put those on my list to make soon.
Tasty, thanks for posting the yummy recipe
Waving to all!

Just got a call from Jeff and Sherrie came through surgery just fine. One blockage was all. So she is in a her room which is her ICU room now. So glad it is all over now the healing will be the longest.
I went to Wally World and got some nice flowers for cemetery. So when I go to funeral services for DSIL will go to the cemetery and will have that done. It is early but the 5 hr. drive in one day is too much for me. But I will get it done.
So now I have all my washing done. We did get some rain this morning and to get more later too. Hope to get at lawn tomorrow.
Bet if you get this have you ever frozen fresh Asparagus. My neighbor gave so much. I think I should blanche it first don't you think?
Have a great day!

Afternoon! Wow! I went out to lunch and got home just in time; we just had a doozy of a rain storm. Heard thunder in the distance, too. I went to a Lebanese restaurant and had a house salad with lemon vinaigrette and a skewer of lamb kabob. Yummy! DH is in the kitchen chopping jalapenos and Italian green peppers to pickle. Tonight we will finish our Shwarma dinner. I only have a little tabbouleh left so I'll put out some of the lemon-parsley bean salad I made yesterday. I just finished broiling some really thick asparagus that I found on the sale table. Love the thick ones. Marlene - I read that you can broil the asparagus until just getting soft. Cool them completely on a cookie sheet...I put mine in front of a fan. Freeze them on the cookie sheet, and when frozen pop them into a zipper bag and freeze. LINK I also blanched them in the microwave. Take 4 paper towels and wet them wringing out the excess and stack them. Lay the prepared asparagus in a single layer on the towels. Roll up the towels to make a bundle with paper towels in between... spiral like. Micro on high depending on thickness until just beginning to soften. Carefully unroll and spread on a cookie sheet; discard the paper towels. Cool completely (fan again), freeze flat then bag. LINK The directions state 3 minutes, but the last time I did them, I did them 2 1/2 minutes and they were crisp tender the way we like them. Lori - That was so weird what happened to your sun glasses! Feeling even better today? I have some turkey and gravy in the freezer from Thanksgiving. I think I'll try the stuffing meatballs then; I'll check with DH first. Tammy - Yum on the steak dinner! Have fun! Betsy - Is it sad news that DH and family won't be "speaking"? If I ever get some room in my freezers, the first thing I want to do is get some frozen food from TJ's! There is a "rumor" going round about TJ's opening a store near us...yea! There is a new development in Salem, NH that will actually be an enclosed "city" with living and retail space, a hospital, etc. Nancy - Late dinners (after softball) would be difficult for me...I go to bed so early!!! That's great that DD team is doing so well, though. Elaine - There was a trivia thing on the radio today...said Swedish meatballs come from Turkey!!! Someone has some 'splainin to do!!! Helen - I just made a new freezer list...it's now one side of paper instead of two...I'm getting there! I'm like you and Tasty...can't resist those markdowns! Hope you are feeling better. Hope everyone has a great evening...waving!!

Thank you Ann I will try that. I have a big bag and want to preserve some. I like to use olive oil and shredded Parmesan cheese and bake it.

I had to run a few errands today. It was so hot! I know many people thrive in these hot temps but I am not one of them. I got a really interesting cookbook from the library called "Retro Recipes From the '50s and '60s" by Addie Gundry. I'm only a few pages in but already I'm seeing so many recipes that my Mom and I both cooked back then and, in some cases, I still cook. It's a fun read. Supper tonite was another treasure from the freezer, Trader Joe's Chicken Piccata. I added angel hair pasta and brussel sprouts and quite enjoyed it. There's enough left for lunch tomorrow, always a plus. Tasty, you would've been quite proud of me today. I marched right past the sales at Publix, got my laundry detergent, and made my get-away. :o

Some more bad news today. A mother and 3 children were found in a house dead from gun shots. The kids were 14,10 and 6. Tyler and Aiden were both going to the school where I worked. Aiden always had the biggest smile. So sad. Elaine
