Good morning, everybody -- I am getting things started today. I've been reading even if I'm not posting -- it's a busy week!
I really have been enjoying our services at church this week, it's just that about the time we get finished I tend to "hit the wall." When I get home, it's all I can do to get ready for the next day and get to bed. Looking forward to having a little more time to chat after tonight. Having dinner at church has been a big help. Last night was "Taco Tuesday" and tonight is a baked potato bar.
Hugs to all who are hurting in whatever kind of way ~ I hope it's a good day for everybody.

Good morning all.
Dh just left for the service in LA. It's pouring here. Hope he makes it on time. They made a point to tell him immediate family meant just him. I think oldest dd is calling in a vacation day to hang out with me. It upset her they think immediate is just DH. Oh well.
Doris, thank you for the kind words. No, ds doesn't have border detail. He got a really good station for his first one. La Jolla. They love the officers and treat them well. He's dealing with the homeless though. He took video of the elaborate homeless home he found. Had running water and power and was built from limbs. It also had 2 bathrooms and alarm that he and his partner set off.
I want to thank everyone for the kind thoughts. It's a big help. Chris and Lori I don't know we managed to get the MIL but lucky us, right? I am stressed out from her antics.
I think the girls and I will get take out. No idea when we will see DH. It's a 2-3 hour drive and his "family" is going to eat after.
Waving to all and thank you again.
Betsy

Elza - thanks for taking the time to start us this morning.
Betsy - it seems your MIL really is something else! Excluding you today is awful. Enjoy your day with eldest DD.
Golf season starts here today and hubby has already left. I'm having a day of catch-up around. Lots of odds and ends that need attention, some laundry, some banking - enough to keep me busy.
No idea yet what we'll eat tonight. There's lots to choose from in the freezer so I know we won't go hungry.
Have a great day.

Hello! Betsy, praying for safe travel for DH. I hope you have a pleasant day with DD.
I was sleeping away when there was a knock on the door and the dogs were barking up a storm. Crystal needed a driver so she called earlier, also DH called, but my phone was inside my purse and I never heard the ring. It was 8 a.m., so I needed to get up anyway. Usually the volunteers can drive but for some reason these volunteers have not been "approved" by the insurance company yet, even though one of them was just here a couple months ago and she was ok to drive then! Crystal was having a bad day, so he ended up driving one person into town and dropping him off at the doctor. On his way home he stopped by the coffee shop and got Crystal a toffee frappe. She was so happy.
I took a resident to her appointment at the hearing aid shop. She was having trouble hearing and had new batteries, so that was not the problem. Turns out her hearing aid was clogged with some ear wax. They cleaned it and all is well again. She treated me to a donut and coffee at our local place.
I won't be hungry for lunch when DH comes home, so I will make him something and then may run over to the coffee shop and try that chicken salad.
Now that I am home I am trying to do small things that need done. I am washing the bedding, will call for an appointment for the boy dog. It's time for his yearly shots. I also need a doctor appointment for me-just for refills on my meds.
Dinner tonight will be turkey, mashed potatoes and dressing. Lunch tomorrow will be delicious turkey sandwiches.
DH just called and he is going with a resident down to the gas station/deli for a burger for his lunch. I am guessing that this resident did not want pork stir fry for lunch today.
I hope everyone is safe from the storms moving through the Midwest today. We are hot and partly sunny/cloudy. Have a nice day!

Afternoon, friends! It's getting warmer and warmer. I'm wearing a summer outfit! Watching "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" passing the time in between "jobs". The contestant has a fancy tattoo on both sides of her neck/throat area...that must've hurt getting that done. Personally, I cannot see what folks see in covering their bodies with tattoos, but I'm "old"!! LOL Betsy - Hope DH has a safe drive; family dynamics are so crazy. Good that you can stay above the fray! Hope you have a good time with DD today. Tammy - Yum on dinner! Someone on TOH FB posted a family recipe for "stuffing balls"...I ran it off. I've made stuffing muffins and stuffing waffles, but never stuffing balls. The other recipe I want to try is one for "Onion Patties". My nana use to make mashed potato cakes with some onion, but these have flour and cornmeal and a mess of chopped onions. You ever hear of those? Elza - Never had a baked potato bar...sounds good, though. Bet - I missed news about your accident, too. Tasty - Thanks for the recipes. My DH would love the apricot almond bars. Doris - Never tried ACV and honey for a cough; wrote that one down! When I do get a cough it's awful because my cough reflex has a short trigger. We're having the Kalua pork with cabbage, potatoes, and herbed blueberry sauce tonight. Waving!

Good morning. It's another windy day here so no shuffleboard. We need to run and get water so will do that.
Yesterday we had air conditioner repair man out here as our fan in house keeps running even though air conditioner outside quits. Well he went outside to air conditioner and cut something off switch out there. Charged us $138 . I called my brother in law in North Dakota and he said that can't be cut as it is a safety switch for our compressor. So DH called them back and they came and wired it in. So we are out the money plus the problem isn't fixed. The guy they sent was Spanish and could barely talk English.
ELZA- thanks for starting us this morning. I am glad you are enjoying the services.
Betsy- my mother in law lives in Chico California. I have never met or talked to her. Lol.
Tasty- I put away laundry this morning and dusted some. I am now relaxing.Lol.
Have a great day. ELAINE

I am tired lady and going to quit cooking for the day. I have 5 meals made for the family of 4 where the food is going. I have it all in freezer w/ BBQ Pulled pork so they will have 6 different meals. All dishes are all washed except the one pan and will do that when I get my back rested. Chuck came and got a bag of asparagus and empty bottles I saved for him. He called this morning and wanted to know how I got along last night. One of our neighbors had bad luck. He was one that came and tried to put juicy fruit in mole holes. He lost part of his brand new machine shed and two other buildings. Feel sorry for the guy he is also losing his job this year also. He has taken care of corn for seed company for over twenty years and they are going to drop the corn and just do beans. Hopefully things will look better for him soon.
Talked to Sherrie this morning and told her I had some meals fixed for them and she told me I was a Blessing and good neighbor. I said no I am just doing what I can do to help you out. She has her surgery for By Pass tomorrow. I would not like to trade places with her.
Betsy what a MIL you have. That kind of person I would stay from. How can a person be so rude to family. I guess I was lucky I have always had a good MIL. Now she wants to complain but that is age. She fell again this morning and she told them she broke her back. But she walked w/ walker to eat breakfast!
The gal who is helping me clean just won $50,000 on a scratch off ticket!! She does not play them often but had won 8.00 so she got 8 more tickets. It was a crossword one and she had 10 words and told along the side if you ten words, 50,000!! It was 10:00 Sunday night and she called her son and told him I need to talk to you. He said I am ready for bed she said I need to see you so he told her to come to his house and he was surprised. He took her to Council Bluffs to collect it Monday. So happy for her she needs new hearing aids and different car and will be able to pay her bills etc. I was so happy for her she is a nice woman and has worked hard for what she has. She still wants to clean for me too!!
Lori hope you are feeling better and pills are helping. Tasty the recipes looked good that you posted. You know we never have enough recipes!!

Good afternoon everyone. Hope this finds each of you well. Today has us celebrating National Truffles Day.
It has been pretty much a lazy day for me. My throat is feeling slightly better today so I am glad I went to the doctor yesterday. Trying not to over do it I've been watching tv, reading, and now came on the computer.
However, I did have to leave the house briefly. When I put my sunglasses on to quickly run out for the mail, my sun glass frame exploded! I kid you not, the frame split under the lens and out drops the lens and it made a loud popping sound This is the 2nd time it has happened since getting new frames in early January. I was disappointed as I really need my sunglasses for driving, the playground, etc. so decided I better take them in and see what they want to do about it. They had the same frame, different color, so they said I could have those for now, but they were going to see if they could get me some comp frames so I can pick out new/different frames.
Elza, thanks for starting us off today with your busy schedule.
Betsy, sorry you were not considered immediate family by your DH's family and able to attend the service. Bet that hurt and upset your DH too. Hope your DH had safe travels and will be back with you sooner then later. Enjoy the take out this evening with your girls.
Tasty, I shook my head when I read that your golf season starts today, trying to figure out what you meant. Then it hit me that you're not here where it's golf season 12 months a year. Thank you kindly for posting the recipes. I have copied them and look forward to giving them a try.
Tammy, you have been busy today. Hope you did make it over to the coffee shop and taste the chicken salad you've been hungry for. Was it homemade or store bought?
Ann, after you make the stuffing balls, please let us know if you liked them. Sounds like an interesting recipe.
Elaine, sorry that after a service call and money out the door, you're still having issues with the fan. Hope you can find someone else to fix it for you.
Doris, nice to see you stop by last evening. Thank you for the suggestion--never heard of that one!
Partly cloudy, it's currently 87* and the humidity has returned to make it uncomfortable. Although there is no call for rain today, the wind has picked up and I just heard some thunder. For any of you that may be in the path of the severe storms/tornadoes popping up out there, stay safe.
Dinner will be leftovers.
Waving to all.
Lori

Marlene, you really are a special person! Your kindness is endless and your friends and neighbors are truly blessed to have you in their lives. I'm sure Sherrie feels better going into surgery tomorrow knowing that there are some meals that will be waiting for her when she returns home. Please do rest your back and legs this afternoon/evening--a well deserved break after all those meals you've made.

Hello friends,
Tried typing here this morning but some kind of bug came up on the screen for this site. Not the first time.
Betsy, I probably would've gone just to aggravate your MIL lol.
Marlene, Plenty of houses for sale in our neighborhood if you want to move here to make meals lol. You're a good friend and neighbor! And a wonderful pet owner.
Last night we had the leftover chicken francaise after we got home from oldest DD softball game. They won 11-1 so they get to play another county game on Saturday. They have a game tonight too but it starts at 7. Unfortunately, youngest dd is at a friends house and has homework afterward so DH will go to the game.
It's 85* hot and humid! It seems like spring is skipping us. I'm still hoping for some 60-70* weather.
Burgers, hot dogs and french fries here tonight.
Nancy

I woke up this morning feeling pretty miserable after a nite of tossing and turning. I could feel my throat getting sore and my head clogging up. Mid-morning I needed a nap and felt better afterwards. Not sure if it's allergies or a cold. Just hope it goes away quickly. Supper tonite was leftover kielbasa and mashed brussel sprouts. If you've been wondering about my wildly mismatched meals, I'm trying very diligently to use up what's in the freezer before hurricane season June 1. I lost so much food from Hurricane Irma last year I vowed to not let that happen again. So I'm grabbing whatever comes to hand and then hope to keep only a week's supply at a time in the freezer. Trouble is, I love sales and when something I love is on sale, it trips me up. No more, she says!

Oh Helen, I would have trouble just shopping for a few days too. I love my freezers and the selection that can be available. Must admit tho, right now, I am trying to use what is in them but it's VERY HARD to ignore a good sale 😔
Tonight we had cabbage rolls with roasted parsnips, all courtesy of the freezer 😉
