Good morning.
It's raining and here cold. Thunderstorms predicted later.
Dinner will be leftovers.
Last night ds and son to be dil came over. They have decided to get marry soon but wanted to know if I would mind if they eloped. Her mom was giving them an issue as she wants a large elaborate wedding. They don't want that. I told them what ever makes them happy. I would love to be there but the most important thing to be is they get married for Poppy. Tired of people causing my loved ones drama.
I hope everyone is having a good week.

Good for you Betsy!! I really think you gave DS and DDIL (to be) very good advice! All is important is that they are happy.
I have grocery list made out to fix 5 meals for my neighbors. Sherrie has to have By Pass surgery. She is plugged where it turns and they said they could not get through it to open it up. So will have 5 dishes in her freezer for her when she comes home. I took out all hamburger this morning and will get all the fixings for them. I know other people will bring in food too. I also have a big bag of BBQ pork to give them too.
So headed to town to get groceries as we are to have a storm again tonight. There has been terrible accidents on Interstate 80 the last to days. Is out in Nebraska. Had 29 car pile up on Sunday and 19 pile up yesterday. Said they ran into a cloud of brown dirt. The wind was terrible and now it is starting up again.
Take care everyone.

Good morning friends. This is just a quick hello to all as I need to leave in a few minutes for a doctor appointment. I figure if I want to be well quickly, rather then drag it out, I better get myself over to the office.
Besides it being May Day, it is also National Chocolate Parfait Day. As per the news this morning they also mentioned that this week was National Raisin Week and National Herb Week.
I'll talk with you later. Have a nice day everyone.

Hello once again. Back from the doctor and it's just what I suspected--strep. He said my throat looked like cracked glass with white rocks scattered around (never heard it described as such). Picked up my new meds and just took one now as I am having some yogurt and hot tea.
Betsy, sorry about the drama your MIL is causing right about now. Sad as it is, I'm sure you're not the least bit surprised by her actions. BTW, any chance your MIL knows my MIL? Sounds like they could be best friends, two peas in a pod. Betsy, I honestly believe you gave your son and DIL-to-be good advice on doing what makes them happy. Although the other mother may have wanted a big wedding, it's not what the children want. I hope that she will accept their wishes and just be happy knowing the kids are happy.
Chris, glad your DH is now back home and you're enjoying his company. Has he already started job hunting?
Tasty, good for you tackling the not-so-fun job with the raspberry canes. Hopefully you'll be rewardedwell with tons of berries to enjoy this year.
Tammy, thank you for sharing the recipes. I appreciate it very much.
Marlene, those nasty moles can really make a mess of the lawn. Never heard of the Juicy Fruit gum treatment--are you going to give it a try? Sorry your DD will soon be out of a job come the end of June. I'm sure, however, with her experience and degrees she will land something bigger and better. Also, I wanted to say that the log you got for your yard sounds very nice--hope you are very pleased with it.
Has anyone seen the new flavors of Oreo's? They are Cherry Cola, Pina Colada, and Kettle Corn. If I ate an Oreo cookie, I'd probably stick with the original cream filled goody, but if I tasted any of the new flavors, it would not be the Cherry-Cola since I don't like anything cherry. Guess there is some contest taking place now where you can vote for your favorite of these new flavors.
Couldn't stay awake last night for the entire hockey game, but I enjoyed the first two periods. Was happy and excited that the Lightning beat the Bruins and we'll be back in Tampa for game 5 on the weekend.
Not cooking today, just reheating. I took a container of Vegetarian chili from the freezer for myself and a container of regular chili out for DH. If this doesn't float his boat, he can dig around for something else.
Need to go lay down for awhile. I got little to no sleep last night with all the coughing again. Waving to all!

Lori, I'm sorry you're feeling so miserable. You don't want to mess with strep for sure.
Since I have to go out tomorrow, I'm enjoying another day of quiet at home. Supper tonite will be kielbasa cut into thin pieces and charred and leftover cabbage from last nite. Frozen cherry fruit bars for dessert.
Maybe a quick nap before supper?

Afternoon, friends! It's a lovely, sunny afternoon...getting warmer, too. Lori - Glad to read that you went to the doctor and are now on meds. I have never had strep throat, but I know how awful it can be. Chili sounds good...either way! Betsy - You gave very loving advice to your DS and future DDIL! Marlene - Your kindness is just so inspiring. I'm sure your neighbor will truly appreciate your efforts! Oh, I hope no one was killed or badly injured in those wrecks. Helen - I love to char kielbasa! Going to prep the ingredients for veal tarragon. Will have it with tarragon farro and asparagus. Waving!!

Lori I really like the sign I had made. I gave it 2 coats and it looks better. So sorry to hear you have strep. That is terrible. sounds like you need some chicken noodle soup!
I got the Spaghetti pies made. Two 10" for neighbors and a little one for me. Then made 4# of ham balls w/ sauce. I made them 9x13 pan and have an 8x8" in my freezer too. I have all kinds of hamburger thawing for tomorrow. My back is screaming at me now. Will do a Tater Tot casserole using the round tater tots on top, a really good recipe of Goulash, also Tasty's good meatloaf. I also got a big pkg. of buns for BBQ pulled pork, and some garlic bread for them also. I hope they will enjoy it.
We are to get a bad storm coming around 4:00 this afternoon. Yes Ann there were 1 death each day in the bad wrecks on Interstate 80. It looked horrible!! It was daylight you think they could have seen it coming into it. I am no judge but???
Need to get to my chair and let the Extra Strength Tylenol help me. That is all I can take.

Never did get back this morning and have been out most of the day since then. Took lunch to the guys (inc hubby) working at the curling club today - pea & ham soup, h//m french bread, cheese and butter tarts and some fruit. Sure wasn't much left!
Then I went on to my craft group and have just got back home, long enough to vacuum around.
Still have no idea what I'll make for supper.
Waving to all. Must run.
PS Great advice to the kids, Betsy. After all, it is their wedding day.

Hi ! Just got the pot pie in the oven...finally. I will cook a Schwan's turkey breast tomorrow but on Thursday evening DH will be driving the bus to Cleveland VFW for their steak night. A group from here has not gone there in several months. I'm looking forward to that.
I got up extra early-woke up at 5:30. I picked up Laura and we headed to Lufkin. It was about an hour drive. She was only there for about 30 minutes then we headed back, and got home at 10:45. Sometimes we will stop to eat but it was too early for lunch, and she wanted to get right back so as not to miss lunch and the residents meeting, being held at 1:00.
As we were driving back I mentioned the newcomers group that I was part of, and I realized today was the day of the luncheon. I made DH lunch, and then headed over to the Mexican restaurant. There were 6 of us. They chose an outdoor table on the patio, and it was so windy! Not a great day to sit out. After we ate (I got taco salad), we went over to the local history museum. It's small, but nice and we were not there very long.
I have no certain plans for tomorrow so hope to get a little baking done. I might eat at the coffee shop as they now have chicken salad. It might be something he just ready made at Sam's, but I want to try it.
Betsy, I agree whole heartedly with your advice. Let them chose what they want to do.
Marlene, you are a good friend and neighbor. I will pray for Sherrie.
Lori, so glad you went to the doctor. Sorry about the diagnosis though. Good thing you got the right meds.
Tasty, you may have to share some recipes too! The apricot tart sounds wonderful. So do butter tarts. (hint hint!)
Today has been cloudy all day. They are saying we may reach 90 within the next week! Not ready for that!

Good evening. Me bad, been a little down on myself since the accident and a little despondent. Had to good talk with myself this morning and decided I needed to pull myself up by my bootstraps and get with life.
It has been a beautiful day here. Spent 3 hours trying to save my poor tomato plants. They are totally out of control. I have never had to move them out of the 6 packs before transplanting them into the garden. Today was the 3rd transplant, this time into quart pots. I agree with Melissa, things seem to be growing faster this year and much larger. I have decided it may because I can't find potting soil anymore that doesn't have fertilizer in it.
Got the settlement on my car today and it was more than I expected. This weekend will be looking at a couple of possible vehicles. Only problem is I can't find the lien release letter from the finance company where I paid the car off about 8 years ago. Can't get my money until I get that. Guess I will be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning.
Betsy, sorry for your loss and so sorry you MIL is being such a pain.
Marlene, also sorry about your loss. Your are such a caring person. Thinking of others and their needs.
Bet

Betsy, my condolences to you and your family on DH's Grandmother's passing....so sad there has to be drama at an already difficult time. ((((Hugs)))) Your advice to your DS and soon to be DDIL is "spot on"...their wedding, their call. They could have a healthy down payment on a house for the price of a fancy wedding. There has been a lot going on at your house lately.....hopefully, soon things will settle down to a low roar. How is DS......is he involved in any of the mess at the border....He just need to stay safe. I am sure that "Little Poppy" will bring great joy to the whole family.
Lori, so sorry you are feeling rotten.....maybe a little honey mixed w/some apple cider vinegar would ease your cough....it works for me. I hope you are back in the pink soon.
Tammy and Tasty, thanks for the recipes......they all sound good.
Marlene, you are so kind and generous and I am so sorry that you aren't my neighbor. I am sure your DD will land something bigger and better....when one door closes another will open. You take care of yourself and stay safe. One of the people killed in the I-80 wrecks was a man from Colorado Springs and his wife was badly injured. I heard it on local news.
Chris, glad to hear DH is home safely.........Maybe the Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise you can have summer at your house from 10 to 4 on July 4. Congrats on the new job......I am sure that it will keep you busy......You mentioned recently that DH would be starting a new job......what will he be doing? I am sure that he will be happier w/that hateful B supervisor out of his life.
Cheers to all, Doris
